Sorry to read that it’s closed. A really, really good sub is hard to find.

What a loss… This place was great and will be missed dearly! Great family run business I’m sorry to see them closed. They had the best Chicken Salad sandwiches. And the man that ran the business always recognized my face whenever I walked in.

I’ve been here in a year but when I was here a few times. Sandwiches were really good. However, it’s quite pricey and not alot of meat. But it’s still good. Corned beef is my favorite.

Not what I think of when the word«deli» hits my ear. No huge deli case. Not like what you see in NYC. Then you eat one of their sandwiches and maybe you let it slide. I sure did. My first visit to Bryn Mawr Deli(BMD) occurred this past weekend. I was on babysitting duty and the boy and I ventured out to enjoy the nice fall, 85-degree day. My order consisted of the Italian Sub, always my default when I try a new deli. The sandwich, while not a behemoth, was certainly big. Filled with all the good ham, salami, pepperoni, cheese, and peppers a dude could want. The roll was fresh. Flaky and firm on the outside, soft on the inside and it really soaked up the oil, mustard, and mayo(I was going balls to the wall on this sammy). Pair it with a cream soda and I was in sandwich-hog heaven. Good thing Jack and I were walking home. Jack only ate a Mum-Mum, so he didn’t need to walk, just me. The place is cool. Clean and well lit, with nice tables and a friendly guy behind the counter. Also, the Bear game was on. I’m looking forward to heading back for the corned beef.

Prime location: right off of Lake Shore Drive on Bryn Mawr and Winthrop. One stop before the Sheridan exit on L.S.D. Restaurant: Very roomy, nice tables and chairs to sit down with friends at. Serve yourself soup section and carry-out counter. The vibe in the deli is very reminiscent to the one I felt when I worked at a family owned ice cream store in high school. It has a nice staff and a homey feel to it. Food: Delicious. Sandwich, soup, and pop for $ 7.99. I had the Chicken Tortilla Soup and Reuben. Chicken Tortilla Soup: Tasted like a marinated chicken soft taco was submerged in a bowl of zesty chicken broth. Had great spices and seasonings added to it. Great compliment to my sandwich. Reuben: Marble rye was toasted and corned beef was really juicy. Came with sauerkraut and thousand island. The dressing and sauerkraut were a little too sweet for my liking; not as tangy as I usually prefer but all the flavors worked very well together. Overall: This place gets 4.5 stars if I could give it that rating but unfortunately I am stuck giving it only 4 stars.

Subway? No way. Potbelly’s? Poor buddy. Jimmy John’s. What’s with the commercials? Nope, when I’m looking for a HUGE, high quality sammy, there’s one place I turn: Bryn Mawr deli. This is the epitome of your typ ‘neighborhood deli’ — tons of delicious options, friendly owners and staff, great prices and a few kitschy bistro tables to support your mortadella-consuming bum while you enjoy the best sandwich in the ‘hood. Bryn Mawr has recently become my Saturday afternoon staple(don’t tell Costello’s). A seriously impressive menu of subs, paninis, salads, etc. If you take more than five seconds to order, the owner will inevitably shove about half a dozen free samples your way. In fact, by the time you do decide what you want, you’re prolly already half way full, but how could you pass up the real deal? They have one of the best Reuben’s I’ve had in the area and the Bryn Mawr special seriously weighs about as much as a newborn… elephant. Share with a friend. So if you’re looking for a great sammy at a healthy price, Bryn Mawr’s got it. And they have a happy hour, too. Enter the sam-man.

If you have a friend I highly recommend you stop by after work for the happy hour deal. It’s basically«buy one sandwich or sub, get another sandwich or sub for an extra $ 2.» My friend and I each got one of the buffalo chicken salad sandwiches and it came out to less than $ 5 each with the deal. The sandwiches were pretty good. The bread was excellent. I really liked the guy working behind the counter(the owner I think) — he was pretty cool. I really liked the whole atmosphere of the place(although we took our food to go). I think I could go up to 5 stars if I end up getting a sandwich that is a little more traditional. Don’t get me wrong, the one I ordered was good, but I think this place would really shine with the cold cuts as opposed to the weird stuff. I’ll find out at some point, because I’ll be back.

My weekly lunch group went here last week and I know I’ll be back with or without them. Besides the good food, free appetizers and clean shop, the owner comped our drinks and checked on us to see if all was well Four star food & service Can’t be beat

Prrrretty good! There are quick to go options up at the register as well as freshly prepared sandwiches, wraps, or salads. I went with the custom wrap option and it was awesome. Although, if you ask for dijon you better really like dijon because it was loaded. I was able to scrape some of it off so that my nose wasn’t burning and taste buds exploding. Also, go for the black cherry soda, it’s frickin’ amazing!

I love the sandwches here. The buffalo chicken salad tastes just like a curry chicken I used to get in Scotland, and they offer a variety of side salads like heart of palm that are fan-freaking-licious. The bread is so fresh and tasty; I had the marble rye, and it’s really hard for me to even try anything else because it’s so damn good. You can get an old-fashioned root beer, cream soda or ginger ale to wash it down with, too. Everyone who works there, including the owner, is exceptionally friendly. It’s not dirt cheap, but still reasonable considering the quality of all the ingredients. One recommendation is to invest a bit more in the décor – it’s a little empty inside, like the room is just waiting for someone to come in and throw down some awesome design skills. Also, one day during the summer the AC was out, and it was UNBEARABLE in there. Not good airflow, unfortunately. Give it a shot next time you’re looking for a sandwich in the neighborhood, it’s worth it.

I came here after learning about it on Unilocal n i have to agree this place is great. They used fresh and high quality ingredients and the sandwiches are really tasty. I ordered a grilled vege sandwich and I’m a bit disappointed the vegetables like carrots and eggplant are still hard as rock even though there’s grill marks all over it. I guess I’m used to the soft smoky grill vegetables… yet it’s still great though. If you choose your seating, don’t sit by the doors when it’s cold. They don’t have 2 layers of doors that would cut the wind so you’ll feel the chill everytime someone opens the door…

This place is GREAT!!! Breakfast and lunch… I’ve loved every sandwich I’ve had here. And the owner and staff are so nice. I never bring my lunch to work(across the street) and so I am constantly eating out… I’d eat here everyday, but I wouldn’t want to get sick of it… which would never happen. It would just be a «timeout.» This is the kind a place that makes me feel good about supporting a local neighborhood small business. GOTHERE!!! Everything is fresh and delicious!!!

Before the mob attacks, let me get to the good: The owner is super, super nice and gave me a free drink on my first visit. The buffalo chicken panini is AMAZING. The buffalo chicken salad actually has a really great kick to it and is really fantastic with their potato salad. The 3 stars are for the other options, though. While I agree the turkey sandwich seemed to use fresh ingredients, it was just kinda meh. I mean, turkey, lettuce, tomato on average tasting white bread. I like my delis to have some expanded choices, like maybe baguettes or crusty rolls for bread and blue or brie cheeses. Is that so tough? Basically these are sandwiches your mom might make, but aren’t anything too special. Overall the owner is great and the food is tasty, but it’s really not 5 star write-home-to-mama for me. Also, I don’t know where these $ 5 sandwiches people talk about are, mine almost always come to $ 7, no matter what I get. There is also a $ 10 minimum to use debit/credit cards; I’ve known them to bend the rules, but there’s still a sign so carry cash to be safe. Wheelchair Accessibility Review– Completely accessible(Bryn Mawr El stop isn’t, but once you’re here, you’re golden). I can’t speak to any bathroom facilities because I haven’t used them, but otherwise you’ll have no issues getting in or out or maneuvering while inside.

Almost two years later… yep. Yep. Still addicted, LOL. When I first moved to the neighborhood, they didn’t have free wifi. Now they do, so it keeps getting better. There’s a good chance of stopping through and seeing me sitting behind my laptop with my big old wrap sandwich to my left and my grapefruit juice to my right. Oh Bryn Mawr Deli… never leave me!

This place rocks! 1. Fresh ingredients(the lettuce was GREEN, not limp and pathetic) 2. Flavorful sandwiches, including panini offerings 3. Awesome prices ~ $ 5 average for a sandwich 4. They use REAL bread, not the crappy Subway stuff… 5. Fabulous bottled soda made with cane sugar! yum! 6. Friendly staff 7. Hellllo – right near the Red Line, so no excuses ;) It’s homey. Go. Eat. Read the newspaper. Heck, write your Unilocal review there – free Wifi :)

My Lox-O-Meter went negative. I returned to give the place a second chance. Remember the Gong Show, and the Hook? Hook. Next. This«deli» sells no lox.

I’ve lived in the neighborhood for 3 years now, and love Bryn Mawr Deli! Reza, the owner, is so kind. He’s the type of guy who will wave when you walk to the train in the morning, let you come in out of the rain, give you a free cookie if he can sense you’ve just had a really bad day. And then he makes a really, really mean sandwich. His ingredients are always fresh, the bread is great, and I’ve never been dissastisfied with anything I’ve gotten there.(Particularly the tuna salad. Heaven. Pure heaven!) The deli itself is not designed to impress you, but the sandwiches will! the Deli is a true neighborhood gem.

I have lived a block away from this deli for about 9 months now, and today I finally decided to give it a try. I had a corned beef sandwich(one of the specials today) and a bowl of chili to go. The sandwich was pretty good, served on fresh bread with great quality vegetables(really green lettuce, ripe tomatoes) with tons of mayo/mustard on BOTH sides of the sandwich. Yummers. Did not enjoy the chili so much, but I am very picky when it comes to chili — I like runny, soupy chili with lots of chunks of tomatoes and peppers and other veggies and meat(believe it or not, Wendy’s chili is my fave). This chili was the total opposite, thick and chock full of beans and potatoes. Not so great in my book, but if you like hearty chili, check it out. The deli’s owner that everyone talks about was not around, but the girl at the counter was pleasant, humming along to the oldies playing in the background. Lots of seats available, there were only a few patrons who appeared to be taking advantage of the free wi-fi. I’ll be back to try some other items, fo’ sho’.

This is one of those places where I live 4 or 5 blocks away from and have passed a million times coming from Lake Shore Drive, yet I never stepped foot in it. Ever since it opened, I wondered about it and told myself that I would have to try it out sometime. And, almost 4 years later, I did… what a shame, I missed out on some really great food! What really got me motivated to try this deli out was the excellent Unilocal reviews it received. My boyfriend and I came in an hour before closing… it was just us and another couple, but they ordered to go while we stayed in. I ordered a turkey panini, my bf ordered the famous buffalo chicken panini, and we shared a bowl of chili. The chili was very good and hearty My turkey panini was great and my bf’s buffalo chicken was just WOW. It was so tasty and spicy, even without the ranch or blue cheese! I don’t know if I’d be able to finish a whole sandwich by myself because of it’s spiciness, but it was perfect for my bf, being the Mexican he is. So, every once in a while, I had to steal a couple of bites from him. As was mentioned in these reviews, the owner is a genuinely nice guy… even gave us a free cookie for being first-timers! The deli also has weekday specials and also options to get a half-sandwich with a cup of soup. I probably will be frequenting this spot now that I know how great it is. So, forget Panera! If you do go, be sure to try the owner’s amazing creation… the buffalo chicken panini!

Great sandwiches. My cousin and I bought some sandwiches and were enjoying the time(spent about $ 8 bucks each). His girlfriend walks in(cute white girl) manager asked if she wanted anything, She said she WASN’T hungry. He says, you must try the soup its good. Gave her a free bowl. A BOWL! Me and cousin share a look. He saw it, so he says. «oh, the spicy chicken salad is great, you try», offered us a taste on a fork. It was good, so purchased a spicy chicken salad sandwich to go. Panini was awesome. Menu items are $ 4+, sandwich+drink+side could be less than $ 7 dollars. They had hookahs in the store, not sure if they were for sale or if you could smoke them. –went in today for takeout, 3-27-2007. Everyone loved the sandwiches, panini’s were extra loved. Its great that they will add hot peppers on any sandwich and its not extra. Reza is a engaging nice guy. Asked if I worked local, etc. I mentioned I’d been in before and live a few miles away and really wanted their sandwiches. He was happy about that. He shared the happiness by offering me some free chips and a few pickles. Yum! Honestly I would’ve just paid for it. Oh. The hookahs were for sale. He sold the ones he had. But, if you are interested, ask about it, he can get more.
