If your main concern is STI screening, this is a good place… if you have any issues or general concerns about your health or even wanting to get feedback, you will not only get generic, textbook response but also doctor’s who let nurse practitioners and assistants(all of which are great really, nothing against them) do all the talking. without divulging specifics, I made an appointment after looking for a new PCP. Other than the aforementioned, I never got a call or my labs results and interpretation emailed to me after specifically asking them for it. I also provided a copy of my last labs for Doctor’s comparison of my levels. Doctor had me e-mail it to his personal e-mail…also never got an acknowledgement. I get it — no news is good news — but when concerned about issues that are you are prone to due to heritage, I expected more from a doctor who I am actually paying for. I had to call 3x, e-mail my doctor twice until I finally was able to get a copy and again, NEVER an interpretation either by e-mail or by telephone by said Doctor. It’s unacceptable whatsoever. And I know for a fact that they billed THOUSANDS to my medical insurance and wrote off what they didn’t pay for. Never ever again.

Had been a patient at northwestern but switched this year to this clinic for primary. You get more personal attention from the staff here. Easy to get appointments, I have liked the treatment philosophy thus far. The Northwestern Physician Group office is newer, but I’ll stay with this office even if I have another plan change.

I have been going to Dr. Berger for over three years for HIV/AIDS care. I am a long-term survivor who has been routinely treated at Northwestern. I was looking for a doctor who could provide a second opinion or thinking outside the guidelines that seem to limit care in a hospital staff environment. Dr. Daniel Berger was highly recommended by a friend. After two years, he is now my primary consulting physician. He noticed lipid issues beyond the normal topline reports and showed how treating these deeper cholesterol issues could benefit my cardiac health — an area of primary concern, and fear, for me. He has helped with many other issues and is expert at dealing with the deep psychological wounds behind the symptoms. I also, use him for lipoatrophy problems. His use of Sculptra has helped immensely and his office staff quickly fostered the patient assistance programs for these pricey drugs. As an aesthetic aside, it is great to be in an office that recognizes gay culture with interesting art and design. A 180 change from the clinical offices at Northwestern. I am more than content.

I followed the recommendation of my therapist a little over a year ago. He described criteria that accommodated my needs for an MD. It is reaffirming to find a practice catered to LGBT individuals. I chose Dr. Gonzales for my primary care physician. I have had two yearly physicals and have received thorough reviews of my blood work. On two occasions, he has been able to accommodate me with acute(urgent) appointments. I feel that he is engaging, professional, and has all the qualities becoming of a great doctor. As long as I live in Chicago, I intend to keep Dr Gonzales as ky pcp and Northstar as my first stop for health care. Their medical and office staff are nice and capable people, and the office has the good fortune of sharing a floor with a Walgreen’s pharmacy. I recommend this office to anyone seeking a decent practice north of downtown.

It is all about finding a doctor that fits your personality. The first doctor I saw there was good, but due to a scheduling conflict I saw a different doctor in the practice. He’s the best and we’ve built a strong rapport.

I’m sad to say that after 20 some years I’m leaving Northstar Medical Center. I feel my medical care has been excellent. I’m tired of dealing with billing/reception/accounting/office managers/nursing staff. Once again, I’m being billed after I’ve paid and the response I get — «our records indicate you owe ***». Of course they do – that is why I’m calling — they are not correct!!! I’m tired of going in for a simple injection and waiting for 45 minutes to get it – even though I made an appointment for a specific time. For the most part the nurses and the doctors at this facilty have their hearts in the right place — it is the administrative staff that is driving me away. Sad to leave — but I can’t take it anymore!

I’m a retired physician who understands and appreciates the difficult work of Dr. Berger and his staff. Most people have no comprehension of how many lives have been improved by the work of Dr. Berger. He dared to be a pioneer. He will have my lifelong gratitude.

BESTMICRODERMABRASIONDEALINTHECITY!!! They are always running specials — right now, 5 for $ 179 — that comes out to $ 35.80 per session and most places charge $ 75-$ 100. Not a spa experience, but you get a nice facial massage at the end, in a very soothing environment for medical setting. My skin always glows, and the staff is so friendly.

Northstar Medical Center is a great clinic that provides great care. Many of my friends and I have greatly benefited from the great care that Dr. Berger and his colleagues provide to their patients, and the medical research performed at his clinic is known for producing some of the best research data in the country. I look forward to being a patient at Northstar for many, many years to come. I was very happy to see Gay Chicago Magazine publish a story explaining how Dr. Daniel Berger has been cleared by the FDA of all wrong doing that is actually the fault of a single employee who committed medical research fraud. Criminals are very good at covering up their crimes, and I’m glad to see that the FDA recognized that the integrity of Northstar’s research and the dedication to its employees is not threatened by this lone employee’s illegal and secret actions.

Northstar medical has to be the most friendliest professional doctors offices I’ve been to in the Chicago area. To begin with, the receptionist, and doctors are very car ring and accommodating. Whether you have a simple cold, flu, or serious illness, the doctors really show concern. Each year, I suffer from cold/allergies in the summer and spring and end up visiting Northstar. I’ve never had a problem having my Rx refilled, and I’ve always received very good service. I think it would be fair to say that this facility serves a lot of people in the gay community. However; this is not just a «gay doctors office» Individuals and families are treated at North Star. Connected to Northstar is also a semi-medical spa where various skin and cosmetic treatments are performed. Once you get to the office, catch the elevator to the 5th floor. You will find cozy lobby, and comfortable seating. Another nice aspect to this medical facility is there is a Walgreen’s connected to it. You can get your prescriptions right on the spot. If you’re sick, this is a great place to see a doctor. The only problem you might find at this doctor’s office is parking. Meter spots are available on the street, and there is a parking lot which costs about ten bucks.
