Service and food were bad not worth trying. Very disappointed. We need a good place around the icon theater.

Extreme disappointment. Looking forward to when this place shuts down and something new and improved can take it’s place. Live above the restaurant in a shopping plaza and is the only food in the immediate area, which in turn took away 3 – 4 different food trucks that we had circulating through. Not only did we have cold food on 2 occasions, but the service. was. so. freaking. slow. There were 2 parties around us that left due to the fact. Not sure why we have been back, 2 too many times if you ask me.

This is for service only since I waited 10 minutes to get a menu after being told multiple times«I’ll be right there». People were cancelling their orders and walking out as they were trying to make it to the nearby movie theater. Total failure by the management team on a Saturday afternoon to staff with only a bartender for the whole place.

Had a dinner & a movie date night with the hubby. Its very convenient that this is right next to the theater. But if you come here expecting to make a movie, make sure you allow at least 2 hours for dinner because they are extremely slow. When we arrived we were seated right away. & even though we picked a table far away enough from the door, everytime someone entered/exited a freezing gust of wind hit us. They should really invest in some weather shield doors for the restaurant. The restaurant itself is BBQ style vs steakhouse. I think I was expecting something more upscale but its casual. We started off with Lobster bisque & crab legs. It took 40 minutes to get our appetizers. The lobster bisque sucked. The crab legs were decent. The steaks have a bbq flavor to them, like some type of sauce added during cooking,(they even give you A1 sauce for your steak lmao) I’ve never been a fan of A1 sauces or that type of favor and didnt enjoy that on my steak. I ordered a chive butter addition to the steak that was literally tiny chopped up butter pieces with chives sprinkled on it.(Usually if you order some type of butter to your steak it comes whipped/mixed together in a more uniform state.) I will say on a postive note that my steak & my husbands were cooked perfectly, and it was a very nice cut of meat. We ordered a twice baked potato as a side… It was basically a baked potato cut in half, with the insides sliced a bunch of times and a glop of cheddar cheese. Totally sucked and was completely different than the usual perception of a twice baked potato(which is usually filled with mashed potatoes) For dessert we order the raspberry cheesecake. I am not sure why any restaurant would put such an ugly looking dessert on the menu but for some reason Chop does. The cheese cake is 2 layers, the base is a cream color, and the 2 half which is the top layer is the ugliest pink color I have ever seen.(think 70’s bathroom tile/shower/toilet) It tasted fine but was so un-eye appealing that it made it hard to eat. I really do not think we would be back.

I know things will be hectic during restaurant week, but this got to be a bit crazy. The layout is very very odd. It appears to be a much larger space prior to entering, but what I thought was the entrance and waiting area was the whole restaurant. The tables are square, but the booths only fit 2 comfortably. The solution is to have two people on chairs out in the flow of traffic. The chairs are also a little top heavy. There was no where to hang jackets. The door opened right to the outside, there wasn’t a vestibule with another door, so the cold air came in every time the door opened. Our order was placed and what showed up shortly thereafter did not match. Our fries were not as ordered. My steak, ordered medium rare, was long past well done. Our bill was incorrect, and the manager did adjust it, but all in all it was not a trip I will make again.

I went back and got burgers after management Responded to my last review The burgers were burnt I mean, this place is in a great spot, great atmosphere, nice staff… Their food and chefs just are not good I’m not going back until they get their act together with some solid food choices and better chefs I am shocked that this place wants the same price for a steak as Chicago cut. Kind of ridiculous

Tasteless lobster mac and cheese, and the worst french onion soup ever. The veggie burger is this thin pathetic piece of something they try to pass as food and the fries were 98.2% grease. Btw, we told the waitress we only had about 35 min and she said that was no problem. Our food was brought out in not even 10 min. Maybe like 6 – 7 min. Um? Can we say FROZENPROCESSEDNUKED garbage? We decided to give this place a shot before our movie, despite the previous reviews. All I can say is… wow. It has sooooo much potential, yet flushes that potential right down the toilet. This may be a harsh review, but C’MON. Us chicagoians take our steakhouses very seriously.

Just weird. It’s a small space in a spot that could get a lot of people between the shoppers and the movie goers. We came in after we realized Mego, the Mexican place, wasn’t open yet. We sat down quickly and then reviewed the menu. Pretty standard menu but«steakhouse» seems a bit aggressive of a name for this place. Our waitress seemed a bit odd. She walked up and said, «hi» and just stood there. Do we order? Who are you? Weird. We got the Caesar salad, mussels and side of asparagus. Took about 35 minutes to come out. Asparagus was cold, mussels were good for the most part — got a couple icky tasting ones I spit out. Will probably save our meal for somewhere else next time we are around here — it’s the only option for food in the Roosevelt collection right now. Or just eat popcorn.

Convenient location if taking in a movie, but SKIPIT! Service was horrible. Waited 35 mins for appetizer which was flavorless and cold. Almost an hour before our overpriced tiny burger showed up. Not cooked to the requested temp either. The place is small, service is bad and food is overpriced and flavorless. Pay the VIP prices in the Icon Theater for food — better taste and more timely. Bad experience.

I was excited to have a new steak place in the SoLo, but this place is over priced for just okay food. The prices are set as right at the same level as Gibson’s and Chicago Cut, but the food is far from the quality. I think people have already read the previous reviews that echo a similar statement because the place was dead. My friend and I made a reservation for a pre-movie dinner at 6:30pm on a Thursday night. I’m not even sure they had a computer host system set up to see that we made one. I ordered the jumbo lump crab cakes and French onion soup. Prior to my order I asked what the soup of the day was and I was told Broccoli Cheddar. Really? At a place where you order steak and seafood a la carte, I expected something made by the chef and not something I could get pre-packaged at Panera. The jumbo lump crab cakes were pretty delicious with a nice balsamic glaze. The french onion soup was tasty as well, but if you’re a vegetarian, stay away from it because I missed the part that states there is «filet» in the soup. Also, the«filet» tasted much more like diced mystery meat than a tasty chunk of steak. When it was time to order dessert the waiter told us they were out of everything except for the bread pudding. Instead they had some pies we could order. Again, did they run out and just run next door to whole foods to buy some pies? Overall, a disappointing experience for a place that I had high hopes for.

We walked in here really wanting this to be a good/great experience because there’s nothing like it in the South Loop. Regrettably it fell short in so many areas. The space is piercing loud; when a table or chair is moved its like nails on a chalkboard. The lighting is usually bright against the mural. Chairs were falling backwards because their tops are too heavy(this happened to us, too). There are a few staff that genuinely care about what’s going on here, yet a few that don’t have that genuine servitude attitude that matters. For example, a nearby guest accidently spilt an entire glass of water on the table; the hostess stopped by, handed them a napkin and walked away. The look on the guests face was priceless. In fact, everyone around watched this episode and were equally disheartened. Moments later the Manager and staff jumped on the matter — which we were all glad to see. The food … was mostly a disappointment. First the good: the ribeye($ 39) was outstanding;. The steak poutine was also a winner, though pricey. The bad: the Nicoise Salad was should be taken off the menu; the double pork chop($ 29) was way to dry to enjoy(I was starving & in no mood to fuss, so I ate it). The side vegetables were flat. Perhaps the menu is too ambitious for the small kitchen. Its difficult to tell. Our server was friendly, however lacked product knowledge. The cocktails were good. In short, Chop fell way short of simple expectations.

Stopped here to eat before seeing a movie next door and in retrospect I should have just filled up at the concession stand. Where to start? We sat at the bar and ordered 2 shots of fireball — a couple of minutes later we were told that they were out of fireball so we changed our order to Jameson — and were told that they were currently out of that as well… oh and the wine we ordered was out as well(can’t make this up). My wife and in ordered shrimp cocktail and Scottish salmon for lunch. Once the food arrived the cocktail sauce(using the word sauce lightly) was not sauce but frozen chunks of cocktail sauce. The salmon was warm at best and not cooked all the through. Needless to say we won’t be back any time soon… or any time later.

Despite many negative reviews on this place, we decided to give it a try after watching a movie at Roosevelt Collection. Since the reviews were either loving it or hating it, I decided maybe the negative reviews were on a bad day. Well, we picked another bad day. First of all, the seating is horrible. There are approximately 6 booths that hold 3 adults in a C shape. They add chairs onto the tables to get 4 or 5 at these booths. This blocks the aisles and makes the place even more congested. It seems almost as if this was designed to be a bar, but they decided to add a dining room in the bar. On the other side of the«dining room» there are tables for 2 that are so close to each other, you might as well be dining with the table next to you. I am not into eating when the couple next to you can hear your conversation and vice versa. We had to wait for one of the booths, even though the dining room was not even half full. The other half of the room is the bar. There are no booths there, just high tables for 2 and the bar itself, which you can sit on the stools. It looks like a decent place to drink, but we were there to eat. Onto the meal… Service overall was good, even though there are many negative reviews. Our server tried, and so did the hostess. It’s not their fault. Look what they’re dealing with. This is a management and kitchen problem. Okay, so our waitress asked if we would like cocktails. We both ordered the Summer Harvest which tasted like syrup. It was supposedly«good bourbon, seasonal syrup, ginger beer, and lemon. All we tasted was syrup. For $ 10 a pop, it should have had some effect on my brain cells. Next were the oysters Rockerfeller. They came out lukewarm. Taste was decent, but the temperature was way off… negative stars. I didn’t complain. I just don’t like to send food back. The entrees came. Cowboy ribeye, medium rare. Was decent. I’m not sure if it’s prime meat. It was chargrilled with nice marks on it and a hint of smokiness. However, it didn’t deserve the pricetag of $ 38. My wife ordered the Buffalo Crossing Burger medium. I tried it because she said it wasn’t that good and had come out of the kitchen cold. What it tasted like was a formerly good burger, and you know how you hate it when people press on a burger to squeeze the juice out of it while they’re cooking it? That’s what it tasted like… dried out meat. Sorry. I still didn’t complain. Finally, I had the Scottish salmon. I ordered it med rare to medium. I told the server I hate well done salmon. Well, I got it and was really disappointed in the size of the portion. It’s $ 22 and I got about a 5 oz. portion. Lunch portions are usually bigger than this. I cut into it and because of it’s shape, it was cooked well done on the thinner side and about medium well on the thicker side. I can’t complain at this point because everything sucks. The risotto I ordered as a side literally tasted like white rice with cream poured over it. Tasteless. If you’re going to put this on the menu and you have no idea how to make it, don’t bother. Get a box of Rice a Roni and charge $ 5 for it. It would be more palatable. I also got a side of creamed spinach. It was good and hot in a crock with melted cheese, but it was exactly what was on top of the Oysters Rockerfeller that I already ordered, so in essence, it seemed like a continuation of what I already had. We didn’t do dessert. Why bother at this point? I received the bill. It was $ 129 before tip. I tipped 15% because again, I don’t think it was the server’s fault. However, I noticed the server had misunderstood me and ordered my salmon well done as it was reflected on the check. I did notice there was a lot of confusion at the kitchen window where the food comes out. I have been a server in my past life and know the look of «hey cook, where’s my???» It is usually followed by bewildered looks of all the 3 cooks in plain view trying to figure out where it is or where it went, or who’s going to cook this on the fly because the main entrée is already on the table. This is a true and honest opinion of this place. We eat out at least 3 times a week. I am a bit picky because at this price point, I deserve to be. This place will not last unless these problems are fixed pronto. There are too many good places to eat in this town, and I would not waste my time returning. I would have really liked to write a good review, because we are always looking for good places in our neighborhood.

I had a pretty disappointing experience eating here. I stopped by Chop with a friend after catching a movie on a Friday night. She ordered the French Onion Soup and I ordered a Salad Nicoise with seared tuna. The soup was so salty that my friend could barely finish half of it. And my salad had no dressing. Just dry greens with some tiny pieces of seared tuna. When I asked the waiter if the dressing came separately he told me quite confidently«this salad doesn’t come with sauce». I asked if they had any dressing I could add and he offered caeser or ranch. When I hailed a second waiter he told me they could bring me some balsamic vinaigrette. When he finally brought that out it was just pure vinegar and I had to wait again to have him bring me olive oil. He also brought out the soft boiled egg that was supposed to accompany the salad — 10 minutes after they had initially delivered my food and it was cold. When my friend asked if the soup came with a baguette our waiter said«what’s a baguette?» We were not given a discount or even an apology for the mixup and delay with our food. Our waiter didn’t seem to have received much training or have any knowledge of the menu. I would not return and eat here again which is a shame because I love coming to the nearby movie theater

This is absolutely the worst burgers we’ve had in really long time, followed by horribly slow service. I would NEVER come back. I rarely write reviews, and I go out a lot. But this was horrible. It took almost a half an hour to get our order(and it was empty, no reason for it to take so long!) and when mine arrived and it needed to be sent back, after another 30 minutes I still didn’t have my food. The waitress was nice, but there was no communication between her and the kitchen and we ended up leaving to catch a movie after being there over an hour and I still hadn’t eaten. After being in hospitality for years, the best way this would have been handled would be by pushing the re-order to the front of the line(and not watching piles of other burgers be brought out) and by not charging for the food. Also, there just seemed a huge lack of management to oversee the process & training. Side note– the layout is horrible. Hire a designer for flow next time. The front door is so discreet it’s hard to see, and the lack of hostess stand laughable. Hopefully a new restaurant will take the place of this one soon as the location is prime.

Food was awesome. But the it is pricey considering the décor — very casual. Service was excellent. Don’t recommend the veggie side. But the twice baked delicious and the dipping sauce really good. Ribeye and KC Strip both excellent. Also noisy. Music over speakers too loud. Food — 5 Noise and décor given price knock it down to a 4.

A drinks place. Eat only in desperation. Excellent price and portion WHEN edible. A better venue when it is Porkchop. COCKTAILS($ 10-$ 12) — just right ice cubes. ALLFRUITSRIPE taste like fruit punch. FRENCHONION($ 9) — bitter grilled baguette and overcooked Gruyère. STEAKPOUTINE($ 13) — steak was crazily chopped to pieces. Is there a steak in there? Hard fries. Chewy chompy lump of cheese. I have no idea what the gravy supposed to taste like, it’s brown. VENUE — spacious, a bit disorganized with stuff around, open late.

After viewing BLACKMASS at the show I need some brunch and a bloody. The scotch egg and fingerlings were excellent. I haven’t met a bloody I did not like and they kept up the streak. A nice little bloody bar with jerky and all the basic assortments to add to your drink. In addition you can have your glass rimmed with truffle salt to make it more savory. Kyle was the friendly bartender who was kept busy by the theater crowd. I must have had a good day to hit them because I had no faults with service and food. I will return after the next show to try the dinner menu which seemed quite reasonable.

I only went here because this was the only restaurant close enough to the movie theater to grab something just in time before the movie time. Never again, for the following reasons. Food: I got the lobster bisque and the crab salad. I usually don’t send food back, but the lobster bisque I just had to. It tasted like melted down cream cheese & sour cream mixed with lobster flavoring. There were no chunks of lobster in it like I would expect in a normal lobster bisque, let alone from a steakhouse. Crab salad looked like something I put together with scraps of romaine lettuce leaves and canned crab when I had nothing to eat at home for the total cost of less than $ 5. Food looked and tasted like it was put together not by professional cooks but by kids working part time jobs who have no idea what they’re doing. If you must absolutely eat here for movie time purposes, get the burgers. Service: service was very slow although the place wasn’t even half full. It took forever to get our foods. When I sent back the lobster bisque, the waitress seemed disgruntled. I will not be back.

Finally, there’s food at the Roosevelt Collection. My husband and I went there for dinner and we’re blown away by the food, drinks and décor! We ordered 3 appetizers: flank steak sliders, calamari streaks and the crab cakes. Everything was delicious and very fresh! I would have to say the crab cakes were my favorite, but the sliders were a close second! I forgot what my drink was called but it had whiskey and ginger beer. It was so tasty and refreshing on this hot day. We’ll be back to try more!
