When I first moved to Chicago, I had a list of boxes I wanted to check out based on 3 things: programming, facility, and community. I had a list of about maybe 10 boxes, and CFN was #2 on the list. After dropping in, I signed up that day for an unlimited membership and didn’t even bother checking out the other boxes because CFN was THAT amazing. I loved everything about this box. I’ve been a member of numerous boxes for long periods of time(due to my career which constantly puts me on the go), and I must say this is definitely near the top of the list for my favorite boxes. Programming: the programming here is on point. No matter your skill level, the programming here works and is evident by almost everyone’s constantly improving metrics. From your soccer mom to your everyday joe to your elite athlete, the programming here will provide you with great results. Facility: the box itself is great. They have a wide open layout where you never feel cramped. There are oly platforms in the back for you to work on your lifts(provided they’re not being used by a class). They have a ton of bars, plates, etc — I don’t think there was ever a time where we didn’t have enough equipment for a class. Rings, ropes, rowers, AirDynes, etc — you name it, they have it. Community: this is definitely the biggest part of CFN that made me decide to join and stay. From the moment I walked in, I was welcomed with open arms(literally, the 1st day I walked in I was greeted w/a hug by a member of the gym). The owners are knowledgeable, down to earth, caring people who care about you as a person, not just as some random person in their business. The coaches are great instructors and motivators who know how to teach and get the best out of each athlete. The members treat everyone like a family — I hung out w/a lot of them outside of the box on a regular occasion during my stay in Chicago. It was definitely tough leaving CFN since I had to move back home, but I’m glad I was able to be a part of their community and get to know everyone. If you’re looking for a great place to do CrossFit and make some lasting bonds w/some great people, you should definitely check out CrossFit Notorious.

Me and my b/f were looking for a new place to work out and we wanted to try something different. I found Notorious CrossFit on Unilocal and I just went there. That was over 7 months ago. It’s the best and most fun workout experience I’ve ever had! Owners/coaches/employees are very welcoming and helpful. Place is friendly & professional. CrossFit is one of the fastest growing strength and conditioning programs today. It’s also a very tough workout — not one to take lightly, especially if you’re not active right now. Training the CrossFit way requires you to work out 3 to 5 days per week. The workouts are highly intense and short, taking about 5 to 15 minutes to complete. Everyone who’s active should try the CrossFit. The key is to know your body and ability and workout accordingly. I love that CrossFit gave you that experience of strength training, weight lifting and even sine gymnastics. Feels good being part of the Crossfit family. Thank u Notorious CrossFit! P

I was in town visiting friends and needed to get a workout in. CF Notorious is a great space with great programming and friendly members. Shout out to Dennis for his coaching and showing me a couple pointers to help improve my snatch. I’ll definitely be back next time I’m in town.

This is the 2nd Crossfit gym I’ve belonged to and it’s really solid. The class sizes are perfect for both new and veteran Crosfitters, the space is huge with plenty of room to move and the equipment is great. The WODS are always varied and there is a healthy mix of skill/strength/WOD in every class. The coaches are engaging, fun and not afraid to jump into a WOD with you and challenge everyone around them. Unfortunately I have to leave the gym to pursue another professional opportunity but I’ll be missing out on everything this gym has to offer. Definitely a worthwhile investment!

I did a drop in class here when I was visiting the area. Walking in very early was a little awkward, but the coach who greeted me was super friendly. The coach who taught the class I was in was super nice as well, very knowledgeable, and helped me improve my kipping pull ups(banded) significantly. I really enjoyed the atmosphere, the space, and everyone else in the class I was in. I’ll definitely be back.

Seeing as this is my first Unilocal review I only see it fitting that it be Crossfit Notorious that I Unilocal about. First, I’ll start by sharing a quick account on my experience since being a member for a little more than a year. When I started, I thought I was in semi-good shape playing pickup basketball, v-ball and joining softball leagues. Until I met Crossfit –WHOA! My first real WOD was«Karen»(150 wall balls) for time — I finished it in almost 17 minutes and I was gassed. We recently did«Karen» a couple weeks ago and I was able to do it under 10 minutes — as cliché as it sounds … The proof is in the pudding. Major props to the owners Alex and Shane! They made a ton of improvements and even the little changes they have made since taking over really go a long way. Not enough can be said about this duo! Here is what stands out for me: Programming — Excellent. Very innovative, even the warm ups are fun. Space– Great! It always feels like you have enough space for your WOD’s and never overcrowded like other boxes I’ve visited. Coaching– The best in the MF’en Chi. Chris, Mel, Marco, Marielle, Roy, and Dennis. They all are very motivating and encouraging. They all possess a perfect combo of knowledge meeting passion. Community — The best part. The members here hold a candle to none. All are extremely supportive, friendly and very welcoming. And last but not least… Music-If I have to hear«When I met you in the summer» ONEMORE time. Jk! Great blend of top 40, throwbacks, Rock, EDM and even some classic Chicago house music. Oh! And who can forget some Biggie. NO, NO, NO, NOTORIOUS! Come check it out!

CFN is a great place to train and get your WOD out of the way! Have been coming here since October 2013 and have seen great results and best of all I have met new people that care about each other. This community is great and the coaches are very helpful… shout out to Marco, Alex and Mel! The environment here is great. good music is always playing and the tunes pump you up! Anything from EDM to rap to good ol’ reggeaton! Now it also seems like we are getting more equipment which is always welcomed!(Weights, bars, bands, etc). Highly recommend this box!

I started Crossfit in October 2013. The experience has been phenomenal. At other gyms, it can be intimating to attend classes when you are the«New Kid». That has never been the case at CFN. We are all there to workout, improve and help each other out. Recently the staff has added new coaches who are all great. I especially appreciate the addition of their 2 new female coaches. The types of workouts that we do can seem overwhelming for a woman but when you have these amazing ladies there motivating you and helping you reach your goals, it makes for a great experience. Crossfit is all about community and at CFN its more like family.
