So, this place is very pretty. They have good quality plant material and plenty of larger plants(perennials in 2, 3 or even 5 gallon pots, several year old shrubs and good-sized trees). The huge greenhouse/store is lovely and full of fun stuff. The staff is ok. Helpful — if you ask. HOWEVER there are a few issues that really took the shine off this place for me: This place is located in a pretty rough neighborhood, use caution if taking the green line here. This place is very expensive. Along the lines of the Chalet in Wilmette, but that place is way more posh and serene. Don’t get me wrong, the plant material is pretty and well-maintained, but it felt much more expensive than you will likely find elsewhere. And I didn’t see too much in the outdoor plant material that was really exceptional(I didn’t notice a surplus of organics, hard-to find varieties of things, a push toward native plants… nothing in the outdoor plant material that would make it worth a special trip) Finally, they wouldn’t take my Groupon for sale items, and they weren’t especially nice about it. Apparently a sale is considered a «special offer» which is most certainly gray area for me…(I mean, really? Sales happen all the time, are they really«special»? I wish the terms had been more specific so I wouldn’t have wasted my time, got all the way to the register and then hardly bought anything) and plus — its JULY, nearly all the plant material is on sale now, so I was kind of SOL on being able to use it on anything that I needed. Big bummer.

Located in the Garfield Market Place, this garden shop has a surprisingly varied selection of plants, necessities such as soils, mulches, and fertilizers, and accessories to beautify your yard. They have everything from small pots of annuals to evergreens, flower pots in every size, shape, and color — from simple to ornate, as well as statuary and blown glass ornaments. Their prices are also very reasonable, even for some of the most ornate flower pots on display. Their plant selection is extensive, and features more unusual and interesting choices than you’ll find at the garden center of Home Depot, for example. Even this late in the season, it’s a lovely place to browse and get ideas for next summer.
