Food was delicious. Service was great. And let not forget the drinks they were so good even their nonalcoholic ones were great. Live around corner from place will visit again. Bravo!

This was delicious! Lots of variety and rich flavors. I would definitely recommend this to anyone, and the service was great as well.

What a wonderful spot! We were greeted by the owner as soon as we walked in the door. Janna our waitress went through the menu and provided great suggestions. We started with the Tuna appetizer, along with a trio of guacamole and chips. Everything was so fresh tasting and delicious. We moved on to the Beer battered Tilapia, and shrimp and chorizo tacos. YUM! We also enjoyed an «Al Jabirrito» cocktail with dinner. Overall it was a great dining experience, and great service!

Food is really good and very nice presentation. Service is ok, we thought it was a little slow. I have been twice with kids and they definitely improved the timeliness the second time, bringing them food first. Good drinks too!

The cocktails are the stars of the great addition to Roscoe Village. The drinks are all fresh, not from a mix, not overly sweet, and full of unexpected flavor. It’s very difficult to find a good margarita in Chicago, and this place is as good as Frontera Grill on the drinks, maybe even better. The food is good, and so is the outdoor seating in nice weather.

Great food. Best sangria I’ve had in a long time. Love the décor! I will definitely go back.

I’m full after three tacos but always eat the fourth one because I can’t help myself, I am a gluttonous food monster. They have the nicest staff too, they have never called me a gluttonous food monster. Not even once. A+ five hundred stars

A nice addition to the Roscoe St restaurant row. We’ve sat outside on the patio both times — the tables are high and we can fit the stroller in the available space. Also great to people watch the foot traffic. The cocktails are delicious and refreshing and stiff(well maybe since I’ve lost all sense of tolerance after abstaining for 12 months…). The Sangrona is my favorite so far. The Ala Pina has a pineapple-chipotle ice cube that is really flavorful. For starters we tried the Al Trio which is three different types of guac. The guac is standard fare and the chips were pretty good. They are generous with the chips, you just have to ask for more since the actual dish doesn’t come with many. The taco dishes come with 4 pieces, perfect for sharing. The Al Chilango skirt steak with shoestring potatoes and the Al Carnitas slow-cooked pork belly were my two favorite taco dishes. My least favorite was the Al Salmonjillo. For the tapas, the Al Mejillon mussels dish was very flavorful, but the broth was on the salty side. The Ala Barbacoa slow roasted lamb is a build-your-own-taco but can get messy with the sauce. The Al Frito tilapia tapa was pretty good. Our server was the same guy both visits, who remembered us. Very friendly and helpful with menu suggestions. Looking forward to trying out brunch next, especially the caramel/chocolate chip Mexican pancakes!

DELICIOUS. Yes at first I was a bit disappointed they remodeled the previous Mexican restaurant. However after trying Altiro I am no longer upset. Yes it’s a tad pricey but it is worth it! I love their tacos, drinks, and superb customer service!

Found this place during oyster fest and thought it was pretty cool! We came here for appetizers so my review is solely on appetizers and not main dishes. So… Here goes… 1. Ala Pina drink is top notch! If your looking for a spicy but refreshing drink then this drink is for you! 2. Oysters were perfect! 3. Patata brava was delicious! Definitely a little different than most Spanish restaurants. It came with a sunny side up egg. The only thing missing from this dish was more sauce! 4. Lastly. The mussels! They were good! I wasn’t a big fan of the heavier sauce it came with but still good. I def recommend this restaurant! I’m sure their main dishes are delicious!

Came here with some friends. We ordered the guacamole sampler which came with a little basket of chips and the corn. Everyone thought the corn was great but no one cared for the sampler. We also had to ask for more chips. We then got four different types of tacos… beef, shrimp, pork, and fish… all good. Overall we had a nice dinner but otherwise forgettable. Nice patio and tables outside for the summer. Save on alcohol and go down the street for cheaper cocktails afterwards.

Altiro is pretty much the Mercadito of Roscoe Village but with less attractive diners. Food was good, but nothing memorable. Both drinks and food are a bit overpriced, and the entire menu ends in 99 cents. WHY. This isn’t TJMaxx, please just round up to the dollar. Drinks, while tasty, are a bit weak. Definitely worth a visit if you live in the hood, but not a destination by any means!

Outstanding specialty cocktails. So many options and all of them excellent. I’ve only tried a few of them so far, but my favorites thus far are the watermelon margarita and the traditional mojito. Excellent food options, but the cocktails are the standout highlight. We’ve been back several times already, and will continue to return. Contrary to some other reviews, the place is definitely kid friendly!

I’m from St. Charles, and have friends and family who rave about the Geneva location, which is absolutely exceptional! I was dying to try the Roscoe Village location, since I live in Lincoln Park, and can definitely say it lives up to the standard of it’s predecessor! My boyfriend and I went for brunch on Sunday, and not only was the food prepared and presenting beautifully, it was delicious! And the décor/atmosphere! We sat outside, and it was simply perfect. We had the chorizo and pork belly tortillas, and I had the strawberry margarita, and they were definitely the right way to start a lovely, lazy Sunday. We were a bit bummed there was no coffee, though. Gotta get some coffee in there guys! The service was outstanding and we will definitely be back! I was disappointed not to see more people enjoying this delicious jem. Come on people, latin fusion brunch is where it’s at!

The evening began be being told they were out of the majority of their wine list which is odd for a Saturday nite. The menu is fairly basic and nothing we tried was especially interesting and many times seemed to repeat the same sauces and flavors regardless of the dish. The restaurant is very loud and hard to have a conversation, they defiantly need to find some solutions for that. I will say our server was very good and accommodating and got that reason I almost went 4-star but the food was really just a 3 stars.

So this place is amazing. Truly a great restaurant in the village of roscoe with fabulous organic delicious fresh fruit drinks and NOFREEZERS. That’s right, all the food is that fresh. Oh yeah and no kids menus either! A place for adults to come and relax. Outstanding. The food was outstanding and the flavors were so fresh. Our favorite were the lamb tostadas(not sure of exact name but these were outstanding). I will definitely come back here– seriously the best place in Roscoe.

Everything we tried at this place was absolutely incredible. The guacamole trio appetizer tasted fresh and delicious. Watermelon guacamole? Hell yes. The strawberry margaritas looked delicious. That’s what we started with. They were delicious. Our server was very friendly and helpful. On our second round of drinks he recommended the Verde margarita, which may have been one of the best margaritas I’ve ever had in my life. If they weren’t $ 11 I would have had another one. Food portions were very large for the price. We tried the steak and chorizo tapas and pastor tacos. Both absolutely outstanding. The two food orders would have been enough for lunch. I really can’t say anything bad about this place. The prices of the food is very reasonable but expect to have a large bill if you also get drinks(though they are worth every penny). We will definitely be going back to try the rest of the menu. One of the best restaurants in roscoe village by far. Another review said this place is legit. Can confirm. This place is legit.

I will be back again and again. This place has been completely revamped by the new owners. The once casual lunch has turned into a place I would take dates, business meetings, friends for just about anything. It’s beautiful inside with a full wall of tables and a really nice little bar. We started with the guacamole trio and I’ll be honest… I could have eaten it entirely by myself it was so good. Then the tacos. Oh my gosh those tacos. The skirt steak and the pork were so freaking good. The pork was probably my favorite because it was a little sweet a little spicy and PACKED with flavor. I could it eat it every day. They have some amazing beers they import, but this place really knows it’s tequila. They have a high end variety with plenty I’d never even heard of. The original margarita is served in a clay pot and may as well be the chalice of the gods. Hands down the best margarita I’ve had in this city to date. You absolutely should try this place. It’s sensationally great. I can’t wait to go in again.

My husband and I live in Roscoe Village and were very exciting about this new spot. We had an ok experience overall. Please see pics for more info. We think it is overpriced, that is just the impression we left with. We had 5 tapas and my husband one beer I had no drinks. The total with tip was $ 71.00. We got home and had something else to eat because tapas are just tapas. You see the portions on the pictures. The ceviche was delicious and the tilapia tacos as well. The tortellini I don’t understand. They were swimming in a basil sauce with no basil taste but just hot. And the shrimps on top were dry and hard. The papas bravas dish we liked and thought it was very creative. Their chipotle sauce/dip is pretty much in all their dishes, so we ended up ordering the tilapia tacos with no sauce so we could actually taste something else and it was the right choice because the fish was perfect cooked and delicious. I don’t know if they offer dessert, we didn’t ask and it wasn’t offered, so no comments on that. I would give this new establishment a 3 but given it is new and was the first Friday night opened we will give it another chance later on, try the margaritas and come back to the review for update.

My wife and I had seen Altiro full during the Roscoe Wine Stroll and decided to try out Altiro for brunch. Our waitress, Jana, informed us the restaurant had just opened last Sunday and that the original location is in Geneva. While this restaurant has not yet established itself in the Roscoe brunch scene, it rightfully deserves a place. We started with Ala Papas Bravas which was a stack of crispy potatoes topped with a spicy sauce and a sunny side up egg; it was delicious. The brunch items we tried were Ala Hawaihuana sandwich, Al Mamey, and a stack of pancakes. Each dish was designed perfectly for sharing. The sandwiches(two for sharing) had grilled pineapple and seasoned fried shrimp with avocado and a chipotle sauce. The easiest way to describe Al Mamey would be an Eggs Benedict with mini tortillas instead of an english muffin. Honestly, it was one of the best brunch dishes I’ve had; Al Mamey had shredded skirt steak topped with chihuahua cheese, an egg, and a diced salsa fresca. Besides the food, we also tried the Ala Organica margarita. With a splash of OJ it was perfect for a brunch drink. We will be coming back soon for dinner. There is also outdoor seating on the sidewalk but it was too rainy for us on this visit. Good luck to the staff and owners, we highly recommend Altiro.
