So conflicted. We are BBQ snobs, so I can say straight away that the minced BBQ, as they call it, truly is great. We went on a Saturday for the buffet dinner. Read the description on their website because the buffet options change daily, and on Saturdays you don’t know what you will find, but they will have 4 of their signature entrees and you may find yourself dissaponted. So if you want the buffet with specific items, look at the website and go on the night corresponding to what you want to eat. We were hoping to find fried chicken, but it was not to be. The choices were minced BBQ, fried shrimp, brioled chicken(I think, nothing is labeled), and meatloaf. The only one of the four entrees I tried was the BBQ obviously. Table mates liked the shrimp and greatly disliked the meatloaf. There is a tiny salad selection, and limited sides selection, and one dessert, pudding. Most everything seemed to come from a can or instant mix, except the mac and cheese which was probably home made but not very impressive. What was impressive was the friendly service, not needing to ask for hush puppies and rolls(they were offered up right away), and constant refills of drinks. If we return on a weekend day we will order off the menu and avoid the buffet, or go on a night when we know exactly what to expect. Prices are extremely family friendly.

Let me start off by saying this place is a gem. The service is great and the food is even better. I had the Memphis style ribs which were amazing the sauce is a perfect pairing. For sides I had macaroni and cheese that is home made and string beans both were excellent. On another note the hushpuppies are out of this world. If you are looking for a good BBQ joint this is the spot.

The ribs are awesome. Well seasoned and the sauce is great. The pulled chicken is good. The collard greens are awful as is the apple cobbler. The sweet potatoes fries were meh. 2 ½ stars.

I was really craving bbq so I stopped by Brocks & got the buffet. The waitstaff was very nice but the bbq was fairly cold & really bland. There was only 3 sauces, 1 of which was Texas Pete so no real selection of anything to add flavor to it. The rest of the buffet was obviously standard foodservice fare. I want my $ 10.00 back :(

One of my favorites !! All the employees are awesome and the food, of course, is great. Lots of choices, but my favorite is the BBQ. Try it, you won’t regret it.

I was not served. Stood at the counter 20 mins and was ignored by the blonde lady that works the front counter. Left without receiving my order. If your black/brown don’t buy or frequent this resturant.

Soooo disappointed just ate here today and i should have known better because we were the only two going to the buffet during our visit now my stomach hurts. Shrimp batter was half cooked on the shrimp, the waitress was nice to bring me some more from the back but then the chopped bbq chicken was cold. The only thing i enjoyed was the sweet tea which i drink plenty of in order to get full. Two more customers came in while we were leaving and ordered the buffet– I wanted to warn them to run dont walk away. I am a very fair person and this buffet sucks it really does — the mac and cheese tasted very old and reheated. I wanted to ask for my money back but i tried my darnedest to find something from the buffet that was worth paying for this is the reason for the 2 stars. my nephew had a bacon cheeseburger from the menu and he said it was good but my dinner was awful. If it wasnt for the hood sweet tea i would have given them 1 star instead of two. I usually take pictures of food thats good and enjoyable so no pics for this review

Tried this place for the first time tonight-we like it. Had the buffet, the pulled pork was delicious-they can bring you a sweet sauce if you like-the tables have vinegar based sauce. I enjoyed all the«fixins», including the coleslaw, potato salad, and squash. We finished with the cobbler-the fruit part is great, the pastry is not a fluffy pie crust, but a soggy puff pastry maybe? Will definitely be returning:) Its not fancy food, but a very pleasant experience overall.

Based on reviews we tried this place. All I can say is don’t bother. We know good barbecue and this is not it. Restaurant carpet could use good cleaning. Brisket and ribs was gross.

we stopped by for lunch and what a surprise! We(party of 6) all had the buffet. Very good assortment of meats and veggies. The BBQ and country fried steak was outstanding! Steak was fork tender, and the BBQ was smoky. Only downside for me was the sauce They have a mustard based sauce, so if that works for you, you will love it. The veggies tasted like they were cooked all day! The collards were my personal favorite, being a good old Georgia boy. Hushpuppies, cornbread and rolls round out an EXCELLENT meal! Will definitely return.

What a disappointment!!! All the food was luke warm except the baked beans. The potato salad was room temperature rather than being chilled as one would expect. We requested a new, hot batch of hush puppies and they still came out less than warm. We intentionally did not order the buffet to ensure we hit fresh food and it tastes much less than fresh. While the wait staff was very friendly, I would not recommend this place!!!

Excellent service and a great buffet for the price. Came here for lunch and it was $ 8 for the buffet. Waitress refilled my lemonade with a full glass without ice so i could pour it into my current glass(so ended up with plenty of it). Buffet has 6 meat choices, 12 vegetable options, two soups, plus others. Bbq is good nothing extraordinary but for a small bbq place outside the city this is definitely a good choice for lunch or dinner. Waitress kept table cleared of and glasses filled. Poor beer selection but you come here for the food anyways so who cares. Don’t buy into the bad reviews of this place. Those people either always give ratings on the extremes of the spectrum anyways so screw them. This is definitely not a 1 star place. Good food, good service, good atmosphere.

My allergy babies and celiac self enjoy this restaurant! Danny goes to the moon and back for us and we thoroughly appreciate him! We love having another place to eat! A very simple, friendly place to enjoy some good barbecue!

The food is great and the service was wonderful. The meat was not cooked until crunchy which is the way I like it. To me, other than the BBQ has two other major tests. First is the coleslaw. It was creamy with the right amount of vinegar and sugar. They get four and a half stars for it. The next is baked beans. They were light with the right amount of sweet and tangy. Side items such as hush puppies were spot on. Most of all the prices were totally in line.

About a week ago, I participated in an event that was catered by Brock’s BBQ. While at this event, the food that participants could choose from was Pork BBQ, Grilled Chicken, Baked Beans, Cole Slaw, Potato Salad, Chocolate Chips Cookies, Brownies and Sweet Tea or Lemonade to drink. So this review is essentially a review on the catering service. Want to find out how it went? Read below. The Good: Taste of Pork BBQ and Baked Beans– I am very picky when it comes to pork bbq and this BBQ hits the spot. I did not need additional sauces to enjoy my sandwich the way that I would at other restaurants. The Baked Beans also had a good flavor that made me feel great to be an American. Service– There were roughly 30 people at the event but only two servers at the buffet line. The buffet line moved pretty quickly due to the diligent work of the servers and the servers also packed up the leftover food into individual containers for people to take with them. That is a huge plus because there are some caterers who will keep the food that people do not eat. The Bad: Taste of Grilled Chicken and Potato Salad– The chicken was dry and flavorless. After taking a single bite of the chicken, I had to drink something to swallow the food. The potato salad had a lack of taste as well. The skins were also left on some of the potatoes which was also a turn off to me. Overall: I liked the service and loved the BBQ and Baked Beans, but the Chicken and Potato Salad were a huge miss for me. I could see myself going to the restaurant and knowing what to order while staying away from other items. THREESTARS.

Ate lunch here and surprisingly didn’t get any BBQ — maybe that’s where we went wrong. Chicken tenders were very greasy and it looked like they were cooked twice. Egads! We had chicken salad sandwiches and baked beans that both tasted like they were straight out of a can. Very disappointed.

Wow! What a disappointment. Based on the reviews here, we ordered carry-out. The pictures looked great and the reviews were good. This was not our experience. Had we dined in, the food would have been returned. I ordered the seafood platter. For the price, the portion was very small. The fish was small and tough, the crab cake was over cooked. I felt as thought this was not a fresh catch. The entire meal seemed as though it came from the frozen section at the grocery store. The baked beans tasted canned and the Mac n cheese lacked seasons or flavor. My friend had the BBQ combo and complained that the meal was bad. The grill marks looked like an add on and there was no grill or smoker smell to the meal. That’s not BBQ we are used to. I added the peach cobbler and that was the worse part. It was thin as a piece of paper and the peaches had no flavor. I think they forgot to bake it. Don’t waste your time.

This BARBEE Q was SOOOOGOOD! Mind you, I have sampled my share of the Q and this ranks up there at the top! Now remember this VA Girl is referring to what most call«pulled pork» when she says BBQ. Anyway, we used Brock’s catering menu for our annual B-day Bash; the first thing that impressed me was the customer service – felt very welcome just walking in. We got the BBQ to feed 50, and it included beams, slaw and potato salad, buns, plates and utensils! Plus 3 bottles of sauce. The BBQ was so flavorful even without the sauce– it is a vinegar based flavor and works deliciously well with the slaw and their special sauce! Mmm Mmm Good! If you love a vinegar base but with a lot more flavors check this place out! Will have to go back and try the ribs. Stay Tuned!

Family-owned restaurants always have a special place in my heart– every time you walk in, you feel right at home. Brock’s Bar-B-Que is no different than stopping in for dinner at your neighbor’s house. As soon as you walk in, you feel welcomed and treated so well. I stopped in for dinner and was happy I was able to be seated right away. The staff was super friendly and after telling them it was my first time visiting, they were more than happy to share their story about the place as well as specials of the day. The food was wonderful — I actually had their roasted chicken with mac n cheese and green beans(and of course with a large glass of sweet tea). True southern meal with every bit of a taste like my grandma use to make. My friends ordered the pulled pork and was very happy with their meals as well — their bbq sauce is one from the god’s of food and flavor. Stop on in for southern comfort food with great prices and welcoming staff. What a great place to go for a small-town feel right in Chester!

I have been going to Brock’s BBQ since I was a kid(so we’re talking over 20 years of eating here) and this is one of my favorite spots for my ribs and pulled pork BBQ needs. The establishment is very country and gives you that down south goin’ to grandma feeling. The employees are all very nice and the wait staff does a pretty good job being attentive to their customers. The home made BBQ sauce is now a crave for me(and luckily you can buy it in bottles too) however it does contain peanuts so people with allergies be aware. The ribs fall right off the bone and the pulled pork… you can’t beat. Also love the corn fritters and hush puppies, which I’m usually not a fan of hush puppies. I don’t know much about the other foods, I normally stick to my favorites but my girlfriend says that they have some really good burgers too. The down side? Well the BBQ chicken always seems to be dry… other than that I really can’t complain. You get healthy portions for a good price, good atmosphere and a nice buffet to boot.
