Could be cleaner. Staff is clearly college students that can’t be bothered. It’s as if you’re inconveniencing them the second you walk in. They need retraining on working with a sense of urgency and put a damn smile on for god’s sake. Find a different job if you’re that miserable scooping ice cream.

I love you JP Licks. You open early so I can get my coffee, and close late so I can have ice cream at 11pm. You are amazing. Your coffee is ridiculous. I love it. My favorite girl is the one with the eyebrow ring, she always remembers me and I just love her. Coolidge corner is great but they need to open at 7 so I can have some coffee.

Value has become entirely absent from this equation. 2 scoop sundae served in a cheap plastic solo cup? $ 7.80 … And I’m dictated how it must be eaten… First I must eat the whipped cream, then, I can eat the HeathBar topping, then the hot fudge then the scoop of «cookies and cream»(because they don’t make enough profit to put the on brand Oreos) then I can have the black raspberry on the bottom… And they expect tips on top of that… Lmfao… Sorry Vince your ice cream joint has fallen off my fave lists.

I have to say that I absolutely LOVE their Ice cream, but it has become a ripoff. The small sundae used to be a decent size and it cost around $ 6. But now, the old small is the medium and the small now is only like one scoop, FORTHESAMEPRICE!!! How ridiculous is that? Stay away from these scams!

While waiting for a $ 6. frappé this Saturday afternoon, we had time enough in line to examine the sad array of toppings available for those ordering cups of ice cream. A tub of crushed waffle cone bits also contained the remains of paper wrappings. Among the Reese’s pieces was a stray, wet blueberry. The balance of the Reese’s pieces had a decidedly«faded» look to them — yuck. The tub of hot fudge that appeared«next» in order to be made use of by servers was congealed, too pale a brown, and was covered with plastic wrap on which the date had been written: five days earlier! The staff appears disengaged and indifferent. The JP and Legacy Place sites are much better in every respect.

We usually go to the JP Licks in Dedham, but we drive down VFW a lot so we’ve tried this location twice. Service was horrible both times and the place was filthy both times. People working were very rude. In fact, the guy had my bowl in his hand while mid-order, he turned his back on us and had a whole conversation with his co-worker about a song on the radio. I had to finally say, «Excuse me,» after a few minutes and then he never said sorry or anything, just turned back around and said, «Oh yeah, whatchu want again?» I asked for some hot fudge on my ice cream and when the guy opened the«hot» fudge, it was a dried, clumpy, mess. It looked like it had been sitting in a pan for a week. I told him never mind because it looked weird. After I said that, he said, «Oh, yeah,» and went to throw it out. But, if I hadn’t of spoken up, he was trying to scoop it out to give me. Wanted to sit at a table, but they were all gross. One guy was washing the windows. I wanted to ask why he was doing that and not cleaning tables, but we just left. And we won’t be back.

This branch of Licks has all the usuals, friendly youngsters working the counter, good coffee, and all that ice cream. Pretty weird logistics though. You have to walk to the end of the store to get in line, and apparently this confuses some people and they(inadvertently?) try to cut the line. On those occasions, I advertently will cut a bitch. That is the end of my list of negatives. They don’t have a large seating area like the flagship store, but I think that’s ok. Go outside with your ice cream. Is ice cream expensive? Maybe a little, but like anything else, you pay for quality. This is homemade ice cream, made by a local company who gives back to the community. If you get a cow card you get free stuff every once in a while too. And the pints are priced pretty reasonably. I’m into their peach and/or raspberry yogurt x for a sweet treat with a fewer calories and no fat. And the current monthly special pumpkin cheesecake ice cream makes a compelling case for eating ice cream even though it’s cold out.

In the time that it will take you to find a parking spot and wait in line(although it does move pretty fast) at Legacy Place in dedham do yourself a favor and go to this one. I try reeeeeeealy hard to get other flavors, but I always end up with a coffee based ice cream usually the coffee Oreo. I bet it has something to do with them using the coffee that they roast themselves. They have dairy free options that I swear are made with it due to being so creamy but I am assured it is not.

(+) Stars for: cleanliness! staff! flavor selections! HOURS! (-) Stars for: the price tag(…it’s ice cream… not the Golden Idol from«Raiders of the Lost Ark») Legacy Place is easy to get to, easy to park in(outdoor lots or free multi-level garage), and nice to walk around(ooooo you fancy, huh?). JP Licks fits right into that pretty-shiny-fancy category as one of the most over-priced parlors I’ve ever attended. That being said, let’s get to the pretty things: *clean décor(not the usual stick-floored MESS which you encounter in dairy bars and candy stores) *crazy friendly staff(thank goodness… they’re servin’ up the sweet stuff, afterall!) *ka-razy awesome flavor list(your favorites, plus out-of-the-box flavors like Ginger Chai, Carrot, Avocado, Fresh Cucumber, Cake Batter, or Strawberry Rhubarb). Some of them work, others don’t, but I like that they leave it up to the customers to decide. Specialty flavors rotate monthly and are updated on their website. *assortments of firmness: hard ice cream, sorbet, soft yogurt(some gluten-free options, so low/free of sugar/fat) *toppings! Sure they’ll cost you an extra 38−52c a PIECE… but it’s the sugary things that make the world go ’round. «Wet» or «Hard» toppings are sure to get you going. *cakes, pies, catering(…enough said) Giant, amazing, huge bonus points for OPEN ’til MIDNIGHT on Saturdays!!! I had a craving that would only be quenched by a sundae solution, but most shoppes close by 9pm. Not JP Licks! For this, I am thankful… but over $ 5 for a SMALL soft serve??? Negative points for taking the FUN out of FROZEN. Two small soft serve ice creams cost me $ 11. .. . WHAT?! No special do-dads or whistles. No crazy song or dance in silly-yet-appropriate cow costume. …just plain ‘olé DOOP via DAIRY. Taking advantage of one of America’s sweet spot? — not cool in my book. You can actually purchase pints of JP Licks and eat it how/where-ever you WANT for LESS than it cost to have a smaller amount scooped into the same container. Unless I’m in the area and in need of a brain freeze… I’d rather get my kicks from(somewhere other than) ‘Licks.

i like their premium ice cream, but recently rising costs($ 3.30 for a dixie cup size scoop of ice cream?!!) verges on insulting.

Best JP Licks! Their ice cream always tastes better than other locations. Small, but never too long of a line, and they move quickly. Yummy!

I love their coffee, but their ice cream is way overpriced. It’s totally not worth $ 5 for a scoop of it, it’s nothing special. I’m better off getting a pint of ben and jerry’s for the same price and B & J’s is better anyways.

I love rasberry ice cream. Don’t get me wrong, i like all ice cream. But you can get chocolate and vanilla anywhere. Here they not only have rasberry ice cream but they also have rasberries as a topping. MMMM delicious. The only downside is that they are a little on the expensive side.
