The restaurant décor is definitely outdated the food was ok and the smell was a bit on the moldy side. I don’t think I would come back. I definitely was not impressed.

I went to Jenny’s a few weeks ago. My husband and I had a tasty dinner. I like that the booths have their own lighting switch. This resturant has such a nice, neighborhood vibe, but it what happened afterward that really blew me away. I inadvertently locked my keys in the car. The owner, Todd, actually drove my husband and I to my house to pick up my other set of keys. Now that’s customer service!!!

Second time I visited this place since one of my family members loves it but both visits I was still left disappointed. They cannot cook a medium rare steak at all. I ordered medium rare and received a NY strip well over medium. And I get mistakes happen but the waitress never returned to assist even thought she knew I was not happy with the way the steak looked. Great potatoes, salad and cheesecake but that’s it.

Not impressed. My coworkers were so excited that our company choose to host a meeting here and for the life of me I cannot understand why. The whole experience was mediocre at best. Salty soup and bland everything else. Was it inedible? No. Was it enjoyable? No. The staff was pleasant and attentive which was appreciated. Overall blah. It’s the kind of place you parents or even grandparents take you for«a nice dinner.» You go and it’s okay, but you’ll never go again if they don’t suggest it. For the price, there are plenty of better choices in the area.

Used to be a great place, but has become really disappointing. We made reservations and still had to wait for a long time. The bartenders messed up two drinks and service was poor overall. Out reservations were at 6PM on Saturday night and we were told they ran out of ribs and other menu items. What a joke. The men’s bathroom wasn’t clean and they had banquet chairs stored in there… gross to whoever uses their banquet hall. The food we ordered was ok I guess.

Read the Unilocal reviews for this place and it didn’t sound that great but still decided to check it out. I ordered the pork chops with the chicken tortilla soup and mashed potatoes. The food was not good. Chicken tortilla soup — I’m pretty sure it was minestrone soup and they just added tortilla chips on top. It had green beans, carrots and celery in it which are not your usual tortilla soup ingredients. Overall not good. Pork Chops — the quality of the meat was poor and it was slightly over cooked to where it tasted dry. There was no seasoning on the meat which gave it no flavor at all. They served it with a side of applesauce which I suspect was poured out of a can. Mashed potatoes — normally you can’t go wrong with mashed potatoes but somehow they did. Overall, the service was good. The server was friendly and attentive. The bread they served at the start was pretty decent. The crowd was mostly old people hanging out grabbing drinks. Honestly I probably would not return here.

I went here because I won $ 30.00 in gift certificates(3 x $ 10) at a charitable event. Jenny’s must have donated these to the organization. I decided to go have a Prime Rib dinner one night. My first visit ever. Things seemed okay until the Prime Rib arrived. The doneness(medium) was about right but the meat was poor quality. I think that 1⁄3 of the cut was fat and the rest was pretty tough and flavorless. When the bill came I handed the waitress my 3 gift certificates. She then informed me that I could only use one at a time and they couldn’t be used on Friday, Saturday, or Sunday. They couldn’t be used for the daily specials either. *These restrictions were in very small writing on the certificates. I used the one I was allowed to. I returned again and tried the Prime Rib again. It was only slightly better than before. My third visit I got smart and ordered one of their burgers. This was a pretty good burger. They can do burgers pretty well and the meat tasted way better than their Prime Rib. My gift certificates now gone, I won’t ever have to go there again. I think it’s pretty bad that when Jenny’s gives gift certificates to a charity that it puts so many restrictions as to make them little more than glorified coupons. I hope they can’t actually deduct these off their taxes. The place was usually busy, so somebody likes them. I’m not one of those people.

Safe to say this place will never get my family’s business ever again. Came in on a Thursday night and the restaurant was somewhat crowded, but not too bad. We were able to sit right away. Our waitress came out, took drink order, and left. She was gone for what seemed like forever before another waitress came out with our drinks. Annoying to wait forever, but it’s excusable. We ordered our food which included steak quesadillas as an appetizer, ribs, chicken piccata, and fettuccine alfredo with chicken. The waitress was rude to me because I didn’t want the cream of mushroom soup and I asked for a different side instead of the salad(under fettuccine alfredo on the menu it says«add chicken and a side — $ 3…but somehow this means ONLY soup or a salad?) The food took close to an hour to come out. The quesadillas came out maybe 10 minutes before the actual food and we were rushed to eat them so the waitress could clear the table for our meals. This was strike 1. I’m not here to be rushed or to be shamed for not wanting mushroom soup. The food was barely mediocre. The fettuccine alfredo had little to no taste to it — just very bland with overcooked pasta. The chicken piccata was a tiny piece of chicken, overloaded with sauce, and then a huuuuge amount of completely unflavored rice. Absolutely NOT worth $ 16. And then there’s the ribs. This place is called a steak house so you might infer that they make good steak and can probably made other meats pretty well too. Everyone at the table tried a rib and everyone agreed that these were some of the worst ribs we had ever ordered at a restaurant. There was plenty of meat on the ribs, but it was dry and covered with a BBQ sauce that had no taste. Honestly, the $ 8 quesadillas was the best food we had at this place… but how hard is it to put cheese in a tortilla and cook it? So overpriced food with zero taste gives this place strike 2. We never got refills on our drinks. Our waitress disappeared after bringing our meals. She never came to see how everything was, if we needed anything else, if we needed to go boxes. Nothing. Finally another waitress saw us just sitting at the table not eating our food and asked if we needed boxes. This waitress got boxes immediately and boxed everything up for us. After everything was boxed up, the hostess came around and asked if we needed refills… perhaps not realizing that refills would have been helpful during the meal, not after. So strike 3 was the horrendous service and the fact that we had another waitress have to step in and box up our food so we could get out of this place. As if that wasn’t enough, our original waitress overcharged us. She made such a big deal about ordering either soup or salad(despite the menu stating«a side», which included many more options) and clearly wasn’t happy that I didn’t want either. She ended up charging an extra $ 3 for the different side that I ordered even though it should have been included in the meal. Nail in the coffin. Never coming back and will tell all family and friends to avoid this place. Oh. And our bill was $ 85 for ribs(awful), chicken and rice(mediocre and small portion of chicken) and fettuccine alfredo with chicken, quesadillas and two fountain drinks. One person had water and no one ordered alcohol. Stupidly overpriced for such bland food.

Jenny’s remains on our good olé stand by list. I’m a fan of the steaks, burgers, mini burgers and the ribs. Ribs are some of the finest I’ve ever had. I don’t much care for the bruschetta or the Jenny’s crust on the steak. I love blue cheese but not the brand they use here. Portions are ample, great pricing, I like it here, it’s cozy. Seems to be an old stand by for many long time patrons. Some tend to sit near the hostess area, I’m not sure if this is the owner, the bouncer or patrons that couldn’t find a seat sitting in the bar. Confusing having someone sit there by the door that doesn’t greet and just sits and stares. They should remove those stools at the door. They have a frequent dinner program. Bring the family here, there is something for everyone, check for 2 with appetizers steaks drinks and extras around $ 60 – 70.

I have been going to Jenny’s for a decade now and have never had a bad meal. The bruschetta is fricken amazing«free too!!» My favorite meals have to be the Strip steak or the fried chicken. New décor is sharp but what I love most about the place is the service and different specials they run… back soon!

An utterly awful restaurant. Unless you’re a regular at the bar or one of the over-70 south side Irish that keep the place afloat, I don’t know why you would go here. I’ve been there a few times(birthday parties for over-70 south side Irish, mostly), and each time was memorable for all the wrong reasons. The service is bad. On two occasions our waitress would forget about us for long periods of time because she was chatting with people at the bar. The ambiance is alright, but very basic. I’d rate it slightly above a 24 hour coffee shop. We were there at 4PM and there were already loud people at the bar. At one point one of them loudly sang«Ave Obama»(what I assumed to be an original composition) for what seemed like forever. The worst, however, is the food. Poorly cooked, often cold, and BLAND. Bland bland bland. Their sandwiches are on par with a hospital cafeteria. I once ordered a beef sandwich with peppers. I got what appeared to be cooked lunch meat on a Kaiser roll with RAW slices of green pepper. Yes, raw. The roll was also completely dry. Their steaks are better, but nothing special and VERY expensive. Ask yourself– if you’re going to spend 35 dollars on a steak, why settle for mediocre?

I LOVETHISPLACE! The atmosphere is fantastic and I love the drink specials they have during Bears and Blackhawks games. The food is delicious. I’ve had numerous types of steaks from there and never left disappointed. The staff is very friendly and attentive as well. Another upside is the slot machines! I would recommend this place for the food, bar, and definitely during games.

So I ordered the 20oz ny strip and always cut down the center to see if it’s to my liking(med rare) I like it a deep red but cooked as soon as I began to cut I knew it was undercooked… flagged my waitress down and let her know and she was very nice and apologetic(mind you I haven’t taken a bite) they sent it back for a refire and it came back fine… still could of used another minute or 2 but either way I cut into it and it tasted like they cut it right off the cow and slapped it on the grill a tad tough And flavorless… unfortunately I will not be back(btw wife had prime rib and hers was bland as well) I understand you have to cater to old people but a little salt and pepper never hurt anyone

I was expecting awesomeness. what I got was a dirty menu, a server that apparently didn’t like me from a former life & anything less than awesomeness. We had reservations so we were sat right away. Opened the menu. Yuck! Crumbs & grease. Our server got our drinks, brought bread & took our order. Now, we obviously eat out a lot. .so I’ve seen my share of servers. Ours obviously had a chip on her shoulder. We would say thank you & she didn’t respond. She slid the plates on the table so carelessly that one of them hit my wine glass. We asked for more bread & we never received it. Our drinks were empty for quite some time before we had new ones. It was like we literally were bothering her. Usually we tip between 18&20% but she got 15 from us. it seriously was appalling. Enough about her. Let’s move onto the grub. My husband’s steak was nothing to write home about. It was meat on a plate. Seriously. On the other hand, I had Jenny’s steak & it was pretty delicious. It was cooked to my request & the topping was yummy. The kids ribs was literally a half slab & she loved it. The interior of the restaurant needs a good cleaning & a decorating update. Sorry Jenny’s, we most likely won’t be back.

It takes a lot for a restaurant to earn less than 3 stars from me, but Jenny’s Steak House managed to accomplish this rare feat. My night at Jenny’s started out nice enough. Our waiter was friendly, and we had a table right next to the warm fireplace. From there it was a spiraling downhill journey. After his initial introduction, it took our waiter 15 minutes to return and take our order. We then had a series of minor issues with things like not having water or bread at the table, but I don’t put too much weight in that kind of thing. I was just hoping that the delicious food would redeem the quality of the service. Unfortunately, Jenny’s didn’t deliver there either. I ordered the spinach stuffed chicken and it was pretty good, but the real story comes in the filet that my dad ordered. He was extremely disappointed with it because of the positive things he had heard about the steaks at Jenny’s Steak House. He told the waiter that the steak was tough, which is not what one expects when they order a filet mignon. The waiter apologized, and was very professional. Then he sent over the manager. After my dad explained the situation, the manager apologized in a manner that was more rude than I thought was possible of an apology. Once he decided he was finished he just turned and left. We had no idea if he was going to bring a new steak, comp the meal or leave us there to deal with it ourselves. Wsupposed to do after you find out that the manager is going to treat you like dirt? I will not be returning to Jenny’s and I would recommend that anyone that considers going here to drive down the street to Texas Roadhouse instead.

As another Unilocaler mentioned, it’s not entirely fair to review Jenny’s when you come here as part of a banquet/or event, but I’ll do my best to be fair without actually having had the opportunity to explore the menu. We came here for a funeral and the dearly departed was a major fan of the establishment, so in my book that’s worth a star in itself. The staff was top notch. They worked their tushies off keeping drinks refilled and serving the entrees. Everything was served family style, and tho the initial portions were not enough to make it fully around the table, the servers were more than happy to refill as needed. The soup and buttered bread were really the highlights of the meal. Simple chicken soup, served in a kettle(bucket?) on your table meant there was enough for a refill for those of us who really liked it. And I did. It tasted homemade and was very good. The bread was soft, buttery and fresh, with melted butter pre-applied. No half-frozen pats of butter to deal with here. The main course consisted of steamed veggies, that didn’t taste frozen or canned, but were slightly on the over-cooked side. I believe there were green beans, broccoli, onions and carrots. We had sliced roast beef, which was well-seasoned and came in au jus. Baked chicken, which was a little dry, tho seasoned well. Mostaccioli in kind of a watery sauce, with sausage and instant mashed potatoes with canned gravy. The main course was not that great. It appeared to have been kept cooking on low, or warming for way too long. I’m sure this isn’t the case when you order off the regular menu, but to accommodate large groups, I think they do what they have to do. Finally, we were served rainbow sherbet for dessert. Meh. It was fine. I wouldn’t be ashamed to host an event at Jenny’s. It’s not five star, elegant dining, but it’s economical.
