Szechuan chicken was too spicy. The fried rice was soft and flavorless. The chicken piecies were very small and those were soft as well. I am a fan of spicy but it seems that too much spice and salt was intended to be the main«flavor» of the dish. Prices are reasonable. Place looked clean but Popeyes was busier. Oh yeah, NOMSG except in Egg Rolls. Really? At least they tell people. Sorry but my girlfriend and I wished we had gotten a Philly at the restaraunt right next door.

I love Chens, I try to get lunch from there as often as possible. Their food is fresh, not processed like panda express and has not been sitting out for hours. The prices are great considering the location.

Located in the food court on the northeast corner of Clark and Lake, Chen’s Chinese Express is your usual run of the mill Chinese place. Various beef, noodle, rice and chicken dishes are at your disposal. Orange chicken, garlic chicken seemed to be the tastiest looking, so I made sure to grab myself some orange chicken. Added some crab rangoon which added four minutes to my wait. I thought the portions were generous and it was better value than what you would get at Panda Express. They did not give me chopsticks, but the food is still good and inexpensive.

Chen’s is located in the food court on Clark & Lake(along with McDonald’s, Popeye’s, Dunkin Donuts, etc.). The food is your standard fast-food Chinese take-out. I always order the chicken and green beans with fried rice. The green beans are the best part of the dish, really. I wish there was an option to order just the green beans and fried rice. The menu is pretty basic — a handful of chicken dishes, beef dishes, and some vegetarian options(tofu). I’ve also had the garlic chicken and the Szechuan chicken and both dishes were good. It’s just a few steps away from the Clark & Lake CTA stop, which is convenient when I’m lazy and just want to bring cheap, tasty Chinese food home.

I’m convinced — there is one man making all the fried rice for all the fast food Chinese places in the loop. That’s right. ONE. Why? Because it’s all garbage. This place being no exception. The braised chicken was kind of spicy, so that gets an extra star. That’s all. I’m never going to eat here again. Jaffa, I’ll be seeing you on my next visit to this food court — I knew I should have gone there!

Four stars almost exclusively for being one of the only places I can procure tofu within a ½ mile radius of my office. A good option for an herbivore who forgot her lunch. Szechuan Tofu… so salty, so good, so cheap.

I really enjoyed Chen’s Chinese Restaurant on Clark. I have ordered take out many times from there but Saturday night was the first time I have dined in at the restaurant. It’s such a nice atmosphere, and a great place for a date. We ordered the crispy shrimp appetizer, the sesame chicken and mongolian beef for dinner and they were all very tasty. The service was great– our waiter was so nice, and it’s reasonably priced. I think I’ll have to stop ordering take out and start dining in at this restaurant more often!

You’ll get pretty good value for your money here, but the food is on par with Panda Express, meaning you’ll be on the fast track to poor health if you dine here regularly! The adjacent food court is one of the most depressing places in the loop to consume a meal, I avoid coming here as the atmosphere generally gives me the willies.

This is your basic Chinese food-they are fast and they have a good selection. The prices are very resonable for what you get. I think it’s actually a lot of food!
