Estimated wait time for a toddler to get her ears looked at on a Sunday morning: 3 hours. Be prepared to wait. After screaming for most of the night and pulling on her ear, we decided to bring our daughter to Chkd’s urgent care. We got there at 11 on a Sunday morning when they first opened. Even though we got there early, it was a mad house. We sat next to a constipated little boy and another 3 year old that«broke his foot» even though he was running around on it and laughing. It took 30 minutes until we were called up to get registered, 1 hour and a half just to see the nurse, and 2 hours and 45 minutes to be called back to see the doctor. The doctor was young, but very professional. Since it was so busy, there was no small talk, he just went straight for the diagnosis which was fine with us since we had waited so long. That took about 5 minutes. Afterwards, he requested that we wait in the room while he finalized the report– probably why it takes so long just to be seen, poor doc! In the end, we got out of there, my daughter got medicine for her double ear infection, and I finally was able to get some sleep. Not so sure we would be back to this urgent care facility, unless more were to open closer to us with less wait time.

First of all, we love that there is a CHKD urgent care near us! Our kids’ pediatrician is affiliated with CHKD, so they conveniently have all of their information and when we have to go to pediatrician for the follow up appointment, they will have all the information from this visit, which is really nice! The facility is very clean and modern, and the staff is very friendly and cheerful, especially around the kids, which is nice when your child isn’t feeling good. The last couple of times we went here, it was late in the evening, but you wouldn’t be able to tell with friendly and cheer the staff was. My only issues are that the wait is extremely long, in the lobby and the examination room, but at what urgent care or ER isn’t? And being a long wait in the waiting room, I feel like there should be a toy station or something of that sort, to keep the kids busy. I know that some kids will probably be too weak or too sickly to want to play, but some kids or siblings could and it would make the time seem like it’s going faster.

I was forgotten about when I brought my daughter here. We checked in and when 3 people that came in after Us Were called back before me I got very pissed. Especially when the place was empty and I was just sitting there with the front desk ladies looking at us… I was thinking to myself if you see a patient sitting in the front not moving around with a very active toddler wouldn’t u say something!!! When we were finally called back after I had to ask them what about us, we were seen fairly quickly. I am pretty sure however that we were misdiagnosed and today I am having to follow up with her primary pediatrician… which defeated the purpose of the urgent care… but the place is very clean and once we were called back it went quick… quick and possibly wrong but quick. About 30mins

This place has a very convenient location for urgent care and it feels less stressful than having to go to the ER. Especially if your insurance is like mine and urgent care visits are significantly cheaper than the emergency room. The reception and check in staff were very friendly and personable, especially talking to my kids. They also got us back into a room relatively quickly, in about 20 minutes or so. The rooms have sliding glass as well as a curtain so there is ample privacy. Once we were back there, it took forever. We were back in the room waiting to be seen for well over 2 hours. Then once the doctor came in, she was with us for all of about 2 minutes, and had no personality whatsoever and didn’t really help ease my son’s nerves for being there in the first place. I have mixed feelings about it. When I’ve taken them to the CHKDER, we’ve gotten faster and better service by the medical staff itself. But the office staff(and my out of pocket cost) are far better.
