Their hours are never correct. I thought I made some friendship as I’ve been there more than enough weekends to count. They don’t follow hours listed and I’ve also had under cooked food. Disappointing considering I have loved their food since I moved to the area.

This place is horrible, the food sucks. Manager/owner is rude and unprofessional. Everything is extremely over priced! Do not eat here.

Love the burgers here! They are delicious! And the fries are awesome as well. Great place to have a chat with a friend and enjoy good food.

Take the advice of other reviewers and try Mello’s one block west on Dickens. Ideally, Flub A Dub Chubs on Broadway between Barry and Belmont. No one needs what this owner is «dishing out».

The purpose of this platform is for users to share their experiences with others whether good or bad. In my case my experience was bad. Since I placed my review I have received 2 messages from the owner which are borderline harassing. Instead of apologizing and being sincere he resorts to name calling and using vulgar language. His actions are a true testament of his character and would strongly think twice before stepping foot in this establishment.

After 27 years, this is still an institution for perfectly prepared Chicago-style dogs. All the ingredients are presented like a food stylist is on site. John truly cares about his customers and the quality of the food. Try the home-made big and brats too when you get a chance. Genius!

Dogs are now $ 2.99 without fries. It’s a good dog but would be a better value if it came with fries Chicago style. I guess that’s the price you pay for the location. And it took an unusually long time to get the dog. We’ve all seen the classic Chicago stands speed-assemble a hot dog. Not here. One dog at a time.

At least it’s close to Park West. And fast. And they do a great steamed poppy seed bun. Other than that, not so much. Almost $ 6 for a hot dog(no fries) and a 16oz coke(«NOFREEREFILLS!»). Could use a couple of hours with the pressure washer on stuff like the garbage cans to remove a little bit of the grease, and maybe some maintenance on the bar stools at the front window. Actually, a little elbow grease on everything in the place. Lots of options for fast food in the area, not sure this should be the first choice.

If you don’t understand sarcasm don’t bother coming here! Last night, not only did I have the BEST meal, but the conversation and hospitality was on point! The Chicago dog was perfect and the homemade sausage was SPICY and delicious! Definitely coming back — no doubt about it!

I walked in here last night beyond-hungry, tired, and confused from low blood sugar. They guy behind the counter told me that he makes the Italian sausage in-house so that’s what I got(bonus points for making my decision for me, since I clearly could not do it on my own.) I’m not sure what’s up with these negative reviews about the sausage — it was hands down the best Italian I’ve had outside of the giant Sicilian-American family get-togethers of my youth. Maybe they went on an off day. Maybe I went on a good day. In any event, I’m going back for sure.

Great local food spot serving up all the Chicago favorites. Twice I have been to sit by the open window on a nice day and eat italian beef and watch the world go by. Not touristy or cliché, just good solid food.

DONOTUNDERANYCIRCUMSTANCESGETTHECHICKENSANDWICH! When they first opened it used to be a delicious REAL whole chicken breast in an Italian marinade and now it’s two slivers of what barely resembles chicken, the texture is so off-putting, there’s no way it’s actually chicken… this is reallllly unfortunate, I live across the street and have been going here since they opened years ago… what happened?!

Went here for a quick bite. Not at all impressed. The service was fast, but the atmosphere seemed unfriendly. Several signs telling you what you can’t do and can’t get. The large drink isn’t large at all and you are not allowed refills. The relish looks radioactive. Go elsewhere.

Place was awful… manager was rude… wasted my money. Food tasted like it was frozen in the Antarctic for about 10 years. I could of made a better Italian sausage out of dog food. Take my word… go to Taco Bell before this hole in the wall.

I ordered a veggie dog. It was cold, I mean cold when I touched it. I took it back to the front and let the cook know, he replaced with an equally cold veggie dog that had been sitting in a pot of water. Very disappointed.

If I can give this place 0 stars that’s what I’d be going with right now. I was craving a hot dog so I figured I’d give this place another chance. My friend got a bacon dog. BOTH dogs were served COLD on cold buns. Not joking. The ‘hot’ dog was the same temperature as the pickle. To make matters worse my friend’s bacon was cold too! Really? That’s just plain negligent. What else are they neglecting behind the counters? DONOT eat here.

Stopped in yesterday after a long walk on the beach for an afternoon snack. Clark ran in to grab food for us and came out after about…15 minutes. How long can a hot dog take to make?! Sounded like the gentleman who was working was happy to have a customer come in(I believe we were the second customers of the day?), so I totally didn’t mind waiting after I knew that. Clark let me know that this was the guy that owns all Dog Joints in Chicagoland and they were exchanging their life stories. I love when people take the time to actually talk to you and get to know you, rather than just hurrying to give you mediocre fast food. Also, upon eating the hot dogs we ordered, I discovered that I actually love how they’re made here. Now, Chicago hot dogs are one of my top favorite foods in the world, so I think I have a pretty good idea of what I’m talking about here. But aside from Portillo’s, I’ve been hard pressed to find a place that has an above average hot dog. I found it yesterday at The Dog Joint! It’s gotta be something they do to the bun(maybe?) but it’s very tasty. The toppings were perfectly placed, they use REAL relish(NOT neon green relish… I think that’s the stupidest«tradition» that never really was a tradition), and it all just comes together perfectly. Can’t wait to snack here on the way to and from the beach all summer long :)

Chicago doesn’t have too many options for food at 3am. It’s even more limited depending on your location. After a night at Sedgwick’s, it was a choice between The Dog Joint or Subway. The Dog Joint was the clear option but I later regretted the decision. For $ 4, I got a chili dog that came with no onions or cheese since they were extra. I was using leftover dollar bills that weren’t put towards tips or a drink so I was being cheap. It tasted like a typically hot dog that you can get off the shelf at a grocery store topped with canned chili — it probably was. How disappointing… I expected more from a Chicago hot dog joint. Even though I had several drinks for the evening didn’t mean that my taste buds were gone. The Dog Joint just added to my trend of disappointing late night places in the city. I should have gotten the $ 5 foot long at Subway.

The Dog Joint is a no frills hot dog place near Lincoln Zoo. It’s the perfect place to grab a quick bite or take a break from the zoo/park. As a New Yorker, I was in the mood for some Chicago style hot dog. I had wanted to go somewhere else but this was in a super convenient location. We got the special with french fries and a drink. The Chicago style hot dog was good and satisfying but the fries were super salty. Service is quick and staff is friendly.
