I’ve been to this location three times now and each time was spoken to and treated as if I was bothering the staff. I watch others place their order and listen to a respectful exchange occur. I am a bit shocked and disheartened when I leave this place feeling like the staff’s message is «you and your kind(the black friends I bring with me) don’t belong round here… even though we live around here. Like everyone else I go to enjoy a hot dog and get on with my day. I guess this won’t matter to many folks who won’t have to face this kind of treatment, but I wish it did so this unacceptable treatment could be stopped anywhere. It just takes a little attention.

Blurgh. They have a variety of options on things you can put on your dog, but that’s about it for this place. Got the Tucson Dog, which has jalapenos and cheese with tortilla chips on top. It honestly tasted like that dog had been sitting there for a really, really long time. And the tortilla chips were so stale(the kind you leave in your kitchen and forget to close the bag, for a while). I also got really sick after eating it. I don’t wanna blame it all on the dog, because I am not 100% sure, but I will never go back. It’s a typical fast food quality, but with not so fast food prices.

Curly fries! They get 4 stars for their curly fries alone. The hot dogs taste like hot dogs, if you’re expecting anything else, don’t. They’re cooked well and you can choose from a pretty extensive list of toppings and types of meat(or veggie). Also, I’d never had a Chicago hot dog and was a little put off by the idea of putting veggies on one. Isn’t that just a sandwich?! I was hesitant, but it worked out. It’s fast food that you can sit and enjoy and the windows are partially open in nice weather. A great place for a quick bite.

The dogs here are good but not great. They have a wide selection that keeps things interesting. It’s close and the service is always friendly so I stop by twice a month or so. My wife tried the OMG burger and had good things to say about it. As for me, I’ll stick to the dogs. The fries are always fresh and tasty.

This was my second time having America’s Dog but first time at the Lincoln Park location. I came here with a Groupon and got the Tucson Dog(Jalapeño hot dog with chorizo, jalapenos & melted cheese topped with crispy tortilla chips) along with a small order of curly fries. The Tucson Dog was a great twist on your ordinary hotdog and I loved it. I do feel that the prices are a little high for hotdogs so I’ll be keeping my eyes open for the next Groupon deal because I did really enjoy the food!

If you are looking for a hot dog, this is the place to go as they have many different options when it comes to how to dress your dog. My personal fav would be the Milwaukee Dog which is a brat with kraut and mustard. They also have wheat buns for a healthier option. Beyond dogs, they offer curly fries, and all sorts of wraps, some chicken sausages, and such. It’s affordable and check to see if they have a Groupon Now before you go. We did and we saved a few bucks!

Mmmm… America’s Dog. Been here twice — once downtown and once in Lincoln Park. I like the LP location better because its bigger with large windows open so we got to sit with a nice breeze. We came with a groupon — 2 hot dog deal. We both had the Tucson dogs — jalapeño hot dogs with cheese and tortilla strips. The first time we went we both had the Richmond Dogs which is a dog topped with mac n cheese and bacon. Both were really good but I liked the Tucson because I love spicy food! Their curly fries are really good. Place is pricey but they always have a groupon now or a deal going on. Not huge portions but a dog and fries does the job.

Curly fries=5 Veggie dog=1 Their veggie dog is terrible, it tasted weird. I have had better veggies dogs out of box, never again will I get their veggie dog, it was disgusting and a waste of money.

Big deal… it’s a hot dog and you’re pouring chili or some other topping over it. No char, no unique dog, nothing really worth busting my ass to get there to have another. Just seemed like a really commercial version of a hotdog stand. Not such a great deal either.

The best part is the curly fries. The dogs are just okay. America’s Dog has various toppings and regional specialties which make normal hotdogs somewhat exciting. My major complaint is that I’ve felt nauseous after eating here… twice. I think that the food is just too heavy and greasy. Coming from me, that’s serious!

I had the Santa Fe Dog here and it was wonderful. Weiner with jalapeño on a great bun. Salsa on top… oh yeh! I surely will return. The curly fries were pretty good too. Nice lobby area, etc.

Yum, yum, yum, yum, yum. If you order the right treat. Although the location is super convenient to my apartment, it takes a bit more to lure me into a place which a giant plastic hot dog outside. The fiances rave reviews tempted me, but what really did me in was the huge garage-style open windows. And the sign for the $ 3.99 Greek wrap. Deal, right?(Side note: only if you have cash. Otherwise, the stupid ATM terminal charges you an extra $ 3.50. Seriously, what business these days only takes cash?! I guess a place that sells hot dogs.) The wrap was so yummy and healthy-feeling. Fresh tomatoes, feta cheese, grilled chicken(while I waited, none of this«already cooked» chicken in a container), hummus, and cucumbers. Seriously such a good wrap! My fiancé had the Ceasar salad wrap and has been asking ever since to go back. This is saying a l.o.t. The fiancé hates anything that isn’t mean and potatoes. We ventured back to the joint yesterday and decided to try cheeseburgers. Gross. I hate half of mine before the boy decided that yes, he really was still pretty hungry, would I mind if he had the rest of mine? It’s not that they were terrible– just more charcoal grilled than I prefer. I prefer my burgers to either be medium rare and dripping pink or the type of hamburgers you get in a McDonalds kid’s meal. The fries were awesome– I had normal, fiancé had spicy. Also, I just have to mention that every now and then, I get a craving for a corndog. I love corndogs. You don’t really see them too many places other than at a state fair, but have no worries– they have them here!

We came for lunch with a groupon, and were lucky to find parking right in the front of the restaurant. The place has a big map of the states with different kinds of hot dogs, and pictures of the owner at many places. We ordered SF dog — good, with everything on it. loved the chili and the celery salt. special dog of the day — with chili and cheese on top. curly fries — LOVEIT! sweet potato fries — also good. I thought the hot dog are normal dogs with different toppings. I do love the fact that the fries are curly fries!

I normally go here before I volunteer. I don’t suggest going here before a date. I normally get the chili dog, and cheesy curly fries. The curly fries are a tad bit salty but everything else is pretty good. I have of course had better, but I’m not complaining. I would come here at least once a month if it were possible to. so to review try the chili dog. Its pretty good. I believe they have Hi-C fruit punch on tap. sometimes When I am feeling a tad bit daring, I’ll put half fruit punch and half something else. This is my way of «letting my hair down». yipe! or Unilocalie!

They recently had a groupon deal…$ 3 for a hot dog, fries, and drink. I ordered the San Fran dog… yummy! It was a hot dog topped with mChili, mustard, ketchup, relish, onion, pickle, tomato, shredded cheddar cheese & celery salt. Mmmm, my mouth is watering as I’m typing. It was everything I can ask for. The ingredients seem fresh. The fries were decent. a little too overcooked. I will have to come back for more!

I came here late one night after the bars had closed. It’s best to come here right before the rush or there will be no place to sit and packed with drunk people. I’ve had better hot dogs at other places but if your drunk can you really tell? The best thing I had there was the deep fried twinkie. I’d eat that even if I wasn’t drunk.

Being a Chicagoan you’d think I’d know my hundreds… but leave it to me to park by the Lion Head Pub and think it’ll be a short walk. Well, it was a short walk, but it was really cold and I had to pee. As soon as I spot the place I forget all about how stupid I am and get excited. It’s bright and cheery inside. I like it. What I liked most was that all of the employees were really friendly the entire time. Sometimes I hate using Groupons because I detect a change in attitude, but not here! The boy loves hot dogs so I bought one. Ok, I bought five, but we were here to redeem one. I got the«Santa Fe» I believe. It was good. I remember thinking it could have been hotter, but I liked it. He ordered two simple«mustard and relish» dogs. He liked them. I got really excited when we were on our drunk cab ride home and passed this place super busy at night. I didn’t know they were open late… but apparently they are, and in that area, you can’t go wrong there for some late-night grub. I had to pay a little extra because the«Santa Fe» is a bigger dog, apparently, but it was only like 40 cents. Will I be back here after we use all of the groupons? Yes… if I can remember that hot dog places exist outside of Hot Doug’s and Jimmy’s.

I was in the hot dog kind of mood today… this happens every once in awhile(did you see my t-shirt folks?) and was happy to be driving in the neighborhood and come upon America’s Dog. Being on the corner of busy Lincoln Ave. near a host of bars and DePaul central, this place is in a prime location. Lots of windows, some fun décor(great road trip pictures make you feel like you are in fact get a taste of some hot dogs from all over the country) and friendly staff made this a nice place to stop for an afternoon bite. First off there are a bunch of delicious dog options, so many in fact I had a wee bit of trouble choosing… luckily the words«deep fried» jumped out at me though from the Baltimore dog description. Ooh yes it was every bit as good as its description too — a poppyseed bun(could have been toasted to add a nice contrast in flavors), deep fried dog, melted cheese and sauteed onions. Ooh that is EXACTLY what I was looking for today. My brother ordered the Santa Fe dog and though it was tasty(with bits of jalepenos imbedded in the dog) it needed something more. We were both very happy with the sweet potato fries though which were sweet and salty(you’d never guess how hard it is to find good sweet potato fries). Hot Dog happy? Oh yes. I’ll be back and can’t wait to try more of the deliciously creative options.

My recent experience at the Lincoln Park America’s Dog was a good news, bad news kind of thing. The bad news first(as that’s the kind of guy I am): I think I may have accidentally ordered(or they may have accidentally given me) a regular hot dog instead of a veggie dog. I have no biological proof of this — either from my stomach or from the dog. But all I know is I ordered two dogs — a Chicago style and an Atlanta style(that has nothing to do with the Olympics news, it was mere coincidence). And these two dogs were vastly different in presentation(the Atlanta style was cut in half) and taste. The good news: if I did accidentally eat a meat dog, it didn’t make me *that* ill. Which might be bad news for my carnivorous friends as it means there’s not much meat in the dog. Or it might be good news as there’s possibly not much meat in the dog. Due to not knowing what the guts of the Atlanta dog were made of(because guts are a primary ingredient of meat dogs — bad news), I’m only rating on the Chicago dog. It was pretty lacklustre. For almost $ 4.00(veggie dogs are 79 cents extra — bad news) a notfurter, I expected the dog to have more taste and more substance. The doggie was incredibly thin and overwhelmed by the toppings(including far too many sports peppers — bad news). Which, oddly, I didn’t taste either(you get the point news). I do give this place credit for having such a diverse lineup of encased meats(good news). I didn’t even know so many cities had their own styles of hot dogs(just news), I thought it was just us(I no longer feel as special living in Chicago — bad news). And they have a side menu(including a veggie burger) to boot. But their namesake product left me flat this time. I had their veggie dog at Lollapalooza and it was good(news) so maybe I just caught this location on an off night. I’ll give it the third star just because I’m being nice(good news) and because the curly fries are incredible. But if they present me with more bad news next time, I may have to reconsider.
