Food was execellent. We stayed at the W Lakeshore Hotel in Chicago, so it was convenient coming downstairs for dinner. I ordered Margarita pizza, mushrooms, asparagus, and Caesars salad. It was delicious. I don’t mind ordering the same thing the next time around. The service was also excellent. Very accommodating

We stayed at The W Lake Shore this past weekend when we were in Chicago and our first night there. Everything we ordered was amazing. We started with the meatball appetizer which was super delicious although you may want to get two orders just because they were so good, they will go quickly. My dinning companion had the Lobster spaghetti which was very filling and quite a large portion. I ordered the prime ribeye which also worth the price on the menu. The atmosphere was great, the service likewise. Later in the weekend we grabbed drinks at the bar. The cocktails were also amazing and the bartenders very cool. We will come back for sure!

We stayed at the W(nice hotel rooms as expected), everybody was superfriendly and competent. 5 stars for the hotel. However, the food at the restaurant is incredible and not in a good way. Italian, my !!! The shrimp bruschetta was tasty with enough garlic to overpower the marginal freshness of the shrimp. The pizza was interesting, a thick greasy crust with something on it that was called cheese. I am convinced it was lactose free and an oil-refinery by-product. Finally, the Lyonnaise(the french name should have been a warning) with the porkbelly was the show-stopper. Hard nuggets of something(if it was pork-belly, the pig at least died a natural death) in wilted frisee with an egg poached so unprofessionally, its an art in itself! It prevented my wife from eating anything else for a full two days. Luckily, I had a stronger drink… Take a few minutes and get a sandwich from the 7 – 11 down the road. Or get the Pringles from the ‘pantry’ in the hotel, you at least know what you get and why.

Don’t ever go here. Expensive and terrible. We were treated like garbage and our bill was over $ 100. Love other w’s. Hate this place.

If I could give this place zero stars then I would. Prepare your self for the worst service and condescending staff. Never again.

This hip hotel restaurant at the W offers a way too loud trance-techno soundtrack, so be prepared for that. Still, the room is nice looking, the seating comfortable, service is fine, and there are no complaints about the food. The martini, served in one of those stubby glasses(ridiculous! stemware please! always for martinis), came with terrific cheesy olives. Salmon was moist and tasty and is served with a nice radish salad. Polenta with mushrooms was the perfect side. There is an outdoor terrace if you want it, and watching heavy traffic on Lake Shore Drive can be entertaining when you’re not in it. Actually, the views of the lake from the restaurant are pretty nice. So if you happen to be skirting the shore of Lake Michigan and pass by the W in search of refreshment, you can do a lot worse than heading here for dinner.

My crab cake was okay but the salmon entrée was raw and unedible. I did not order ceviche, did I?

Walked in twice to try and find a menu, lots of staff standing around and no one acknowledged me

Had the overcooked lobster spaghetti. Not good, chewy and as interesting as a bathroom slipper. Returned it. Nobody cared. Life must move on, I guess. Had their $ 25 grilled chicken… not good. That chicken’s been dead a while. I wanted to stand up and salute it out of respect. Bartenders are distracted and stressed… which is weird because there’s not more than 10 people hovering around the bar at any given time. 1 + is that they have amazing beer nuts that have bits of bacon in it. They don’t offer it… you have to ask for it. As an SPG member this is the saddest W hotel and restaurant that I’ve been to.

Decent food but the service is PAINFULLYSLOW. We ate here for breakfast two days in a row and both times it took over an hour and a half for a simple breakfast. Restaurant was never even close to full capacity. Waited 5 – 10 minutes before a waiter asked us if we wanted coffee. Waited 10+ minutes for milk for the coffee. Took 10+ minutes to pick up the check.

The Current Chicago is a very stylish Restaurant with Great Food. The NEW Menus are great! Its in the W Hotel LSD on the ground level. I love their Mushroom Pizza, The Crab Benedict has so much crab and Their Prime Ribeye is Superb! Great range of prices for any budget. Certainly my favorite place to be when I’am in Chicago!

Great ambiance. But the steak was horrible! More fat than meat! I don’t understand how a 5 star hotel restaurant can serve such a poor cut of ribeye… The rest f the food was decent. But being in downtown Chicago I don’t know how this place survives. The food is fair at best…

Brings I stayed at the W hotel I did end up eating here a few times. I never expect the food in hotels to be any good(unless you are in Vegas). However, this place is not bad. I had breakfast here a couple times, and dinner a couple times(depending on weather). I would not recommend the biscuits and gravy as the biscuits are very hard and gravy does not have much flavor. Everything else seemed to be pretty good.

Great lunch options at Current! The tomato basil soup was recommended to me(I usually don’t like tomato soup) and it was great! The Greek salad was light and had great flavor! The club was ok, not awesome but not bad. My colleague and I also shared the polenta fries which had great flavor as well. Prices are a little steep but it’s in River North! Can’t wait to try more!

I live practically next door to this place and was hoping that it would be a regular addition to our breakfast/brunch rotation. Uh, noes. I will not be returning to this restaurant – even if I have no food in my apartment and everything else is closed(I’ll wait for lunch, thanks). I ordered the waffles, which were supposed to come with mascarpone whipped cream and raspberry proseco compote. I got your standard microwavable waffles with a spoonful of not-table-thawed butter and something that looked like really old(translate: gross) cherry preserves. Unfortunately, it wasn’t just the jam that failed to live up to the establishment’s namesake. The décor was stuck in the 90s, the service was lackluster, and I don’t believe the menu has been updated in a decade(not even when it’s no longer accurate…). Steer clear, folks. Hit up Local Root, Yolk, or even Dollop if you want breakfast in Streeterville. The only reason I haven’t given this a one-star is because I didn’t come home with food poisoning.

This restaurant has a very interesting menu. It is not the one that is posted here tho After a bad start with an unfriendly waiter things began to improve with the new waiter Food was pretty tasty. Service a little slow. We ate here because we were staying at the W hotel. Background music loud and too much like a dance club

Came in for Thanksgiving dinner and had a really wonderful time with my family! They had a Thanksgiving food menu AND allowed guests to order off their regular menu as well… I thought that was nice. We made a reservation(which I would recommend if you are planning to eat here for dinner) and the receptionist was very friendly. When we arrived, we had to walk through the lobby of the hotel before we reached the restaurant. It was super cute and super trendy. I was totally loving the vibe. We were seated quickly. I will say the tables are quiet close to each other, which made the dining experience slightly uncomfortable(i.e., overhearing our neighbors conversations, getting up to use the restrooms were awkward, etc.) We ended up not ordering any of the items off the Thanksgiving menu(besides the dessert items). Here is the food summary: APPS– The calamari and zucchini frittis were delicious. MAINS– The sausage pizza was good. The truffled mac and cheese was the BEST. The salmon was good, but nothing special… and the lamb pasta dish was not my favorite. DESSERT– Apple pie was too sweet for me but the cookie cheesecake was perfection. DRINKS– They had the vandermill ginger peach which is one of my favorites! A glass Riesling was definitely overly pricey(huge surprise when I got the bill) — not sure if I’d order that again. Overall, the food was good. The ambiance was great. My company was awesome. The only thing that was somewhat subpar was the waiter’s attitude. He just seemed a little snappy and a little too quick. We let it slide considering it was Thanksgiving. I’m sure I’d have a ‘tude if I had to work on Thanksgiving too.

Was here a few nights ago and was blown away by the changes to this place… What a fantastic upgrade of the space. I have had some of the food that was nice. The bar/lounge area is pretty spacious which leaves room for socializing which is a good thing because this seems to be a streeterville socializing haunt. If you lke drinking wine with your friends, you are in luck. There is a huge list of wine choices available to us for between $ 8 and $ 11. I probably will be back to sample the martinis many times over. Cheers to the weekend

This restaurant just opened but based on the food and service received, you wouldn’t know it. I had burrata on a wedge of butter lettuce, lamb spidini(sp?), a salsiccia pizza and the conchiglie pasta. My guest for the evening had the paccheri with lamb ragu. Our meal was paired with a nebbiolo wine. What I liked about this restaurant: It’s straight forward, honest food. Lots of locally sourced, good ingredients. Pasta that is made in house, served al dente and which holds up to the sauce. I bought the small plate of pasta and it was still a big portion. The fonduta sauce was smooth and creamy and had just a hint of smokiness to it. The peas were firm to the bite. The flavors are well balanced. Plus, the staff is very attentive. Their wine list is long and thoughtful with wines to suit any taste. I also very much appreciated that, despite the marble floors and glass walls, the restaurant isn’t overly loud. You can have a conversation in your normal speaking voice. I also liked the lighting, which is not quite mood lighting but is dimmed enough that the atmosphere is relaxing. I don’t live in Chicago but when I come back I will gladly come back to Current. I was able to watch and epic thunder and lightening display over the lake from the dry comfort of my seat inside. Wonderful! This evening was a great end to a long, hard week. This place is already running smoothly and I can only imagine that a little more practice will increase their ability to delight. YAY! COOTZOUT! ({})
