So Bendan’s is literally right around the corner from where I am living right now. I’ve been past here several dozen times. It always looked like a nice neighborhood pub, but I never wandered in. Fast forward to tonight: My wife and I were enjoying the nice, mild end of January temperatures(thank you, El Nino) and came by Brendan’s. We found a spot at the end of the bar, checked out the TV’s and ordered a couple beers. The beer selection is actually quite nice, and we had no issue finding drafts that we would both like. We struck a conversation with Matt, the really awesome bartender, and watched the folks heading to the speakeasy downstairs. Suffice it to say that we had a great time. This is a really nice local, neighborhood bar. Small, local, crafty, slightly hipster, but generally really nice. We had some great conversations — from the bartender, to the local at the end of the bar who just wanted to see the UFC fight, to the lesbian couple who were awesome. I am frankly very impressed. I wish I had come in here a long time ago. Brendan’s is a great local pub and I think it is very likely to be my local haunt.

Brendan’s is a great bar. If you’re from the Boston area, you’ll love it. The owner, Stephen is an absolute doll. The basement is an excellent place to reserve for a party. The décor is warm and friendly, as are the bartenders. The crowd is also friendly. A GREAT neighborhood spot!

Lower Broadway, a great Speak Easy feel, a cool place to watch the games, service is always on point. Stopped down to check it out, and it has the feel of a nice, relaxed environment. Much more my style compared to the loud bigger bars of the present.

Great little pub, especially if you’re a Boston sports fan. If so, then this place is your Chicago home. The gent who works at the upstairs bar is a gem. Friendly, asks everyone’s name, and keeps the drinks coming. The downstairs is a great environment to watch the game, but the bartender down here is inattentive and seems shitfaced. If people are sitting in every seat around the bar, you need to look beyond the first line for customers needing a drink.

Great place to watch the Patriots(or any other NE team) game. Very much a neighborhood type bar. They don’t serve food, but they do have popcorn and you can bring food from other restaurants in.

Fun crowd, so hospitable they give you roses and sing along to the jute box. Love the music selection, it brings you back to the good times :) plus there’s popcorn!

I’ve been at this bar when the Red Sox won the series and when the Bruins won the cup but I’ve always stayed upstairs. Gave a 5 star review each time. But I Tried downstairs today and it was awful. Like a depressed cellar with a bartender that yelled at customers. There are tons of New England bars in this city(Tripoli Tavern) and we’ll be visiting them next game.

wow… just had my first experience at brendans lower broadway what a great space with a speakeasy feel! the owner threw a welcome home party for us with catered food, we and our friends had a great time! the food was outstanding the drinks were flowing, if you find yourself in east lakeview stop in for a drink and if your in need of a venue for any kind of gathering ask about lower broadway and its rates. you wont regret it!

Great little friendly neighborhood pub. Bartender not pretentious, people watching, etc. A lot going on(in a good way) for a tiny place. Little conversations with neighbors here & there. Great place to chill.

Patriot, Bruins, Red Sox Bar — ay Bostonians, you have found yah bah. I went there on a weekend night and there was no issue getting drinks. Bartenders are non-pretentious and attentive enough. For a one-timer — think your average Pub — Descent beer selection, full liquor bar, couple TVs, dimly lit, decently priced, feel good music… pretty much most bars in Boston described here. **Reviewed by one-time visitor

Had a great time at Brendan’s! Have been craving a Boston atmosphere since my move to the midwest and this place answered the call. Everything felt like home — from being greeted by fellow Bruins fans when I walked in, to the Irish pub interior, to getting a personal tour of the renovated downstairs by Steve, the owner. This is one of those rare spots where you can hold a conversation with the bartender, you can watch a Boston game(with audio), and post up next to strangers who aren’t afraid to say hi to you and clank glasses. Looking forward to my return here. Steve — thanks again for the shirt!

Only reason I can’t give Brendan’s 5 stars is the lack of a second bartender when it gets crowded on weekends. But that’s it. This is my go-to local joint. On the higher end of dive bars. Good alcohol/beer selection and the drinks are reasonably priced. Regulars and staff are both friendly and welcoming– the kind of people who don’t mind some friendly small talk and will buy you a drink if you’re funny or cute enough. Bring your own food if you are too posh for the $ 1.50 Guiness-steamed hotdogs and bags of chips. And bring enough to share

Cute little bar I ventured in on my way to the laugh factory. Really small, but cozy, vintage feel. The type a place you run into friends and come in after a long day of work. I almost wish I lived closer. I loved it.

An Irish pub in Lakeview is, surprisingly, kind of a rarity. Low-key and classic is how I would define the ambiance of Brendan’s. It’s dark interior makes it a good place to hang with your chums or have a quiet date night away of the bawdiness of Broadway.
