Nice little gem in Hegewisch. We did some stone work at the bank across the street and this place was an excellent place to grab a snack or some coffee n donuts. They have a varied selection of ethnic foods and drunk. Better yet, the snacks and cookies from different cultures are pretty tasty. Staff was always welcoming and friendly, even when we’d walk in covered in mortar dust and sweating profusely. All in all, it’s a great little place to stop in n grab some goodies.

Our review is based on the shishkabobs AND the Serbian cevapcici — beef/lamb sausages that are phenomenal! There is a small section of imported Eastern European foods(kind of an odd selection) and also a Mexican section(changing demographics) … but the shishkabobs and cevapcici are worth a trip, particularly if you are a south sider.

Don’t let this convenience store’s less-than-attractive storefront deceive you. I gave Baltimore Foods aka«Drago’s» 5 stars solely based on their shiskabobs(Dragobobs) — I have yet to meet anyone who has tried them and said they are anything less than phenomenal. For a reasonable price/pound, you can stop in and pick up the shiskabob meat marinated in their one-of-a-kind recipe(okay, I’m going to admit I’m drooling a little bit right now just thinking about it). Oh and be ready to get your hands dirty — you’ll have to skewer them yourself before putting ‘em on the grill. Drago’s has been in Hegewisch as long as I can remember and then some — typical convenience store with a small deli and liquor aisle, although I moved out of Hegewisch before I was able to appreciate their booze inventory. One of the only places I can say I miss from H-Town :)
