How on earth is this place still open? I tried it a few times and the women that work there are the rudest I have EVER seen. Every single time I have been in there SOMEONE has said something to them about this and they were ever more rude when talking back. I tried to ignore it and go back but the next time I went(even though they are VERYVERY overpriced), not only were they worse but I could NOT believe my eyes when I saw a girl eating lunch meat with her hands while her associate was making my salad. Imagine head tilted back, her taking a long piece of roast beef and slowly lowering it in her mouth. Absolutely filthy. In addition to this when I ordered a chef salad, this rude woman ordered me to get an old pre-made salad from the fridge and bring it to her so she could throw some lunch meat on it? Holy cow! And that salad costs more than one you could get FRESH in Manhattan. What!!! TOTHEOWNER: Do you care at all that these women who work for you are abusive to customers? Do you mind them eating your food with their fingers and while sitting around discussing topics about their boyfriends? Seriously? This all is not really a surprise though. When I went to file a report with the Department of Health I found that they didn’t fare so well on their last RE-inspection on September 30th, 2015(this comes directly from the Dept of Health): «VIOLATIONS Item 14B– Effective measures not used to control entrance(rodent-, insect-proof contruction). Harborage areas available for rodents, insects and other vermin; Item 15A– Floors, walls, ceilings, not smooth, properly constructed, in disrepair, dirty surfaces; Item 15B– Lighting and ventilation inadequate, fixtures not shielded, dirty ventilation hoods, ductwork, filters, exhaust fans;»

The woman behind the counter couldn’t have been more nasty or rude. Chicken noodle soup was old, had all sorts of different kinds of pasta(dumped in the leftovers in it?) and tasted a little strange. Hot corned beef was not hot. Serves meat with cheese and bacon, so not a traditional Jewish deli, and the place could use a good cleaning. Portions are large, though.

Yummy! I enjoyed the pastrami and corned beef sandwich(I think it was the New Yorker); a nice little find of a place and in a nice spot when traveling out of NYC for trip to western NY(our agenda was Senaca and Niagara); this was about two hours out of the city and was a great place to stop for a bite to eat. Friendly, fun little«out of the way» establishment but also convinient off an interstate route for westbound travelers.

Enjoyed a nice lunch with our family. Waitress was friendly and the food was just what we wanted. Portions were very generous and we found the price to be reasonable for the amount of food served.

Bagels are mediocre, no density or chewiness. Love the idea, the concept just wish bagels were better. I feel like the place needs a good scrub, new cutting boards and some paint. Side note, the plain cream cheese almost always tastes like lox as its ½″ away from the container, which isn’t something I enjoy. The CB hash is very good though, worth going just for that.

I went to high school on the Grand Concourse in the Bronx(Cardinal Hayes) and there were fantastic Jewish deli’s all around. So, being a nice Catholic boy from the Bronx, I was well schooled on what a pastrami with Russian dressing and cole slaw on rye should taste like. Goldbergs is like being in Sol’s on 149th St again. I am blessed to live in Chester and so many fine places to eat!

Good quality food here but it is wayyyy too pricey. Cream cheese and lox bagel is $ 10!!! I couldn’t believe walking in there and paying $ 20 for 2 bagels. That is absurd.

$ 13 for grilled cheese sandwich and bowl of soup. Staff very loud and personal. Find another spot to eat.

I will not eat there any longer. 1) I have asked for a sandwich/bagel with one or two thin slices of cheese and was told in a nasty tone I must pay for a full-sized cheese sandwich. I don’t like a lot of cheese, just wanted one or two thin slices with lettuce and tomato. I tried again months later and received the same response in a nasty tone. 2) Their bagels are not as good as other places that serve fresh bagels. 3) Other foods I tasted there, in the past, was not appetizing. 4) I also don’t understand why they claim they are a Jewish style deli if they serve bacon and other non-Kosher type of food on their menu.

Do NOT go here! Just walked out, will NEVER go back! I wanted a bagel & coffee, apparently that’s a problem for the obnoxious woman working there. I asked can I order and bagel from you? The response was«well if you’re next you’re next and if you give me a minute, jeeze.» Eye roll included. What this woman failed to realize is I was standing near counter and not one of the five people standing behind the counter acknowledged me, so I wasn’t quite sure if she knew I needed help– apparently customer service is an issue. I tried to give this place another try after having lunch there and was told the chicken salad was«pretty fresh– only 3 days old» I went w pastrami which was disgusting, but I thought hey how bad can a bagel be? Well, I didn’t even get the bagel after being treated in that manner. My tip– go to Bagel Boys in Monroe!!!

Worst bagels. How can one mess up a sesame bagel with butter? Goldbergs can. They don’t even use salted butter. I felt like I was just eat bread with grease. I took 2 bites and threw it in the trash. Overall the bagels are just horrible. Don’t go here. Locally I think the best place for bagels is central deli in Florida.

The dining room needs a complete makeover. Ceiling is dirty, at least one of the light covers is missing and the place has an ‘old’ smell. Not to mention the little fruit flies that join you for lunch. They claim that they are very busy for breakfast but when we were there about 1:30, the place was empty, just us and the flies. The other side of the business, the deli side where they sell the bagels and take out from could use some sprucing up as well but it’s not as bad as the dining room. It’s a shame because I like the bagels and the pastrami and corned beef are always good and served on fresh rye bread. I’ve got the broccoli and spinach knishes to go and they were also very good. I asked for coffee but was told that it wasn’t fresh. It was not offered to make fresh coffee for this customer.

Service was good. Food came out quick and the woman who took our order was very nice. However, we really didn’t like the food. Hard-style bagels and the dough just wasn’t appetizing. Eggs were overcooked. The good portion was just bad.

Not even worth 1 star. It’s places like this, that I turn to Unilocal for, and why Unilocal exists! Save your money, go anywhere but to this disgusting place!

I have eaten at all of the local bagel shops looking for a quality breakfast sandwich and frankly, this is the only one that has never put egg shells in my sandwich. For that reason, I’m okay with the fact that they are more expensive. Only one of the staff seems a little cold, but she’s never been rude. They are all very responsive to my questions and requests though.

This place comes up under a search for«kosher». This place is absolutely NOT kosher.

Goldberg’s claims to be a traditional Jewish deli, one that’s located in the heart of Chester, NY. Placed in an unassuming strip mall of 17M, one can be skeptical about its quality, but as with most eating establishments, never judge a book by its cover. I ordered a tuna sandwich on rye, trying my hardest not to stray too far from traditional Jewish eats. We sat in the«dining room», and waited for the food to be brought out. I was pleasantly surprised when the plate arrived at the table, the sandwich was stuffed with tuna and included what tasted like a house-made pickle, and macaroni salad. The macaroni salad, though, was almost inedible, as it was doused in mayonnaise. Normally, I wouldn’t gripe about this, but this was just mayo overload. Goldbergs was, overall, a good lunch experience. The quality of the food(and my co-workers) was great, and the portions were hefty. My biggest complaint is the price. I paid around $ 8 for a tuna sandwich, which is a little too pricey in my book. Even if it comes with a «complimentary» pickle and macaroni salad.

High price; average food; poor service. I’ve been frequenting this place for a couple years, since they opened. The place seems to get semi-fresh bagels, and I’ve never tried anything but breakfast. However, I have been disappointed more times than not. Had a recent incident where the entire staff, starting with the owner, melted down and started yelling at me and insisting they were at no fault. Looks like I will be driving the extra 3 minutes to Bagel Boys in Monroe, again. Oh by the way, I am pretty sure there is absolutely nothing kosher about this place.
