I really hope the guy owner reads this Unilocal review. I frequent this place for drinks and food. I visited the restaurant yesterday to order a turkey burger, granted is was nearly closing time so I ordered quickly, the waitstaff(I forgot his name, but he works there often with this other girl(both have been there for a really long time)…maybe Patrick?) brought my food over to me in a container and various sauces on top of the container and said to me «sorry we don’t have a bag.» I mean, I was tired and had a very hard day, and even gave him a $ 3.00 tip for food to go(bill was $ 11), and they didn’t even have 1 bag!!! Am I really going to stick a huge container of food with various sauces in my tote bag??! It was too late to eat at the restaurant. Maybe if he would’ve told me from the beginning that they didn’t have bags I would’ve left and gone elsewhere.

One star back. Turns out if you become a regular, you get treated very well. Soon as they step up that beer game, we’ll be looking at the full five. Biased of course, admittedly I’ve been bribed with free Guinness and shots of fireball. I actually want to complain about the fireball but i can’t because it’s free. The owner used to hand out shots of Glenfiddich.

I stopped by on a Thursday evening for a post-office drink and to fulfill a craving for pub food — and solo, not my usual M.O. Both the crowd(Cubs fans — it was a game night) and the bartender were friendly; service was attentive but not pushy. The Burke & Bacon Burger(medium rare) was juicy and filled the pub craving, as did the onion rings, which wafted deliciously of beer. Burke’s uses a mobile credit card terminal that they bring to your table(or your spot at the bar), where you swipe your card yourself and add tip directly on the terminal — though you still have to sign the printed receipt. A limited number of terminals means it can take slightly longer than average to close out your tab. I’m not sure the advantage of this system. All in all, this was exactly the stop I needed after a four long days at the office.

My husband and I had a great time tonight. The Black and Tan onion rings are a real treat. That sauce is so yummy. I had the beef stew special that was tasty and tender. The waitress was very friendly and just attentive enough. My husband loved that they had his favorite bottled beer and a bacon burger.

Very horrible treatment of would be regulars. Any bar in the area is better and has better staff. Not sure what they are angling for. Not regulars. Seem like good folk. Hope they make it. Sort of doubtful… maybe with a name like Burkes St. Patrich’s day will save them.

My wife and I dined here last evening before seeing a play at Steep Theatre. I had the generous chopped salad which was very tasty and my wife had a delicious turkey burger. The waffle fries were spilling off her large plate. The only miss was using Sysco ketchup rather than the real thing(Heinz, of course). Good beer selection, on tap and in bottles.

Smithwick’s was the perfect temperature. Three of us had a late lunch. Onion rings were wonderful. Two of us had burgers which were huge with a large side of waffle fries. Our third had the Italian beef. All very good. Great tvs for watching a game. Would definitely return.

Burke’s Public House is located at the corner of Broadway and Balmoral. We stopped by the other day for a drink at the bar before having dinner at a nearby restaurant. The chap behind the bar seemed friendly enough while serving us beers on tap. We did not have any of the food, but the man bun dude next to me ate something that came with waffle fries followed by a cup of soup. But dude did not finish his waffle fries! Dude! Oh well, we finished our refreshing beers at Burke’s.

I absolutely love Burke’s Public House! I became a regular customer the day I moved into the neighborhood, going 3+ years now! My girlfriend and her husband introduced this place to me and I’ve been happy since day one. Each of my visits over the course of the years have been nothing short of perfect! I have always felt so lucky to have such a gem in the neighborhood! Brunch, lunch, dinner, or just drinks! Burke’s has something for everyone! The thing I love the most about Burke’s is the kind of energy this place shares with its customers. When you come into Burke’s you really get that neighborhood bar feel and coming from someone who’s a regular it has been such a treat becoming a familiar face and occasionally they’ll even remember my name! I love that kind of business/customer dynamic, it’s very rare! The food has always been on point and the service is always a pleasure. I should mention that I am a vegetarian and the minute I looked at the menu my eyes lit up, no joke, they’ve got a wide selection of vegetarian options. My favorite over the years and to this day is the VEGGIECHILI! My God it’s good, Burke’s has ruined my taste for Veggie Chili on account to no one can come close to competing! It’s that good! By itself! Over their waffle fries! Over their Mac and cheese! And I can’t forget to mention their Nachos /Irish Nachos! Yum! It’s safe to say every visit for me means I want veggie chili! To sum it all up, Burke’s is a place where you can enjoy a great meal and the company you dine with! Whether you live in the neighborhood or visiting from the other side of town, you’ll always be welcomed and served with a genuine smile! Expect to see families with their kids, local college students, and neighboring residents. Be prepared to enjoy yourself!

The patio, during the warmer months, is magical at night. You do have to order inside, though, which can be tricky when it’s packed on weekends and during big games. The patrons were kind of rude and aggressive during the Stanley Cup. They almost always have some kind of drink specials. The appetizers are tasty and come in huge portions; we couldn’t finish them, and it was our dinner. The staff is as attentive as they can be.

Nothing fancy about this place but it’s clean, cool & sane people hang out there. Food is decent bar food and prices aren’t too bad. Friendly waitress.

Went to Burkes last night — Monday night– for the first time. LOVEDIT! The manger was very welcoming and funny. We had the turkey burgers and waffle fries. Tasty. But I have to say I gave the 5 stars are because of the welcoming relaxing atmosphere. Perfect Monday night meal and evening. .

This place just keeps getting more appealing. The outdoor patio gets better all the time, and the Bloody Marys are still delicious. The waitstaff is friendly and fantastic, and provides water for my pup. And the pancakes. .. they are delicious. No syrup even needed, these are really good.

My favorite local bar. I’m afraid to review it(if I have to wait next time I go there Lord help ya) but they’re worth it. Burke’s has a nice beer tap selection, not extensive but good variety with some local brew options; there’s a nice bottled need selection as well. The food is well made and delicious. It too is a nice variety, it’s not all the typical ‘greasy bar food.’ GREAT service, you can certainly tell the place is well managed. Finally, it’s clean, very clean!

Great sports bar place choice in area. Typical pub fair food; burgers, chicken sanwhichs and a few good specials. The waffle fries are a tasty standout and complementing side dish to their sandwich. The staff is attentive and they usually run a tap beer rotating special daily as well. In the summer they have a nice patio on tje sidewalk, one of the few in area. Good place for a cold beer, shot and tasty burger– with waffle fries.

Great little bar. Very chill, both times we’ve been here. Nice beer selection, too — and nice beer specials. TVs with mostly sports on them. When it’s hockey, I’m ok with that.

I like this place. The wife and I meet friends here, watch games here, etc. for example, tonight we had dinner with a woman who is most likely a vampire. Service is Good. I like the owner, who walks around to say hi to the customers every night. If he takes a day off, I don’t know about it. Here’s the problem: the food needs a lot of work. The vampire ordered a portobello sandwich that tasted like rosemary. Nothing else. Just rosemary. The wife ordered a grilled cheese that had multiple issues. First, there was maybe one slice of cheese and a ton of caramelized onions. Second, there is a crazy amount of bread for the one slice of cheese. There is literally a pile of excess bread on the wife’s plate. Third, her sandwich tasted like pretty much nothing. I would like to kick the cooks out of the kitchen and handle the orders myself. Since that is not an option, Mr. Burke needs to improve the food. Option B is just close the kitchen and let us order pizza.

Friend had a going away party here the other night. We had the adjacent room all to ourselves equipped with a full bar and bartender. Service was excellent! Nora, the bartender, even would hold out her hand for my squeezed limes like a mom does for her child’s gum.(please don’t try this though) We picked at random appetizers that were good. I liked the fried green beans, the hummus, and the waffle fries served w/aioli. Lots of TVs were in the room for game watching as well!

Cool spot as I came here quite late on a Sat evening with a good friend. There seems to be two sides to the place in which I guess they close off at a certain time. The open side was of course packed and not a table available so we stood around the bar area and grabbed drinks. People here seemed cool and they asked us what we needed even though we were standing all over the place. We finally grabbed a seat with about 15 mins to closing time. They have a helluva apple cider/whiskey drink that will get you where you need to be. I will come back to this joint a little earlier next time as everyone seemed to be enjoying the food.
