I have been seeing Dr. Johnson and Dr. Lakin-Start for years now and after many failed attempts at finding the right doctors over the course of 10+ years I’m finally happy with my progress and the help I’ve gotten from both doctors.

Not terribly impressed. Getting an appointment at a mental health center can take some time, so instead of waiting for a full out evaluation I opted to get an earlier appointment with a counselor. Bouts of depression, null on the motivation factor. Same old story, but now it was getting in the way of normal activities. Upon arriving I was struck by the fact that the waiting room has no windows. It smelt like blood in there. It was dismal and disgusting and if you did not need mental help before being seated, you probably do now. I was paired up with a girl who seemed not much older than myself, though my gut instinct told me she specialized in children based on the way she spoke to me and the board games and disturbed children’s’ drawings littering her office… She was awful. She had the nerve to tell me I was just suffering from a lack of motivation and, basically, to suck it up and deal. Awful. I left feeling ashamed and weak. The real psychologist I met with weeks later was excellent. Though, shortly after our first meeting he left the office. Not sure about the details but no one could tell me if or when he was returning. This office is shady. They don’t return phone calls to schedule appointments and they treat patients poorly. They offer a free help line for those who need it but when a paying patient can’t even get a receptionist to return their call I wonder how well they deal with emergency cases. You’ll come out feeling a lot worse than you went in.
