This is a good place to buy a rug. Knowledgeable staff, friendly, not pushy. They have a huge selection and have been around in Bethesda for many years, not always at the same location. We first bought a beautiful hand cut thick white wool with pale blue flowers Chinese carpet from them about 18 years ago, just as we were moving to NJ. They nicely agreed to keep the rug until the movers arrived, saving us from having to make room for it when we were packing up the household. Managed to keep the rug looking like new, through many parties, two small children swinging grape juice boxes around, a fire place in the living room… only to move back to Bethesda and… buy a puppy. Enough said. After about 6 months rug was completely trashed. FYI – pet urine is apparently THE worst stain ever to try to get out of a rug… So we went back to Parvizian’s last week and bought another, not quite as beautiful, but more practical, and still very nice, Persian carpet. Chose it on a Saturday and it was delivered with no fuss the following Monday. The delivery guys moved my sofa for me and even cut the pad under the rug to fit exactly… AND during the purchase, the owners let me bargain with them on the price – seemed to expect and even encourage it; it was kind of odd. Anyway, it made us feel we got an excellent price, too, although I wouldn’t really know, since I know next to nothing about Persian rugs. I only know what’s beautiful and what’s ugly. Would highly recommend this place. Not cheap, but they do have a wide price and style range. And they were professional and pleasant to deal with all the way.
