I really like this place. Every time I come, the owner, Barbara takes really good care of me. My hair is all natural and a bit course, but I never get any complains at Biby’s(yes, other places have had commentary on my hair texture in the past). She starts with a rolling set, and then I always ask her to straighten it after. I find that when she does this in combination with a Dominican deep conditioning, my hair looks shinny and healthy even after I wash my hair a couple of weeks after. Pricing is a lot better then most boutique shops and it’s right in front of the Armitage and Ridgeway bus stop. My only recommendation is that you make an appointment! I can tell Barbara tries to be accommodating to her clients, but everything’s a lot smoother when she knows I’m coming well in advanced.

Biby was awesome. It’s so hard to find a place to get a relaxer that isn’t on the south side or costs $ 150 at some boutique. The price for a relaxer, cut and style blew me away. And she did a fantastic job. I got compliments on my hair for the whole week. Also, Biby had me in and out of the salon in 90 minutes. IMPRESSED. I will be a returning customer.

I’ve been here a handful of times to get a relaxer. Biby is quick and efficient which is exactly what I was looking for. I am new to Chicago and it was great to find a Dominican hair salon that is not over priced. Nothing fancy but it is nice and clean.

Okay so Biby does an «okay» job. I mean she knows how to roll hair put you under a hot dryer and blow it out but she doesn’t ensure that the style actually looks cute. She doesn’t know how to truly style natural or semi-natural hair. Instead she will tell you you need a perm when you complain about the style because she really doesn’t know how to style or manage black or for that matter mixed hair. Biby is a good place to go to if you need to get your hair done and plan to put bobby pins in it or put it in a semi ponytail. She is not a great person to go to if you plan on going on a date or to a prom and have african american hair that you want loose curls in that fall appropriately, you will need to arrange your hair yourself. If you know how the curls will fall beautifully and last for 2 weeks. She might be good for pinups or updoes i’m not sure b/i haven’t had her do that. On another note, I found Biby to be EXTREMELY R-U-D-E when she overbooks or allows you to come in spur of the moment and then you complain because you don’t like the style and want her to fix it. VERYUNPROFESSIONAL!!! I still tipped her regardless of the fact that she literally told me she wasn’t going to fix it because she’s too busy and keep in mind I didn’t ask her for anything major I just told her I didn’t like the style. Never come on saturday. If you come come on weekday mornings or afternoons. Please take note there is another dominican hair salon a few blocks down the street they are pretty decent I recommend them. Santo Domingo. They do about equal work although my hair is softer when Biby does it. I was just so insulted with her behavior the last time I saw her and her inability to find the time to actually make my hair look presentable and not like a bobble head.

Great service for a pretty decent price. Biby does the best to treat my curly hair. Not many salons can handle coarse hair and blow dry like they do. Is not fancy, but who cares? Your hair won’t tell the difference. Will go back again and again.

My hair is curly and I love going to Dominican hair salons because they know how to deal with my hair texture. The beauticians were all sweet and nice especially when I called ahead to see how late they were open and how much everything cost. Yes they all speak English so no worries if you don’t speak Spanish. I got a wash, haircut, and blow dry straight for 45 dollars. Seems like a lot but its so worth it and hell I would charge that much if you had my hair. One thing I love about Dominican hair salons is they don’t mess around. If you have curly ass hair like mine and you want it straight looking, you will leave this place as you wished. They get the job done. They accept credit cards however there is a 2 dollar charge added to it. I live way east of this place but its worth the trek to come get your hair done here.

I went with my wife to get her hair cut here. She looked great afterwards and the cut was only $ 12. That didn’t include styling or washing her hair. The inside is nice, but not with all the frills that more up-scale places have. The beauticians were very friendly and welcoming.
