Another small business in the Chester Village. They hold up well. I have only been here once. I ordered a Lox Bagel. It was tasty, had capers and a bit of spice that the chef told me he added specifically to this bagel. I like spicy food and liked the Lox Bagel. Prices are average. I can’t say I’m too impressed, as I’m used to this quality food with a more inspiring atmosphere(aka Lift/Harrison St. Café). However, the cooks at D’Lish are FANTASTIC, and I fully expect them to keep expanding their skills and menu. A city-style café is hard to do in the suburbs, but they can pull it off.

I love this place… very clean… the people who work there are awesome! The bacon cheddar scones were to die for and the Cannoli were very good. My true love though are cupcakes– real cupcakes– not the grocery store variety either. Here I am always disappointed with their cupcakes and I have yet to find a cupcake there that I would recommend… the cake part is fine but it’s the frosting that ruins it! The chocolate is fine… red velvet and carrot cake aren’t my favorite but they are ok. the basil buttercream and the vanilla buttercream were weird and I actually had to scrap the frosting off just to eat the cake part. I threw 2 cupcakes away because of the tasteless frosting — the last time I went in I asked about the frosting and the guy behind the counter told me they use a ‘European style’ buttercream– Please please please make some regular frosting buttercream!

It was surprising to learn of this establishment when one day searching Unilocal for something or another. So based on the reviews from my friends here, had to visit. The bakery case that faces you upon entry, with the right side dedicated to cookies and the left with samplings of their other pastries. I settled in on a vanilla(for son), chocolate ganache(wife), and the cannoli for myself. My wife really liked her cupcake, but thought some filling with something other than chocolate would have improved it further. The cannoli was filled to order in back. The filling was tasty, but something short of mama mia Italian exceptional. As for service, the young lady at the counter was very pleasant and the pricing was was good at just over 7 dollars for the lot. We’ll definitely return here to support a local enterprise versus the corporate tyrants!

I’m all about customer service, and they delivered! The croissant breakfast sandwich was really fresh and tasty. There were limited desserts in the display case for us to try so we settled for an apple danish and a cupcake, although they were nothing special I still love this place…

Up until moving to Chesterfield I have always lived near a backery. Well my prayers were answered a couple of months ago when this establishment was opened. The coffee is average, but the backery iteams where to die for. The cupcakes I thought were pretty moist. My mother has an obession with a good piece of key lime pie and she said this piece blew her out of the water.

Working in Chester on long shifts, I love to find quick eating places that offer coffee to help with that mid-afternoon jolt. Also with it being in walking distance, it’s a definite bonus. I think by now the employees aren’t surprised to see me walk through the door. I’m a brought back on a weekly basis by their Grilled Veggie Sandwich. It’s a panini with grilled mushrooms, peppers, onions, and AVOCADO! I’m normally not a Swiss Cheese fan, but it’s melted on and accompanied with a tasty pesto. This sandwich is delicious, and my stomach is growling just at the thought of it. Normally I get a side of chips and dump half of the bag into the sandwich(I’m one of those texture lovers), but when they are serving the potato salad, I’m all over it. Super fresh with dill and you can actually taste the potatoes rather than just mayonnaise and spices. Seriously, the growls are happening. Downside unfortunately is that they are closed on Mondays. A sad thought for me when I want a small pick-me-up on a Monday. Also, not a fan of the«Magic Tea” — a mixture of Earl Grey and other tea extras. As a tea drinker it was simplt too much and I ended up dumping it out. But over all, they’re a cute bakery with great vegetarian options, and the cookies aren’t bad either ;) Definitely recommended

I discovered this delightful little shop on Unilocal and was anxious to try it. So on Friday I stopped by to get some cupcakes. It was extremely hard to just get2 red velvet cupcakes, the display case was filled with delectable treats and I knew I would be back to try other things. So on Sat am I returned for breakfast– I had a cinnamon raisin bagel with cream cheese, it was absolutely the best bagel I have ever eaten! And I am so in love with their coffee! This little shop has definitely become a new favorite and I plan to return many times!

We have been back two more times and we tryout some breakfast, and some lunch fair. For breakfast we had a croissant with bacon and egg mine I had cheese also they were yummy. Then the other day we stoped by for lunch but my wife wanted breakfast. Well that is no problem here we could get both so now the wife is happy. She is liking this little bakery as it has grown on her. So she got the croissant breakfast sandwich and I got the BLT wrap which was the specal. While we waited for our food we looked at all the pastry on display. So we get our food it was wonderful that BLT rocked I will say the best I’ve had. My wifes croissant was fresh the bacon cooked well the eggs fluffy, and she said delightful breakfast. Now I remembering we have also been another time(dang to early to be having senior moments). Again we stopped for lunch my wife got her usual the croissant breakfast sandwich and me, I’m tring some different. I got the southern ruben sandwich with a side of potato salad. The ruben marbled rye bread corned beef now check this out cole slaw. That combination of flavors was awesome to the taste buds, I’ve never had one like this before. Now that potato salad well on my first bite there was a flavor that I’ve never tasted before in a potato salad. As I kept eating it I realized it had olives in which gave it a wonderful flavor. As we were going home I told my wife I had the southern ruben sandwich. And I had a European potato salad that is my thoughts after that delicious meal. We also got some treats each time I got a canoli one time. Another I got a browne with a cream cheese frosting and my wife got some too. But I can’t remember hers because she ate them not me. But I going back real soon, I think I’m an addict though.

These were by far the most disgusting cupcakes I have ever had in my life. Even my not-so-picky-with-desserts daughter said it was«gross» and she threw it away! They had the consistency of cornbread, dry and crumbly. The frosting was disgusting as well. I have no idea how or why they sell them, boxed cake mix and canned frosting would be 100x better than these!

I found D’Lish on Unilocal(where else?), took a look at their website, and decided I had to try it! With no reviews, I went purely on gut instinct– well that, and the adorable look of the website. Located in Chester Village, it’s definitely off my beaten path, so I woke up this morning determined to make it my destination for breakfast and a sweet treat. I wasn’t quite sure what to expect, but I was hoping for a place to perch with my laptop, eat some delicious grub, and grab a cupcake to go. I was rewarded for my curiosity with all of these things. When I first walked in, I was delighted to discover that the café uses Lamplighter coffee! If you’ve read my Lamplighter review, then you know that I am a huge fan. I ordered a large nonfat sugar-free vanilla latte(yep, I always add flavor), and it was served to me in a chubby green ceramic mug. LOVE. I noshed on a bagel with lox and cream cheese, and although I’m not usually a plain bagel fan(this was the only option), this one was super fluffy, fresh, and tasty! The smoked salmon was also delicious, with some sort of pepper seasoning along the edges. Basically, I was completely pleased with my open-faced bagel sandwich– it totally hit the spot and calmed my crying stomach. In fact, my tummy is beginning to growl again as I pen this review… The café certainly reflects the upbeat and modern feel of the website. With tons of windows, the space is bright and filled with tables and wooden chairs. Tiny vases with faux flowers accent each table and colorful mosaic-style light fixtures hang from the ceiling. These little touches add character to the somewhat stark space. A few outdoor tables line the front of the café– a great option for those looking to soak up the sun. A glass case attached to the counter showcases pastries, cupcakes, and other delectable treats. I picked up a red velvet to take home with me– and impressed myself with my willpower to wait until the afternoon to try it! When I did dig in, I found a moist cake with sweet, smooth cream cheese frosting. A definite win! D’Lish also creates custom cakes, which are no doubt incredible judging from the delightful cupcake. I gotta give mad props to the service– friendly, engaging, and informed! Oh, and free wi-fi? They got that, too– just ask for the password. If you’re in Chester, be sure to check them out.
