Probably the best pizza in Chesapeake. Very helpful staff and a great menu. I would go here again.

Read the reviews before you come here. This place is a dump! Disgusting inside, terrible food, and horrible service.

Zero Stars! The nearest dumpster would be better. Ordered delivery to my hotel and they brought my salad without utensils. I asked for Ranch AND Italian dressings (I offered to pay extra) and received 2 Ranch dressings. I also ordered the appetizer sampler — It was disgusting. Most of this meal went in the trash. I called back to let them know that when they deliver to a hotel room, they should bring utensils. I got, «ok thanks» — You know what?- Eff you!
Any place else is a better choice.

Great pizza & really friendly staff, even late at night when they thought the dinner rush was over!

This was the third time we ever ate here, and each experience worse than the first. This time we got up and left before anyone ever came to our table. Its really a shame, because honestly their food was pretty decent. However, the place is usually dirty and they have the worst service ever! Tonight they told us at the counter to be seated then they never came to help us in almost 15 minutes! There were only 3 small tables of customers there at the time and when i turned around to see if i could flag the waitress, i saw her shoveling food into her mouth while grabbing someone’s pizza to take to them. My husband went to the counter to ask questions (which they only really cater to carryout) and the server STILL never came. Never going back!

Let me first say that I completely disappointed with the level of customer service I received while dining at Venice Pizza this evening. I’ve dined there for the past 6 years and have never seen the owners tolerate this level or lack of customer service. The waitress (short bob, dark colored hair) was completely oblivious to my daughter and I walking in, and seating ourselves because she was busy have dinner/​chatting it up with her police officer friend. Additionally, she went around to two other tables seeing that we didn’t even have waters/​drinks at our table. Although it was dinner time, it wasn’t busy at all so once again I have a hard time understanding how or why she didn’t come to take out orders.
I finally got up and asked the cashier if their is another competent waitress who is actually taking orders. Needless to say the owner or manager overheard me asking the cashier and he took our orders!

I gave it four stars because for a pizzeria it was good better then good.
I ordered the deluxe calzone and it was very good. Vegetables were fresh. Plenty of meat.
My boy ordered 2 slices of cheese and they were typical huge slices but the pizza was tasty and he ate one and a half which is more then usual.
Service was friendly and the wait for food was minimal. So I highly recommend this place for a quick but quality lunch or dinner.

Ordered the pep calzone and a lg pizza and wings. and a peanut butter pie for dessert. It was great. Calzone was huge i didnt get to eat a whole slice of pizza cause it was huge. Pizza was crispy n loaded with cheese. Wings were great. price was good

Server was not very attentive and just brought food out in random order. Food was mediocre at best. Eggplant Parmesan sub was just fried eggplant and cheese, no marinara sauce. Seems like there are better places in the area.

Pizza was not the greatest, our mini corn dogs were over cooked, garlic knots were okay, but the desert was good. I felt the pizza should have been a lot better. It reminded me of the pizza from school, you know th old rectangular ones. Cheap cheese.

The customer service was very poor. The cashier did not acknowledge me at all and I was the only person in line. I thought the food would be great but was not even able to try it… Customer Service goes a long way… I will never visit this place again. I refuse to spend my money somewhere that I cannot get a simple «hello» or «I’ll be with you in a moment» or something.

Their pizza is okay, nothing special, but they seem to take forever even when they aren’t totally screwing up as they have been lately. Wait times are typically twice as long as stated, even for carry out.
I had stopped going there due to the long wait times and several botched orders, but for some reason I placed a delivery order on their website Friday night and prepaid with a tip. I got a confirmation email with a receipt saying that the order had been received by the restaurant. We waited patiently. Nothing ever arrived.
When we finally called them an hour and a half after placing the order, the owner was very short with me and I was told that the order had been sent out. I thought that was amazing that they could know that considering I hadn’t told him my name or address. I asked if he was sure, which is when he finally thought to ask for my name and address, and then he tells me again that it had been sent out. How did he know? Because there were no matching orders in the store. I asked him to make sure because we have been waiting for a very long time, and I could tell that I was trying his patience. Finally after some muttering and mumbling I got to the truth and was told that he never received the internet order. It was like pulling teeth to get to this point.
He then was very unhelpful in making things right. He told me that I would have to call the outside company that handles the internet order and straighten out the problem myself. I asked him if he would handle that but he offered no help in dealing with the internet sales company. Maybe he just didn’t feel like it or maybe it was because he didn’t even know their number. He told me that if I want a pizza that he will make it but I will have to place an order with him directly, but it would be a separate new transaction.
I searched online and finally found the number for this company and called them, and they proceeded to put me on hold while they called the restaurant and the owner told them that he never received the order. They come back on the line and tell me that Venice could still make the pizza but it would still be a 45 minute wait. That was salt in the wound.
At this point it dawned on me that I have waited for nearly two hours and have been jerked around by both the restaurant and the internet sales company and hadn’t gotten an apology or even so much as a courteous tone of voice from either of them, so I told them that was not acceptable and to just refund it. I drove out and got the same order from somewhere else in 10 minutes with no hassle whatsoever.
You’d think that would be the end, but there’s a follow up to this ridiculous story. Just after noon two days later, the order inexplicably shows up at my house, just after I had finished eating my leftovers from the other pizza place for lunch. Is this some kind of joke?
Customer service seems to be an alien concept here. I was a loyal customer just because I lived nearby and I’ve given them a lot of chances, but after this latest round of poor service I won’t be coming back. You really blew it, Venice Pizzeria.
If there is one great thing about this place it is the cashiers, who have been always been courteous and friendly. The management could stand to learn a few things from them instead of just barking orders down to them all the time.

Just ordered delivery for the first time. Driver showed up and didn’t have change for 40 bucks cash. He ended up making an extra 3 bucks after I was going to tip him five anyways. I got pizza, wings and garlic knots. Pizza is good. Wings suck and garlic knots were hard. I most likely won’t order again.

I ordered the «Philly Cheese steak» sub and it was really just sad. There was so little meat inside the sandwich. The sandwich tasted good in the sense that it just didn’t taste terrible. I say call it a steak sub and leave out the Philly trademark. I do want to try the pizza which I noticed was New York style and it looked delicious.

The best chicken and cheese Philly sub ever! They use real chicken meat that’s been seasoned well, not that frozen stuff. It was on a toasted bread with delicious buttery melted cheese.
The restaurant itself is a little small and it was a little too warm. Few of the tables were left dirty the whole time I was there. The lady behind the counter could of been more attentive to the dining area instead of just standing behind the cash register.
There were a lot of take outs while I ate my food there, probably something I would probably do instead. But my sub was so good and it is definitely one of the best tasting chicken Philly I’ve had!

This place is ok, I seem to be much more critical of places that advertise «New York style» being a NY’er myself, anyhoo today I ordered the hot wings and eggplant parmigiana sub. The wings were pretty good however I do like mine fried harder. The eggplant sub needs a little work to be considered «NY» style in my book; more marinara sauce for starters. I will try them again in the future.

I grew up in NY and have found it completely impossible to find decent pizza anywhere in the Norfolk area. I go to school in chesapeake and a friend recommended this place.
I wont go anywhere else for pizza anymore! Its close to the pizza im used to and delicious. The service is great.
It’s definitely worth the 25 minute drive to get here from home.

Pizza is grrreat! I have not been here in years… but my return yesterday was nothing short of ahhhhhhhhhhh (me singing)!! I love pizza from PIE shops and this gem here… super yummy! I have not tried anything else here, but they offer: hamburgers, subs, fries, stromboli and salads (prolly more too).
My daughter had the cheese slice and myself the pepperoni slice. They have about 6 choices, all so tempting, but a few offer extra cheese in order to keep the toppings ON the pizza. Even though, I get it, but the thought of extra cheese (when I’m focused on clean eating) was kinda upsetting my stomach. Therefore, I opted for the pepperoni and yes it was sooooooooooooooooo right up my alley. The pizza wasn’t too greasy, good! I think I may of had only one grease trail roll down my hand while I was eating. I said that to say, even though this was my cheat meal… I didn’t feel guilty at all eating it. hehehehehe The pizza is very thin, a plus for me as well!
My daughter (a picky eater) ate her slice too. She even cut it in half to make it seem like she had two hehehehe (she is 7).
The atmosphere is pleasant. There was a family/​friends of about 6 in there and they ordered 5 pie’s…they seemed to be enjoying every bite of it. I love to see this… nothing like great company and awesome food. I noticed the waitress interaction with them as well, she seemed friendly and inviting as well… another great look. It showed she wasn’t just doing a job, but seemed to be enjoying her day and servicing the guests.
A slice is $ 2 or so… but one slice of cheese and pepperoni and a small soft drink the total was under $ 7. It was well worth it!
The pizza options are behind a glass covering so you can definitely see what you are getting. I just love it here. I’ll be in the area today and I’m thinking about doing a drive by!!! To buy a PIE or not to buy a PIE that is the question…

Ordered delivery from Nearby Hotel. Delivery was fast. Pizza was ok, a little salty, but edible. It was also extra oily, more so than regular pizza. Delivery was pretty quick.

This place isn’t bad, but it’s not the greatest. I like the vibe of the restaurant and the server I had was really polite. She even had a rude customer while I was there (which was not the restaurant’s fault) and handled the situation calmly.
The garlic knots were good, but I thought the marinara sauce was a little watery. I ordered a 16″ pepperoni pizza pie to share which I liked, but I can see why others probably wouldn’t. The pizza was super cheesy but lacked in sauce, and the crust was thin. I personally didn’t mind though because I love pizza and I don’t really have a style preference. Plus, it takes a lot of flaws for me to really consider a pizza bad. So I liked it, but I’ve had better.
It’s slightly above-​average pizza that isn’t costly, at a quiet and comfortable environment. It isn’t my top choice to fulfill a pizza craving but I may possibly stop by for their lunch specials if I need a quick fix while shopping in the area.
