Jack and Pat’s is a family owner butcher shop that slaughters their own meats, does not use preservatives or dyes to color their meats; makes their own homemade Italian sausage; meat loaf; stuffed chicken breasts and more. They also carry name brands of hams and cheeses; plus Polish sausage. The butchers will also give instructions on best ways to cook their products. They also have seasonings, chips, bread and limited canned goods plus a few other items. If you’re looking for natural meat and poultry without harmful additives, Jack and Pat’s is the place to go.

I have been hoping to find a good butcher shop ever since my old one in Darien closed down. I think I may have found it in Jack & Pat’s. The only thing we have eaten from yesterday’s visit so far is the porterhouse burgers, and if they are any indication, everything else should be outstanding! We will definitely be back.

Very good lunchmeat! Store is limited but you will never leave empty handed! So many different specialty items!

We stopped in out of curiosity since it’s relatively near our house and we pass by every once in a while. We weren’t impressed. The meat selection wasn’t as expansive as you’d expected from a «meat market», and it didn’t appear to be of the highest quality.

You know how businesses like to start advertisements about how this ain’t your grandpappy’s kind of thing because it’s so modern and cool? Well Jack & Pat’s is absolutely your grandpappy’s meat market and it’s amazing precisely because of that. They don’t try to diversify into fad products, because they know where their strengths lie. Meat. Family business, small batches of things, good quality of meat butchered and tended to by people who know meat. Fresh sausage, nice cuts of steak, potato pancakes that really taste like Bubbie’s? Yes please.

I come here every two weeks to buy ground beef. Love a good burger or a meatloaf and you need freshly ground beef for both. Jack and Pat’s grinds their beef every day and you can sure tell the difference compared to the shrink-wrapped stuff at a major grocery store. The grocery stuff is always compacted and slippery. Pretty sure meat shouldn’t have goo on it. Their ground beef results in a ‘fluffier’ softer burger and a tender meatloaf. It’s surprisingly tastier. I also enjoy their back ribs. Competitively priced, lean slabs and they will even take the silver skin off for you. And that’s a pretty big deal if you’ve tried doing it yourself. Also, if you plan to freeze whatever you are buying, ask them to please wrap it with that in mind. They will do so. That’s what a specialty store is all about. PS — sometimes very busy, so grab a number. The dispenser is in a weird place — right across from the cashier’s counter. Not by the meats.

Old fashioned is right… in a good way. the staff here is always ready to help with a question on how to prepare something. The prices are fair and the quality is high. My go to place when having a BBQ or just a good family meal.

I love this place, been going there for years. Great irish sausage and black pudding. The hamburger and brats are awesome for tailgating. Prices are good and won’t break your bank account. 5 stars.

All around best butcher that’s on the s. Side of the city. Above and beyond. The best fresh Polish sausage in the City if not the Midwest. I’ve been in line with guys that’s wives made them drive 1+ hrs just to get sausage for Christmas and Easter. If you are into a more spicy sausage go formation triple, XXXHOTITALIAN. Amazing like my girlfriend. The anger and rage from the sausage seems to come for no where, but I love it, The rest of the cuts here are superb. Best steaks you can buy in the Chicagoland area… Don’t cut your self short, eat here, plan a meal or two, it’s worth your time.

Always a great selection of meats. The staff is extremely friendly and their prices are unbeatable for such fresh meat. Wish it was closer and I’d frequent more often, but it’s always a great treat when I come out this way. Brats are fantastic! Their City Chicken Legs are really good too. I would definitely recommend making a stop here! You won’t leave disappointed… And if you do, you might just be downright crazy…

Okay, someone please tell me how they get away with using their bare hands? They touch everything and then go in the meat case to get your meat without wearing gloves. Board of health, where are you?

This establishment has to be the BEST butcher chop around. Their quality of meats are spot on and the service is great. Need a custom cut? you got it. Try the sirloin burgers they are a must, the steaks and kabobs are the best. And their hot dogs can’t be beat.

I have never been treated so rudely in my life. I was berated by the butcher because I didn’t know the right procedure for ordering meat at the counter. The butcher was so rude that the other customers in line were visibly uncomfortable. I was so embarrassed & hurt that I chose to leave with nothing. I know small businesses have a right to choose their customers, just as much as I have a right to choose which businesses I patronize. But discriminating against a customer because she is unfamiliar with your ordering process is rude and mean and exclusive. I’ll take my money to A-J Meats in Evergreen Park.

I was just in here today! I got my favorite. stuffed chicken breasts … and my son’s favorite … beef birds. I also got some potato pancakes, porterhouse patties, Italian sausage, cube steak … American cheese and two large pickles! I travel from Orland Park here to get meat. Well worth the trip! We lived in Chicago Ridge and Worth years ago, but for the past 20 years, I travel to Chicago Ridge to get the things I like!

I came here on Super Bowl Sunday for pizza set ups. My usual places are closed on Sunday, but thank Jesus this place was open. I got 3 thin crust pizza crust, sauce and cheese all for $ 7.14. You cannot beat that price with a stick and this place is just steps from my bacon doughnut place, SWEET. Thanks for saving the day, Guys

For Christmas dinner, the BF and I were looking to cook up some expensive, high quality meat. That we did, my friends; that we did. It took some time to find what we wanted, but we did. We discovered that they have some cuts that they don’t keep up front(if you’re looking for something but don’t see it, ask.) I’m not completely convinced that the higher quality and better taste were in equal proportion to the higher prices for the same stuff at the grocery store, but on a special occasion, what the hell! Here’s the thing that might keep me away, though: The employees were very friendly to us, but with each other, a few of them were openly snarky. I get that for sure – I’ve worked a lot in retail and restaurant and I know how stressful it can be and how co-workers can exacerbate the problem, but keep that stuff to the back room! Also, what’s with the anti-Obamacare signage? In my opinion, shop owners can put up whatever signs they want(within reason), but isn’t it a bad idea to alienate half of your customers? I might have impulse-bought some mustard with Guinness or a cream soda if I hadn’t felt a bit unwanted in there with my liberal purse and my commie, pinko credit card.

I always wanted to come in here but I was kind of afraid for some reason. I thought I needed to be a better cook to walk in here. Crazy. I wish I had found this place sooner. The choices here actually make my cooking easier. They have all kinds of things made up and ready to go. I can just go home and throw it on the grill. The sirloin burgers are amazing. I’m also a huge fan of the chicken kabobs. I’ve been happy with the quality of the meat here. It really is good. The prices seem really cheap to me too. The only small issue I have is the staff. They aren’t bad but they could certainly be a little friendlier.

Stopped here twice in the last month for chili meat. Very happy with the product and experience both times. It’s an old school butcher with great service, a friendly vibe, and they have great hours. They are open until 7 all days except Sunday when they are open until 3. I will be back many times.
