I went here for st pattys and they gave me a non-green beer. I was so embarrassed and all my friends made fun of me. Fun place but really hurt my self-esteem

Great place to go if you are looking for an upscale fancy restaurant. We stopped in for a couple drinks during the afternoon. The service was very good and there was a large selection of drinks. We received a few dirty looks from the few surrounding tables that there were(the place was very empty) because maybe we were being a little too loud. Probably not the place for kids in their twenties to go grab a drink on a Saturday afternoon. I cannot say that it’s good for dinner because I did not eat there but I would imagine that they do a very good job for dinner. Our waiter was also very friendly. Overall, very nice place.

Bar Louie always has great drinks and great food. The sangria is delicious and doesn’t taste like pure alcohol. On a previous visit, I got the braised mussels and they were so satisfying. Pretty spicy, and so tender. This time I got the pot stickers and the chicken pot pie soup. Both were fantastic, although I wish there had been more potstickers!

I’ll never step foot in a Bar Louie again. The staff at this bar/restaurant were some of the worst I’ve ever experienced. New Years day with 3 other customers in the place and I had to send my food back 3 times and it still wasn’t correct. The manager came and apologized and ended up comping the tab but, 2 of the 3 bartenders I dealt with were very rude and acted as if they couldn’t care less. I think it’s a common problem at Bar Louie’s and not just this particular location. Me and my family will not be going to Bar Louie ever again. If you’re visiting Chicago there are many better places to go, don’t waste your time and money at Bar Louie!

We had Michael at the bar as our server/bartender and it was by far the worst service I have had in years. Took 15 minutes for him to greet us– totally inattentive– had to hand him our check in order to get out of there after waiting for a long time… And we were trying to make a show at a House of Blues. If you like your business to have good reviews and good service… This isn’t the guy you want working for you. Sorry to say it, I always give the servers the benefit of the doubt but this was pure laziness.

I totally recommend the Dearborn location for the weekday specials… The service is great and the deals are awesome. I stop here from time to time after work for happy hour. Great place to have a drink if you just want to unwind a bit after a long day… Also I prefer their beer selection over the the other locations.

The worst service and terrible all around staff. The drinks were over priced and the doorman thought he was some macho hot shot with far too big of an ego. This place is seriously the worst. Do NOT recommend.

We came back yesterday evening for the one-dollar Tuesday happy hour burger special. Of course, your buck gets you only a good, thick beef(well-done only), turkey, or chicken patty, or portobello mushroom, on a bun with shredded lettuce. Then come the add-ons: 75 cents for your choice of three cheeses(cheddar, pepper jack, or provolone); 50 cents each for five veggie topping choices(onions, mushrooms, jalapenos, tomato, and pickle); some extra-fare sauces. There’s a little ambiguity on the menu, though; my wife and I both parsed it as 50 cents for all five veggie toppings. Still a bargain. The burger was thick enough to have some structural engineering problems; a couple of strategically-placed toothpicks would have made it more manageable. My first beer choice, Surly Brewing’s Furious, was off; I ended up with the familiar but excellent Revolution Brewing Company Anti-Hero IPA. Not very crowded on a rainy Tuesday night, although the first game of the World Series was to begin just after our visit, and part of the dining room had been blocked off for a large group, presumably Series-connected. Very pleasant and helpful(and not very busy) waitress. One oddity: The shades on all the wall sconces have two orange stickers reading«Beware.» Er, of what? They emit gamma rays? Spitting cobras nest in them? The waitress was unable to explain; «That’s a good question for the manager,» quoth she.

Bar Louie hosted us for my 10 yr High School Reunion this past Saturday and everything went perfectly. They were set up on time, set aside a generous amount of reserved space and had a private bar & food tables all setup without hesitation. Their staff was friendly and they kept the party going all night. They gave us a great pre-paid deal which worked out well for everyone. I also didn’t have to collect money from each individual guest for the check which was even better. Highly recommend this place for any events or parties!

Awesome place for a party or event! I recently had an event at Bar Louie River North and it couldn’t have gone smoother due to the hard work and professionalism of their Event Manager, Amanda Woods. She had a perfect area partitioned off for our group, as well as perfect placing for a burger bar and flatbreads. We had glowing reviews of our event and we will be returning often!

Not impressed. I went here for CARPLS trivia night and the staff had absolutely no interest in serving me. During the course of 2.5 hours, one server came by the table. The one drink I was actually able to get came from the bar and it wasn’t easy to get anyone to pay attention to me. Do not plan to return. I am giving this bar a 2 because the food was passable. Staff put out a guacamole/hummus/spinach dip buffet that was okay. The salad was mostly red onions, but otherwise it was okay. Lied. I was going to give 2 stars because of the food, but then the staff cleared my wife’s half full beer without asking me. The only thing this bar can handle is clearing tables.

This location wasn’t as good as I remembered the Evanston location to be but the new happy hour prices were great! A cool place for drinks and a burger after work!

I’ve said it time in time again… if you live inChicago you should be ashamed of yourself going to places like this… yes I am a certified restaurant chain hater. Okay now that that’s out of the way… we had so much fun. I don’t know if it was the beautiful night, the good music, or the ridiculously sweet drinks that sneak up on you, but something was right. After not being able to get into Streetville Social cause they were hosting a private event(shame on you… lol) we headed here cause we knew the cocktails are always good at Bar Louie. Plus this location has outdoor seating. What more can you ask from from a chain. I probably will not be back, but never say never.

You seat yourself here. I found a seat and the table was gummy, the waitress came by and I asked her if it could be wiped down. She tells me that it will still be sticky after she wipes it down bc of the type of table it is… Weird. I ask her if she could just do it anyway. She says sure… Happy Hour food specials were good deals. Half price appetizers(calamari, quesadillas, etc) Decent bar food. The drinks… 1 star worthy. I wouldn’t waste my money on buying a drink from here it was just so weak. Maybe it’s just this location. I definitely will try a different location bc this one sucked.

I came here with the River North St. Patrick’s Day crowd and while I wasn’t expecting amazing service, I certainly didn’t expect to be blatantly ignored by our bartender. I get it, the bar was full of drunk slobs in the their green finery. People were being obnoxious. However, i was among a slew of patient people at the bar waiting to order and pay for our overpriced Bud Light and Jameson and cokes. There were 3 bartenders behind the bar, 2 female bartenders who were killing it, running around and quickly and efficiently servicing their customers at the other ends of the bar. Unfortunately, my end of the bar was being serviced by a guy with the work ethic of Santa Claus. In the fifteen minutes I waited to be serviced, I watched several people who got to the bar after me get served and then watched as a cougar approached, our bartender recognized her, poured her and her friend a shot, and then poured himself one, and he and his man-bun slugged it back. He might need to have a stiff one in order to handle the crowds, but don’t take a shot right in front of me while I’m waiting to order mine.

Ouch. 2−½ star average? Either I visited on a good day/time, or I’m just nicer than most other Unilocalers. It’s probably 20% the former, 80% the latter. The food was on-par with suburban Bar Louie’s I’ve been to(Bolingbrook, Oak Park), which is to say, pretty good quality but far from cheap. I downed two Allagash White ales($ 4.25 each, not bad), their Bavarian pretzel sticks with queso, honey mustard, and cinnamon butter($ 8.50), and an order of their boneless wings in the hottest sauce they carried. Which brings us to the 3rd edition of… ~The Sticky Fingers Challenge~ Competitor: River North Bar Louie(but applies for any/all BL locations) Menu Item: Boneless Hot Wings«En Fuego» Features: served with anemic celery, carrot sticks, and blue cheese Verdict: 3 out of 4 screaming skulls Bottom Line: Bar Louie does not f*ck around when it comes to hot wings. Sure, they’re $ 10 for less than ten wings, which is actually a horrendous value… but the heat. OHTHEHEAT. A searing, lingering spicy accented with terrific flavor. Perfect amount of breading – not too much, nor too little – and excellent quality chicken. I made it all the way to the second-to-last wing before I found myself searching for a glass of ice water. Very hot, and NOT for the faint of heart. I positively loved them. My bill for 2 beers + pretzels + wings came to $ 35 with tip, which was way more than I hoped to spend on a Wednesday dinner, but damn did it hit the spot. Ashley the bartender took good care of me. I don’t know what causes people(and a lot of them) to flame this location; the only flaming I experienced was in the bathroom the next morning(thanks hot wings). :\

I’m not normally a fan of chain places form the burbs, but I really like this Bar Louie location. I’ve been here a few times including a surprise party that my girlfriend threw for me. They have a great beer selection, good appetizers and a nice outdoor space. Also, it’s open until 3am on Saturdays! Yeah, that’s not I didn’t say 2, but 3am! Some of the apps I recommend are: — Crispy Calamari — Loaded Tots — Bavarian Pretzel Sticks! — Chicken Nachos Wayyy better than your average suburban chain, this place is legit.
