I expected much better from a place with a flashing hot dog sign on it. The place does not seem very clean the food is very average. I ordered what should have been a classic Chicago-style(the only style) hot dog but was instead served a gray hot dog, that was still wet from cooking, with toppings thrown on top. If you are looking for a good hot dog, go to Flub-a-dub-chub’s instead.

This review is for the BAR side of the establishment. I’ve only ate here a few times and though the food is pretty good, I’m in love with the bar. In fact, I fell INLOVE at the bar(with my current fiancé). The owner, Angelo, is one of the nicest, most personable bar owners I’ve met. I live in Minneapolis, but my friends and I are always greeted by first name every time we visit. Decent beer selection and unique daily drink specials(Picklebacks!!!). You can order food from the deli side and eat it at the bar. Very good gyro and stand-up hot sandwiches. One of my favorite local, neighborhood joints.

I love this place, especially the bartender and service are awesome! Andrea(bartender) is awesome. She entertained us and made us laugh and had such a great time. I definitely will come back just to see her. I strongly recommend this place.

Honestly, I thought Clark Street Dog was good! I forgot what the hell I ordered, but they prepared it with no problem were kind, and I needed a to go bag because the order was HUGE, and they gave it to me with no issue! If you’ve gotten attitude here, it’s unfortunate but I never experienced any problems, and the food here is pretty solid. Great place to go for a Chicago style EVERYTHING! Décor is cool and relaxed, I went here in the winter and wound up watching Jeopardy for like an hour! :)

Meh. Because they have«dog» in their name I assumed that the hotdogs were surefire. Wrong. I tried a chili cheese dog and fries. While I was waiting I watched as they prepared hot dog orders by picking the hotdogs out from a bucket of boiled water and setting them directly into the bun where they proceeded with toppings. Yikes, I thought. I was hoping they’d at least let the hot dog hit the grill or something, but nope. They boil them and then serve em up straight from the boiled water. I digress. The fries(of the frozen variety) were decent, but the chili dog was a bit of a train wreck. First, the bun was compromised from the very start because the chili is watery and so is the cheese wiz they use to satisfy the cheese end of it. The second I tried picking it up the chili started leaking out everywhere and the hot dog itself literally slid out of the bun. The chili turned the bun into a slip-n-slide for the hot dog. Anyway, that part sucked. Notwithstanding, the service was polite, efficient and prompt, so kudos to them for at least that. I’m probably gonna pass unless I’m in the area again and don’t feel like waiting around for a better meal somewhere else.

After nowhere to park In this strangely awkward parking lot, I parked on the street. Upon walking my 100% sober butt in, I was fighting to get to the counter through lines of immature and highly intoxicated customers that probably didn’t know what color the shirts where that they were wearing. After ordering 2 hotdogs with everything @$ 3.39 for a hotdog, I assumed at that price fries were included. Nope!!! I’m sorry, what is wrong with this picture?! No thank you. I then peaked in the bar and saw a very uninterested bartender on her laptop and didn’t even notice me standing there!!! Bye bye Clark street dog. You’re a joke.

CSD(as I like to abbrev it) is my EASY drunk/hungover/bad mood go to. Sometimes I actually get anxiety because I love everything on the menu so much I don’t even know what to do. Double cheese burger? Gyro? Chili cheese dog? Pizza puff? All of the above? Everyone there is SOKIND. Grab a drink at the bar while you’re there because why not you deserve it.

Demi made this place the best bar in chicago. Small but very home like. I would visit here for my pregame for sure. Food and cheap drinks are the best.

I love coming in here for a quick brew on the weekdays or weekend, or just when you need a hotdog or beef sandwich. Perfect for a good environment, good tunes, and good company. Hopefully you’ll be swinging by when Demi is here; she’s awesome!

I love this place. Demi has been super hospitable, fun, and friendly. She pretty much read my mind on everything I could possibly want. Beer is nice and cold. Chicken tenders are extra tender. Pickle backs are putting hair on my chest. Will DEFINITELY be coming back.

I like Clark Street Dog. Let me tell you why. First and foremost, the food. The dogs are good, with lots of options. From the classic Chicago dog, to cheese dogs to just about anything else you might want. Their philly cheese steak is really good, although a bit too much oil. Loaded though. Awesome hangover food. I have not tasted one, but their burgers look amazing. Fries are not bad. they should be coated and fried twice though. Just a thought. Next, the beer. They have a nice bar area, with a descent beer selection. Sports on TV as well. You come in expecting just a fast food hot dog place, but you cut left and suddenly you’re in a little bar as well. Cool. The staff. Okay, just be ready. These folks are not all nice and cuddly. This is a little more like the places in NY or Philly where they yell at you. Okay, maybe not that bad. But you definitely get the«order and get the hell out of the way» attitude. In a nice way! I haven’t really felt like it was malicious, just fun. This is definitely a fun splurge place. Don’t expect much vegetarian or even terribly healthy food here. But pretty tasty!

One of my favorite places in the city for drunk food, partially because it’s super close to my favorite bar. But the food is really good and reasonably priced for what you get. To top it off, they have a pretty good bar if you decide to go before you’re too drunk. Demi, one of the bartenders, is great. She’s funny, sarcastic, and knows what she’s doing. Overall I highly recommend.

Robert C. There were other people at the bar having a good time until you came in, and were the worlds biggest douche. 99% of your comment is made up. She explained to you what the beer was, she even had it up on her phone what the beer was that she has read earlier that day. I honestly I actually impressed on how long the bartender was nice to you for. Even after calling her names she was still nice to you!!! And a über driver? You yelled at her saying you were going to drink a lot of beer on your break, and that you were a renounced bartender. And that she sound be catering to her that you were in there. And then you tried to demand food for free. Drinking and driving other people around is disgusting, almost as disgusting as you’re lies. All of your reviews are one star complaints. I just started going to this establishment a few months ago. It’s one of my favorites in the city it’s fun and the girls are wonderful. Just don’t be a piece of shit. Like Robert!

A few weeks back, after I had just moved to Chicago, I was walking down Barry with my wife on the way to Petco when I saw a pretty girl walking down the street carrying a white bag. The«Clark Street dog» sign had just come interview and I remarked to my wife that they were reputed to have good Italian beef, to which the pretty girl was now within earshot, looked at me, smiled, and said«it’s the best«. She wasn’t lying. I ordered the Italian beef, Wet, with sweet peppers. It was by far the best Italian beef sandwich I had ever had. The bread was soggy but still retained enough integrity that it held together, barely. The beef was thinly shaved, wonderfully marinated, and topped with delicious green pepper goodness. Only reason I give this establishment four stars instead of five, is that the soda station is inaccessible in case you want a refill(though perhaps this is standard Chicago procedure and I’m too much of a newbie to know that.) I highly recommend this place if you’re in the neighborhood — as an added bonus they also have an attached bar where you can take your food and eat while enjoying your favorite adult beverages.

The owner of this place is an enormous dick head. He spoke to me as though I was some underperforming employee of his. I startled him when I responded that he must be confused as to if I’m a customer or not. He then quickly backed down, as most blowhard bullies do when you stand up to them. Shocking, I know. At any rate, I doubt I’ll ever return even though I like their fried chicken sandwich, and the two cooks that are really friendly.

Clark Street Dog is one of those places you go after you’ve consumed way too much alcohol and need something greasy to soak up what you’ve had. It’s your simple diner with a bar attached(if you haven’t consumed enough alcohol already). The food, however, is definitely on point. Yeah, you may have to wait a few moments for your food, and you may see some interesting characters come in from the bars, but you can rest assured that the food will be hot and ready! One thing though: If you’re expecting Wendy’s prices, you won’t really find them here. The food is a little pricey, but hey, you get what you pay for. And…I suggest the pizza puffs, chili dogs and fries.

First time at Clark Street Dog, the food was pretty good. A bit overpriced, we spent $ 13 on two cheese burgers and a cheese fry. One I asked for cheddar cheese on my burger and got nacho cheese. This was a first for me, it wasn’t bad but it wasn’t what I wanted either. We asked for no pickles on the second burger and the cook got mixed up and put no pickles on my burger, and no tomato on the second burger. The burger patty had ZERO flavor, salt and pepper go a long way and it seems lately these restaurants are forgetting that. The fries also had ZERO salt. The cheese sauce was good and everything was hot. Other than the lack of seasonings it was good. I would return to try some other menu items.

All my friends know that I love this place, it’s close to my home. The cheese fries are amazing and get the Italian Combo. Here is my hidden gem, the owner is more than happy to play any soccer match(unless the Cubs/Bears/Hawks/Bulls are on fire/playing), so add this one to your Soccer Bars List. The bartenders are always nice and friendly, they will know your by name and introduce you to all the regulars thus making you feel like you are at home. As for the regulars, they are a nice bunch, great to struck a conversation, friendly to no end. The cooks are amazing, they are talkative and always put attention on my orders. I’m seriously gonna miss this place when I move.

I really enjoyed my food here. I got a Double Cheeseburger with bacon and an egg on top and it was delicious. It took a while to come out but it was worth the wait. The staff here were a bit rude, and I had to repeat my order once which isn’t a huge deal. The cleanliness of the place could be much better. Sit in the bar area if you can. It is way cleaner over there. Highly recommend coming late at night if you have time to wait for your order.

This place doesn’t deserve your money. They are jerks. Want a Refill on an extra large soda? 1.00 $ charge and a nasty look. minimum $ 10 card charge. No specials. Attitude problems. I thought I was at a hot dog place not the RIP. Try chipmunks on diversey Ave., much better place that appreciates your business. These guys should be run out of business. Suckers eat here! No lines here, just mean people here.

I love the Clark Street Dog! Every facet of the place is done right. Their Polish sausage is done just right, and I enjoy all of the sausages and beef sandwiches. There isn’t hardly a time I go when I don’t stop by the bar to try their rotating Ale Syndicate selection or a frosty mug of Not Your Father’s Root Beer. Seriously, check out the bar and grab yourself a sausage or dog and fries while you watch the game or chat with the regulars.

Clark dogs is the best. It’s open until 3am every night. It has a menu that surpasses any other late-night dog place. They serve everything from Tamales to Gyros and have the best cheese fries and chili cheese fries ever. The bar may look divey, but it is full service with cocktails and specialty drinks. One of the best drinks is the Chocolate Almond martini. The best bartender is Laura(sunshine) who works every Tuesday, she is the best at mixing your party a delicious shot. I will always return to this place for late night chili-cheese fries and a $ 3.50 Goose Island
