This place is such a hidden gem!!! They have a great craft beer selection and the food was SPECTACULAR! We got «The Rachel» sandwich and a turkey panini; both were out of this world. We got a blueberry shandy, Sip of Sunshine, and Pequot Rye for beers. The guy working was probably one of the friendliest people ever too. We will definitely be back!!!

A great place to unwind and relax! Love this place to it’s core. They serve awesome food, and always have good music playing. I’ve been coming here for years and the spirit of this place is fun, fun, fun! Highly recommend the vegan veggie burger and garlic bread with Gorgonzola dipping sauce. This place is near and dear to my heart! I’ve moved away and come back and one things for sure, this place rocks!!!

Fuck u assholes. Worst help ever. I ordered through silverspoon delivery and they never prepared the order. I called cj sparrows for an explanation and the jerk off on the phone said he was too busy to talk. Dude, your place is a shit hole and tiny. I’m all set with this dump. Food sucks too.

Came here with the BF twice recently due the «Beer Menu» app stating they had some of the best beers on tap NEBCO (Fuzzy Baby Ducks and Lawson’s Sip of Sunshine). The first time I had the honey garlic burger and it was delicious, but it came out medium well instead of medium rare (not a huge deal). My bf had the brie appetizer and he was not impressed due to them microwaving the brie instead of grilling it. I had another burger the second time and it was overcooked again. I do not ever send food back, so I ate it. Still a good quality beef and the hand cut fries kick frozen fries from other places butt! I will definitely be back and order my burger «rare» next time, so maybe it will come out medium rare.

Food is great. Best burgers. The apps and the rachel rap are delish downed with a cold lager.

Looks are deceiving. It definitley looks and feels like a local dive bar, but the food is excellent. The burger I had was one of the best in a long time. The maple chipotle mayo was awesome. My wife’s turkey panini was delicious too. The garlic toast and gorganzola cheese dip was phenomenal. Charlie the bartender… and perhaps owner, was very friendly and attentive. The draft beer selection was only about eight, but they were unique and not all IPAs like many bars. It was a nice variety. Wife and I would certainly come back.

Every time I come east to visit I have to make a stop here. Great burgers! They have a bourbon of the week. Say what?!? The mac & cheese burger along with the sweet potato fries I had last time was the bomb. Great little dive bar!

This is a cozy little gem in Cheshire with a very extensive and eclectic menu. Food was excellent and fresh. Management and staff were attentive and helpful. We took the family and the menu satisfied everyone. Nice job !!! It’s places like CJ Sparrows that make me wonder how chain restaurants continue to thrive. We will be back very soon !!!

Go here for the food. I stopped in here for a beer 5 years ago, ordered the turkey/​apple/​Brie wrap out of curiosity and we’ve been coming back since.
The atmosphere is like any bar but the food is the best in town.
Try the Heart Attack burger for sure.

I’m never disappointed here. The food is great, bar food– but far better than other more expensive joints like chili’s or buffalo wild wings. Good prices, big portions, everything made nicely. Last night I popped in to order some takeout — approached a bar back I thought was a server. And guess what –he was happy to get my order and take my payment. I swung back through 20 minutes later and a big bag loaded with exactly what I asked for, in eco friendly boxes awaited me. I’ve had a happy hour draft here, they put out a chaffer of wings for snacking. Great wings– and that’s from an upstate NY family. Their chili is fantastic. A chili bowl with chips is literally a few bucks. Perfect for a little something to go with drink at the bar. Yes, it’s a little «dive» spot. That makes it perfect. If you want fine dining service go somewhere else. I think the negative reviews are from people who can’t appreciate a good pub /​watering hole. Ah but if you want a beer in a frozen pint glass and a steak and cheese with real flavor this is your mecca. We’re local– and Cheshire needs CJ Sparrows. It’s the only spot like it around.

This place is just ok. They need a pool table and darts or some type of activity. Its trying to be like a gastro pub and its just not working. Keep the dive bar feel. Where is the live music? One night a week? Also the burger is supposedly good but it was just average. Lets get some young people in here also! Sheesh

Finally tried this place tonight and I’m glad we did. The service wasn’t great but also not terrible. We did wait a long time for our food to come. The food was just average. What we really loved about our meal here was the atmosphere. The live music was great and we both commented that we would be content spending a whole night just hanging out in there. We will be back to try drinks and more of the food!

awesome burgers! It is definitely a bar atmosphere, however the food is unbelievable and the service was great. I would not hesitate to go back here, my friends and I were thoroughly pleased.

My friend and I were traveling to new haven and we are staying a little outside the city in Hamden, we searched for about 20 minutes for somewhere to eat and finally reach cj’s sparrows. We went inside where we were told it closed in 10 minutes, both of us work in restaurants so we felt we were being the «people we hate» that come in right before they close. But they were so nice about it and didn’t care at all. I ordered a ‘rachel’ my friend ordered crab cakes and we were crazy about them! It was so delicious and you could tell how fresh the food was. The fries were fresh cut there and AMAZING, they aren’t too crazy about our over use of ketchup but come on were yinzers, home of Heinz!!! But the atmosphere was great a little hometown pub with a candle lit table, it truly was a great experience between the service, food and atmosphere! If you live nearby or just passing through like us I strongly recommend checking it out! I promise you’ll love it. Perhaps we’ll be back again!

GREAT food, GREAT service, GREAT atmosphere! My friend and I literally drove around for 20 minutes looking for a place that was still open at 9:15pm and we ended up here. I had the crab cakes, and they were absolutely delicious. All of the food was extremely fresh and tasted homemade. I also had the «best damn house margarita» and was very impressed with it! I would recommend this pub to everyone!

This place should be on Diners, Drive-​Ins and Dives… it fits perfectly. It’s located in a small plaza just off Route 10 in Cheshire. Nothing fancy inside; a bar, some booths, tables and an outside seating area.
The food here is excellent. I’ve eaten a lot off the menu and everything is fresh and homemade. Last time we were here, we had chips and salsa. They made the salsa themselves; no jar stuff. Same goes for a lot of sauces; try something with the maple chipotle if you can.
The specials are really good. The slider trio is a great way to try a three of their burger/​sandwiches on a smaller scale. The salads are enormous. They come in a serving bowl.
Service here is consistent. I’ve found the servers to be attentive and friendly. It can be a little slow if it’s busy, like on a night they have trivia.
This place is worth trying! It’s good food, homemade food and they always have some good/​unique beers on tap.

Awesome little dive bar like place with friendly service and great food !! When we were new to cheshire we weren’t so sure about this place, now where here a few times a month, sometimes more. The onion rings are to die for! Salads are huge and always fresh. I always look forward to their specials. Drinks are good and reasonably priced. They have home made desserts that I’ve yet to try because I always leave full.

CJ Sparrows continues to deliver the goods. Tina was our waitress today and I am always pleased to see her and hear her recommendations. I had the fried macaroni and cheese on top of a burger with sweet potato fries. (This dish should have come with a 3 day waiting period; it’s that lethal!)

OK OK. Since my last review I haven’t been to the trivia nights, mostly due to the fact that I can’t get there on time. Needless to say, I have not had any issues as of recently there, and food has been consistant. One pointer– ladies order a martini. They give you a HUGE glass along with the «extra» that couldn’t fit into the glass on the side on the rocks. very classy. It ends up being more like 2 drinks for the price of one, not to mention they are very well made!
