Love the variety of burgers they have. I think it is better than the other bars in the area. Service and atmosphere is alright.

I’m a fan of the dollar burgers and they are delicious. I love it. You should also know that the dollar usually runs into more than $ 10 with all the other stuff that you add on to the burger and the drink that you should get but still it’s a great deal and I love my tuesday night bar louie hangout

This place is really narrow and you feel like you get stepped on by people as they walk past you. Boyfriend and I ate nachos and spinach artichoke dip during Happy Hour. It was AWESOME to get a ton of food at a great price, and I was impressed that the got the food out quickly(I was on break from work.) We didn’t drink anything or eat anything but the appetizers, but our waitress was very friendly and they were prompt with our tasty food. Monday through Friday 4 – 7 pm half price appetizers. Makes a great cheap date.

When my wife and I lived in the Old Irving Park area, Bar Louie was one of our favorite places to «Blue Line-it» to. Great atmosphere, superb menu… probably warrant five stars, but sticking with four. They used to have a Pizza Panini on their menu years ago that was simply delicious — sausage, pepperoni, good sauce, pressed together. I’m disappointed that they got rid of that. Closest one now is in Naperville. We go there every once in a while.

Used to hang at this bar louie when I was in Cooking school. Much has changed. Now it sucks. Back when Cabrini green was still packing them in, we would be entertained by «street performers», now the only entertainment is convincing your date if we skip out on the bill, we may get arrested. In days of yore, there were artsy tatooed and pierced staff that at least pretended to care. Now an indifferent breed of corporate shill exists to only squeeze every last penny from your wallet. I looked at the website, I was shocked to see so many locations, spreading across America like a melanoma. Fried food plated high, martinis that taste like cough syrup, all for the low low price of way too much.

Call me weird, but I’ve insisted on going to dollar burger Tuesdays at Bar Louie since the beginning of college(um, 7 years ago?). I think they’re the perfect size and just deelish. The fries are also really good. This Bar Louie is also a lot smaller and cuter than other Bar Louie’s, so I prefer to go here over other joints. That said, the drinks are definitely always too sweet, and the beer on tap was warm one time(yuck).

Sadly they can’t even make their drinks on the menu. Asked for a mojito got some syrup in a cup. The guy behind the counter just couldn’t make it for the life of him. Turns out he was the MANAGER!!!

The staff is horrible. After being ignored for an extended period of time, a waitress came to take our order. I ordered the cheese quesadillas. They must have gone to make the cheese themselves, because the quesadilla took a very long time to make it’s way to me. The quesadilla came with guacamole, sour cream and pico de gallo. The guacamole was rancid. I was offered no apology for the rancid guacamole. Stay away.

They have a new management staff and the bartenders are great! I always liked the food especially that this one serves food up until an hour before the close so that’s 3−4AM!!! Nothing like a Luigi at 3am! Nice and divey, just the way I like it… I did find out that this one is the first Bar Louie in Chicago which is why its so old looking. I was there last night and there were some smokin; babes from Enclave in there and the Hooters girls but always followed by the muscle head douches that follow. Good fun 4am bar!

So I get what I think is a fabulous deal from Groupon: $ 35 gift certificate for $ 15. Andy and I go last Friday. We had both not been to a Bar Louie in many years. When we get there the place is about 95% full, but we found a table in the back. It was next to a chalkboard which listed the Friday specials. The board read: $ 3 Dos Equis, $ 5 Nachos and $ 3 Margaritas. Now I dont know about you, but when I read that I think ANY margarita is $ 3. Am I wrong? Why would I think only certain ones were part of the special, especially if I place an order with the waitress, gesture towards the board and nothing is said to contradict that? Well, my friends, apparently in Bar Louie world«margaritas» refer to only one kind, the«plain». So after I order a pear, then a pomegranate, we eat dinner and get ready to pay, these drinks show up as TENDOLLARSEACH on the bill. Holy crap! I would never had ordered those had I known!(of course no price noted in the menu either!) I found this discrepancy out by overhearing the other server telling another patron about the specials, but of course by this time we had paid and it was too late. I know I should have complained right then and there but by this time the place was pretty packed and loud. I may end up amending this review if I get a satisfactory response to the email I sent them, so we will see, but seriously, the margaritas at bar Louie are a great deal at $ 3(if you can get it and not get shafted) — not in any way worth ten! Who knew you had to be careful around specials!

The Burger was decent. But I put Bar Louie in the same category as every other Burger joint that I will visit in my life, Kuma has ruined you all. They did do quite the bait and switch on us by charging us $ 10.00 for a Margarita that was posted as being $ 3.00. I don’t know about anyone else, but if I pay $ 10.00 for a Margarita, it had better come in a fish bowl and clean my living room when I’m done drinking it.

It’s a given that every Bar Louie is different. Different staff, management equals different level of service. Which in turn also affects their food and drinks. I’ve had nearly all of their specialty drinks, which I find very overpriced. And half the time, they under-pour the liquor portions. Too much sweet and sour, or some other form of mix substitute. Shame really. I do enjoy their Burger days though. I usually get the Cajun. The bread itself is extremely filling, and the large serving of food only adds to the enjoyment. This establishment compared to the others is rather quaint. You could say a bit more intimate. The staff are friendly, and they seem to know what they’re doing. But it’s never consistent, as I come here a lot to see my friend who works downtown.

A hit or miss place that leans toward miss The Bar Louie franchise spawn near my office is visited by me fairly infrequently due to its tendency to be not as good as I had hoped for — I’ll have a dish there that I think is pretty good, but then the next time I order it will be garbage. I tend to get the Blackened Fish Po’ Boy, which on a good day is a decent meal. My coworkers and I have ordered from here before where something about the meal just tastes funky, like something has gone amiss with the ingredients. Ugh. The atmosphere of the place is turn off as well. Too loud and bad music is blaring at levels that make it a big no for a business type meeting(or for just keeping your sanity. The one thing it has going for it is the $ 2 burger night on Tuesdays after 5:00. Sadly you are required to dine in AND buy a drink, but it’s a decently cooked burger with a variety of tempting toppings(which, of course, cost extra).

This review is just based on lunches. More like 3.5 stars, but I rounded down once, and I like to be consistent. I never had a problem with Bar Louie. Matter of fact one time I ordered a side of tots instead of fries, and the bartender must not have heard me(we were sitting at the bar). He ended up giving me a huge basket of tots because of the mistake. It is a small space, but the servers are nice, and the menu has some good choices. It’s bar food, and it is above average bar food. The extra .5 star is because they have tots, and I love tots.

Who knew that this tiny bar between two pretentious clubs would serve as a bathroom hub for sexy ladies. What lures you and the sexy women inside are the insatiable sounds of hip hop music, the DJ playing this past weekend was bangin’. It helps that they left the front door wide open. Track after track of all the best hits you wish you had on your iPod or playlist. This bar is too small. Patrons are seated around the bar which make drink ordering a process, so grab a waitress. Between the bartender and the waitress there was some miscommunication with drink pricing. I had a drink which required a bit more gusto, they didn’t have a handle on how to charge, so they overcharged me. That’s nice. Bathrooms are singles so please lock the damn door! The men’s room has mirrors all around, so if you leave that door unlocked and another dude walks in, its not cause he’s gay, but because you wanted him to see your«BO jangly jangly» Drunk ass. P. S., dude with the red and white Fila hat and the silly Max Headrom white striped sunglasses, that’s so 80’s. You ain’t LL Cool J. Lock the damn door. P. S.S. to the thirty something Indian chick who was trying not to look Indian. You’re too old to be having an identity crisis, from now on tell everyone you’re a coconut. P. S.S.S Bartender, Ima need you to know your stock. Kilo Kai is rum and its from the Effen peeps. That’s Chicago, you should know that. And how to charge people, it ain’t top shelf, Mang.

Went here for dinner last night because my bf was craving the loaded tator tots. Here’s the rest of what we got. 1. Loaded tator tots — needs to be more crispy, so if you desire an extra crunch, make sure you ask for extra crispy while you order. Also, not enough cheese. Still good, but could have been better. 2. Chili — Really good in my opinion but my bf considered it too watery. He likes chuckier chili 3. BBQ Pork sliders — ehh. OK. nothing great. Wish they toasted the buns or something. I can make better ones at home. 4. 20 oz beer — Miller lite and Guinness — that was awesome that they come in that size. We only had one with dinner and that was the perfect amount to wash down food. Would go again for the loaded tators, but wouldn’t order any other food.

I’m only a fan of Tuesday nights at this place. It’s tiny and has no ventilation and fills with cigarette smoke. Tuesday’s nights though, they have dollar burger night. I gotta say, the burgers are ½ pound or more, and are great. So don’t expect a slider, believe me you will be filled up. It’s an additional .50 cent per topping, and 1.99 for fries or tater tots. For less than 4 bucks you get a charbroiled masterpiece. Check it out on Tuesday nights, and make sure you mention it because they don’t promote it. Overall food is pretty good there. In the words of Sam Jackson in Pulp Fiction — «Mmm-mmmm. That is a tasty burger.»

I guess everybody hates this place. Um, I’ve never had a bad experience here, and I used to go here all the time. Now, granted, I’ve never been here while the sun’s been shining, so perhaps that’s the trick — only come here after 2 am. I mean, every time I’ve ever been here late night, it’s been the exact type of experience I was looking for. I never had any kind of real problem with service, the bartenders have been pleasant, and the food has been pretty decent. Foodwise, not everything on the menu is a winner, I admit. Like I said, it’s pretty decent, not spectacular. But, I do think that the Luigi is a fine sandwich, especially at 3 in the morning. I also think that this location is much better than many of the others which are spread out around the city. Maybe it’s just because this one is small, dark, and I can usually find a seat. Maybe it’s just because I used to go here with my friends all the time and it just has a special place in my heart. I agree that I wouldn’t make a special trip to go here, but if you happen to be in this area late at night, I’d definitely suggest checking it out.

My friend and I went there for dinner before getting our massages. It’s a tiny bar that is also a full service restaurant. I ordered a steak sandwich and my friend ordered a buffalo chicken sandwich. I said no cheese, i got cheddar. The sandwich was bland, with absolutely no flavor. My friend’s sandwich, on the other hand, had a little too much buffalo sauce and she could only handle half a sandwich. The service was quick and we didn’t feel rushed(I guess probably because it was half empty). Not worth the money though.

I got off the el today with some time to spare before a meeting and was starving(what else is new?). Fortunately, I saw Bar Louie right across the street and had just enough time to grab a salad or sandwich. Bar Louie has a special place in my heart for 2 reasons: 1) It reminds me of my college days since I used to frequent the Evanston location during my time at NU. Funny how this used to seem like a nice meal out while I was in college. 2) My boyfriend and I grabbed drinks for our first date at the Bar Louie in Old Town, which has since closed. I’m probably being a little nicer than I should be in the star department because of my past with Bar Louie. Today I ordered a shrimp sandwich, which I found to be bland. Now, I like bland food(the plainer the better) so this sandwich must have been REALLY bland. The fries on the other hand were awesome and although I planned on eating just a few I decided on a few bites of the sandwich and all the fries. For those of you who don’t have a personal connection with Louie I wouldn’t suggest going out of your way here(especially for the food), but it’s a nice bar to grab a drink at if you happen to walk by one of their many locations.
