Einstein Bros Bagels

Ugh the bagels here are so good. I always get plain with plain cream cheese.
I am going through chemo and they seem to be one of the only things that tastes well.
I probably come here once or twice a week.

First time here. In town visiting and stopped in for breakfast. Ordered the Asparagus Mushroom Egg White bagel. Bagels seemed a little small for the price but was still very tasty. I ordered an Iced White Chocolate coffee and after a few sips I realized it definitely needed a few extra pumps of syrup. It hardly had any flavor to it. It would be nice is the cashier got the name right that was given with the order because we sat there for a few minutes trying to figure out whose name they were calling.

A nice little bagel shop with a wide range of options. You can get the usual toppings and spreads low-​calorie and other full flavored options. The bagels are made fresh daily and have a nice chew. I had the Southwest bagel which included an egg white option. Usually egg whites are much fresher than normal eggs but in this case they were a bit rubbery. The prices are reasonable and it seems like they have a fairly established clientele. Definitely worth coming back for.

The people at this Einstein Brothers seem to have worked out the problems they had in the beginning. Service is good, bagels are outstanding, coffee is fair. There aren’t many good bagel shops around these days, so it’s good to have them in Chesapeake.

The Bagels are good. The location is convenient. I like the décor. I wish they were closer. Good Luck Einstein, hope you come to my neighborhood soon.

When this place opened I thought finally a place to get decent bagels in Chesapeake. Wow what a disappointment. Bagels were mediocre enough for me to drive to Virginia Beach to get my bagels. I have been back since but no improvement. Staff doesn’t seem all there either.

Food was not bad. Nothing out of the ordinary. Lattes are decent. Some lattes are a bit bitter. It could be better. Their doggy treats for over a dollar suck and is very hard. Definitely not edible.
Most of the employees there were really nice and accommodating. However, the cashier we had yesterday morning was really rude. Tahara may have been having a bad day. When my husband and myself approached her register with smiles, she took that away as her demeanor and attitude was negative and rude. While waiting for our food, we realized that Tahara messed up our order as we asked for two breakfast sandwiches. But only received one. If she was my so busy being rude and having an attitude maybe things could have gone smoother that morning for us and other customers I observed having a problem.

So apparently the best employee they had got fired because he reported that one of the employees had pot or was smoking pot, not precisely sure about that part, but they fire the whistleblower. Wow, if that’s the real reason he was fired, it’s pretty disgraceful. I’ve been a regular at Einsteins. I’m talking every weekend and many week days. But I’m done now. That’s it. If I’m wrong, I invite management to correct me.

Let me preface this by saying I love EBB. I have been known to travel 200 miles to get a bag of their Autumn Blend coffee. That is why I was so excited that one was opening just a mile away from my house.
Walking in the door for the first time, I was disappointed. Although the atmosphere has been updated (apparently to compete with Starbucks and Panera), I liked the feel of the more industrial NYC bagel place of the old concept. Along with the new concept came an expanded menu. HUGE disappointment. The fare is mediocre at best. The thing Einstein did best was schmeared bagels and good coffee. They should just stick with that.
The staff was bumbling, but I chocked that up to opening jitters. I have been back 3 times since and this situation has not improved. They are friendly but inept.
I hope this place improves. I will be back for the Autumn Blend to give it another chance.

I had somewhat high expectations when I visited Einstein Bros Bagels for the first time. I had heard nothing but good things about them from friends who had tried other EBB locations around the county. After two visits to the Chesapeake location, I will not be a returning customer. It is a shame because EBB is super close to my workplace.
In my opinion, the bagels are nothing special. You can easily pick up a bag of bagels from the grocery store and they are equally as fresh as the ones that EBB offers. The prices are a bit high as well. I am not normally one to complain about the prices, but when you offer something so substandard, I would expect to pay much less. On a positive note, they do offer a large variety of drinks and spreads to accompany your bagel.
I drive by Einstein Bros every morning on my way to work and they sure had a booming business when they first opened, but now I am lucky if I see 1 car in the lot. I’m guessing that others feel the same way that I do.
Like the 2 star rating says, «Meh. I’ve experienced better.»

I have ate here 3 times in the last 2 weeks and every time I have been here the service was courteous and professional, the last 2 times the same gentleman assisted me with my order and was very friendly. The mixed berry smoothie is awesome as well as the cinnamon toast breakfast bagel. I will be back again.

Not sure why this place gets bad reviews!
My everything bagel was delicious and my entire order was fresh. I don’t expect people to love working food service every time I encounter a different place, but at least they are doing their job and not treating me like nothing, they at least act like they want to be here. The potato salad was great just tasted like a little too much mayo or vinegar (not sure what the recipe is) –and my mocha was also pretty good. I was happy to see FRESH avocado on my sandwich most places serve it when it is going brown! And my boyfriend finished his bagels no problem and also enjoyed his meal! We will be returning for lunch again soon!

This is way overpriced food, and is a very bad representation of the Einstein Bros Bagels chains around the nation.
Horrible customer service at the counter, and attitude from a «hispanic looking» lady, who did not have on a name tag so she could be identified.
They made my order wrong, and I was walking out of the door they YELLED at me «HEY COME BACK QUICK». They opened up my bag, then unwrapped my sandwiches right there on the counter near the drinks. After they found the sandwich that was supposed to be in someone else’s order, they just closed the wrapper back and shoved it into my sack. The lazy worker didn’t even bother to wrap the sandwich back up properly. They brought me another sandwich to replace the one they took away, which ended up being the wrong sandwich for my order.
There were only 2 customers there including myself, and they messed up my order twice in a row? Really?

Love their bagels and sandwiches.

The bagels are really good close to NY style. The muffins, pastries etc looks good but I haven’t tried them as of yet. It’s pretty cozy on the inside with a faux fireplace below a flat screen TV on the wall, comfortable chairs and free WiFi. They would have to expand their menu if they want to compete with Panera bread tho :-o

I will never eat here again. There were more employees behind the counter than customers when I went in. I ordered two toasted sesame bagels with salmon schmear to go. I was handed two little bags with cream cheese smeared on the outside that I had to wipe off myself before leaving. When I went to eat the bagels they were both burnt black on the top with the cream cheese spread on to cover. There is no way the staff missed this. It wasn’t busy. They just didn’t care. Unfortunately, I was too far away when I discovered this to go back and complain. The bagels tasted awful and ended up in the trash. No wonder this place was empty at lunch time.

Coffee was gross, bagel was delish!
I tried the spinach bagel which was so soft and fresh. Probably the best bagel I have ever had!
Coffee on the other hand tasted burnt. I complained and they switched it for a new batch which was just as bad.
I guess it’s not called Einsteins coffee for a reason.

I have been there 3 times and 2 of the times they have got my sandwich wrong and it is a very easy sandwich — Asiago bagel, ham and mozzarella. THAT IS IT! Somehow it goes in the register correctly but the sandwich makers get it wrong. It is such a shame because the bagels are good, but most of the staff is horrible. Truth be told, the manager Tahara fixed the problem both times. But it is a sandwich, not something complicated and it should not be this hard to get a sandwich right.

ARRRRRRRGH! the frustration of the inept staff. Seems to me they threw open the doors but forgot to train the staff. I went there twice to give them a break but no more. One person starts to take your order then they disappear. Another person takes over then your items get to the cash register, cashier starts to ring it up. THen you guessed it, they disappear. Finally, you pay. Then you have to ask for your items. BLeh! good luck to you if you go! You’re going to need it and a BUCKETFUL of PATIENCE!
No bagel is this good…

There is an Einstein Bros at my college (Odu, in the Perry Library) and it is extremely popular. The lines are always long, which made me avoid the place. Not because it was bad, but because it’s popularity at my school it was way too busy to even try to order anything there. The two times I did though, I enjoyed it.
I was surprised and thought it was random that an Einstein Bros was opening in Greenbrier, so I thought I would give this location a try! I went with my mom this morning. I ordered a classic egg cheddar and bacon on sesame bagel, and a iced mocha coffee. My mom got the same thing, but just a regular coffee. We both liked it a lot, I just wish they used real eggs. Other than that I’ll definitely be coming back!
