I have a friend who grew up in St Louis City who is known to dismiss certain things as being«County». Fake floral arrangements? COUNTY. Zebra-striped throw pillows? COUNTY. Buttercream-scented candles? COUNTYCOUNTYCOUNTY. Gordmans is basically County Outfitters. Everything in here, from the clothes to the kitchen equipment to the home accessories, screams COUNTY. After a while almost everything I looked at reminded me of something I’ve seen in the homes of various Real Housewives. Is there truly a demand for a floor lamp covered in mirrored mosaic tiles, giving it a disco ball feel? Yes, apparently there is. To their credit, the store is very clean and lacks the haphazard feel of other discount home goods stores. Think TJ Maxx, but with a more limited inventory and better organization. I wouldn’t buy much from here, but I did walk out with a very nice candle(that does NOT smell like a food item) and a pair of high-quality kitchen tongs. I’ll definitely pop in again just to browse.
