If I could give this salon zero stars I would! I had long hair almost down my lower back and I told the«OWNER» just to trim the ends which should have been an inch the most. But instead she cut about 4/5inches!!! I repeated myself a thousand times before she even took took out her scissors even demonstrated the amount to her, that I just wanted my split ends cut off all same length. And not to mention she also cut it in layers when I never even asked her to. I like my hair all the same length even though I had a couple of strands in the front layered to begin with. She just went off and assumed and messed up my hair. I’ve spend a good few years trying to let my hair grow out & kept it healthy because my goal was to have naturally long hair. It hurts to know my hair was so close to reach its goal. It went from almost reaching my lower back to being cut right above my bra strap. How devastating it is to have someone who’s apparently envious and reeks off jealousy to do this to another woman. Because she certainly knew about my hair growth process, meaning we actually had convos. Should’ve never given her the benefit of the doubt. Being pretty comes with a curse, it really does! *BEAUTIFULWOMENOUTTHEREBEWARE!!! We should be uplifting each other not tearing each other down. If you’re insecure you shouldn’t even be working at a hair salon to fix up other dolls. Shame on you JULIE!!!

I have been going to this salon for about 2 years now and I am a fan. I usually get either a wash and set($ 45) or a touch up on my relaxer($ 70). I sometimes call ahead but the salon is never busy. The longest I had to wait for a stylist was 20 minutes. They always have taken good care of my hair and I am happy with the results when I leave whether I ask for it super straight or a little curly and bouncy. The salon is clean and spacious, not at all fancy, but the stylists are always friendly. The prices are more than I was used to paying back home on the East Coast, but they do a good job!

Got roller set and blow dry they charged me $ 75.00 … Definitely not worth it at all!!! I will never step foot in this salon again.

I went to Santo Domingo Salon hoping to receive the treatments and good hair care as I did back home… and I must say this did not live up to my expectations. They used no professional hair products, but the cheap kind that I could find in any hair store! They were not very interested in healthy hair care(which is all that matters to me) and showed very little interest in my hair concerns and goals. They also were not very knowledgeable about my hair issues(breakage) when I brought it to their attention. I probably will not be attending this salon again, I have now found a hair stylist that fits my needs and lifestyle.

So far this is the closest experience to what I am accustomed to getting on the East Coast. Products and blow-dry techniques are different. However, I didn’t have an appointment and was serviced immediately(total process too 2 hours). After set, I had my hair flatironed with curls on the end. On the East Coast the stylist would have pin-curled vs here my hair was spiral curled. Salon was clean, spacious, and vivid with bright colors. Everyone was very friendly and attentive. I have three cons(-): 1) The salon does not publish and post prices for services. That would lead me to think there are different prices for different people. Not a good business practice. 2) I was burned several times during blow dry by the«steam». 3) Prices are not in alignment with traditional Dominican salons. On the East Coast«Doobies» are $ 20-$ 30. I will visit this salon again.

I feel I was a victim of fraud! I went in there my first time I was charged $ 100 dollars. I had my «roots» touched $ 60.00 seriously I could have done it myself for $ 20. The owner did not even completely blowed dry my hair. $ 40 dollars! I have never felt so scammed in my life. If the salon was in a high end area I could understand but it is in the hood. I think that my biggest mystake was telling them that I was out of town. They took advantage of that!

Santo Domingo is very good. They don’t get your hair bone straight. Still nothing like the east coast. But they get your hair straight«enough.» Very pricey. They charge me something like $ 65 for a blowout and $ 10 more for the flat iron which I have to get because they don’t get my roots all the way straight with the blow dryer. They do get you in and out so that’s a good thing. And they aren’t as harsh on your hair as most dominican spots. I will go there again just because they don’t you have sitting there for hours like Biby’s which is down the street.

Been coming here for about 2.5 years and really like it. I love that you don’t need an appointment and that they are open on Sundays. I am usually in and out in under 2 hours which is a plus. Sometimes I get a roller set and sometimes I have them just do a blow out — both last well over a week. I am happy with the results and and my hair is very healthy! It’s not as reasonably priced as the Dominicans in NYC, but is still on the lower end for a wash and set. Very nice ladies and always happy to support female small business owners!

I came to Chicago on business for 6 weeks and Santo Domingo took good care of me! They were flexible & did my hair just as I requested. Well recommended!

I was really impressed with this salon. As previously mentioned, no frills but they get you in and out and do a good job. The ladies were really nice. I understand Spanish so I was waiting for them to talk about my hair but they didn’t. Very friendly staff. Carry cash on Sundays.

I was in and out of the salon very quickly. My hair looks amazing. It looked like I have just got a perm even with all the new growth I have. It only was 35 for a wash and set. It looks just like how the Dominican back home had it. Will definitely be making this my regular salon.

As an East Coaster who moved to the Midwest, I was terrified after attending numerous«so-called» dominican beauty salons. My hair was frizzy 10 minutes after leaving, and I thought I was just going to have to suck it up that Chicago had no good salons. Then, I found this place. The two girls who work here are amazing and sweet. They do a fantastic job, and they are super fast. It’s totally worth the out of the way location – and for being the ONLY good Dominican salon, the price is reasonable(still more than East Coast, but it is WORTH it). If you have curly crazy hair, this place gives you the best blow out in town. TOTALLY recommend it, especially to any of you used to an East Coast blow out.

I agree with Anne B. that this salon is not fancy at all and there are no frills here. However, if you are a girl with super hard-to-manage curly hair like myself and if you’re even the least bit skeptical, then throw that out the window. I called the day before Thanksgiving to see if there was any time slot that they could fit me in during a busy holiday weekend. She told me they were open on Thanksgiving Day and the day after Thanksgiving, just come on in between the hours of 9 – 3. Say what?!? I stop in on that Friday and I try to get there as early as possible. There are already 2 girls ahead of me and 3 behind, but that didn’t matter. Homegirl was working it by herself with some help from another women(I’m assuming her mother), got my hair straight and fresh AND I was out in less than 2 hours. I’d heard stories about Dominican salons and all of the heat, but if you’ve been to Egyptian salons, then I’d say that your hair is in MUCH better hands. Plus, the street parking is pretty accessible and she accepts credit cards. Big win, in my book.

After searching for over a year for a place that could give me a real Dominican blowout like the ones I was used to getting on the east coast, instead of the horrors that the Egyptian shops have done to this poor little brown girl’s head of hair, I have finally found the right one. It’s not fancy… ATALL. And it’s def a bit out of the way if you live downtown(like me) or near north or… anywhere far away really. :) I realize the not-at-all fancy place and the location might turn some people away, but they do hair very well. Those of you coming from the east coast looking for those fast-Spanish-speaking Dominican hairdressers who could give you roller set and a blowout and have you looking like not a curl ever existed in your hair when you walk out? You’re in luck. Give them a try.
