I debated giving this place 3 or 4 stars. I think it has a lot more potential, perhaps if I had ordered something more exciting. They definitely have some artistic photos on Unilocal and the menu. I ordered a homely California roll and the Chirashi dinner. The California roll was average; the Chirashi was also average… just some of the fish was cut in too big slices and the rice on the bottom was stingy. They were having a special on some of the rolls for 50% off, and that’s why I had the California roll, unfortunatley it didn’t show up on my ticket at the half off price. Service was really great, but I was the only person in there on a slow, cold night. Bathroom is actually pretty, with a big Ukiyo-e window. Parking is no problem, so long as you don’t try to go when the neighboring Egg Bistro is open.

This is by far the best sushi in the 7 cities. I recommend to anyone. I’ve had sushi all over and there’s something about this place that has my attention. Ang is the owner and he’s usually here to cook he’s very nice and the rolls come out quite fast. The Spicy City Roll is my new favorite.

It’s chinese owned. So it’s not authentic Japanese sushi. It’s Chinese — Japanese sushi. The server was a little bit rude. She asked if we are ready to order drinks«I said not yet» 3 sec after she gave the menu, she said«order your drinks not yet?» In a rude tone and my husband said«give us a minute» and she just went away without a word. They were not even busy there were only 2 tables occupied including us. Not coming back. Kyushu they said is better and authentic. We will see…

It took me a bit of time to get back to Ang’s but I have to say, this is the best sushi place in Chesapeake. I was talking to some friends tonight and I was very adamant about them adding Ang’s to their list of places to visit. The quality is unmatched. We split a number of things and it was impressive all the way through. We had the soft shell crab, Ang’s special, salmon carpaccio(my favorite), the spam sushi(for all you spam lovers), and while I enjoyed this, I ordered chirashi and wished I ordered one of his specialty rolls. With that being said, I would recommend that you don’t order sashimi or chirashi. If you did what you’ll get is fresh and you’ll love what you eat but Ang’s creativity stands out among the many chefs in the area and you’d be missing out on his special creations by not ordering his rolls. From design, taste, and presentation, it’s something you don’t want to miss. I won’t wait so long until my next visit.

My hubby brought me here for an anniversary dinner it was good! Ambience was nice we came on a Friday at 5:30 only six others in the restaurant. Chef Ang was on the sushi Bar! The food was outstanding the only negative thing was once it started getting busy we realized there’s only one Waitress for entire restaurant for the two hours we were there on a FRIDAY! About the great sushi, the spicy girl was super yummy, Alaska, shrimp tempura and volcano were super yummy! I’d be back, we enjoyed the food!

Seriously the best sushi place I’ve been! Ang is the sushi master who’s there day in and day out. He makes every sushi like it was his last time making them. The rolls are filled with lots of fillings inside and little rice instead of the usual little fillings and a lot of rice on other sushi places. Come and support this local restaurant and you will not be disappointed.

Had dinner with my cousin, because she was so eager to go there and craving sushi, she dragged me along with her. She told me about the 50% reg. Rolls they have during dinner time till they close. We ordered the spicy salmon roll consisted of(salmon and crunch), Spicy yellowtail roll consisted of(yellowtail and crunch), super duper roll(consisted of cooked salmon, eel, & avocado with eel sauce), & shrimp tempura roll(consisted of fried shrimp and spinach leaves with eel sauce). Each roll is originally $ 5-$ 6 and paid half so each roll was like $ 2.50-$ 3.00. We got plenty of food for a great price. The quality of the food was really good and the service was great. A really chill place to have dinner at, for either a romantic dinner or with family/friends.

I really enjoyed our visit to this restaurant! The food was really good and the staff was very nice. I love the décor and relaxed atmosphere. My husband felt the Wasabi was a milder version than what he’s used to, but was still good. We definitely plan to come back soon!

First, let me start by saying I love their food and ambience. Nice jazzy music playing in the background, open, and quiet. Now for the part that is absolutely frustrating for me and to most consumers: specials that have too many exclusions. If you are going to offer a special, offer it. If not, don’t. There is nothing more frustrating to me than too many restrictions on the special that it no longer becomes a special. I ordered a full priced item at lunch and one roll which should be ½ off on special. I’m dining in… But I MUST eat that roll in order to get it particularly half off even though I also ordered a full priced item off the menu. My lunch now cost me $ 12.50 plus tax and tip which wouldn’t be a problem… But I absolutely HAD to eat that ½ price roll or pay full price for it. I don’t understand having specials that you can’t enjoy. Sure, some would say just order this only or that but it’s the principle of the thing. I’m frustrated at the experience today. The one restriction that irritates me the most is the restaurant coupon I purchased that supposedly had no restriction except to spend a certain amount, and when I tried to order food on special in restaurant(even if it was over that amount) I couldn’t use the coupon I already purchased for that. It is one or the other. When I purchased the restaurant coupon, it had no other restrictions.

This place has really nice sushi. I stopped here for lunch. I had a lunch combo of two rolls with miso soup. The miso soup was pretty standard. The rolls I tried were tuna avocado and yellow fin. They were both great. Very fresh tasting fish. The service was very attentive.

Wow, I can see why they’re so good. Sitting at the sushi bar, I got to watch the plates being prepared and it was quite the show. Small platters, big platters, all sorts of fish being carefully carved and arranged. I had the«Crazy Ang’s Platter» and with four sauces on it, it was a bit much. Pretty to look at and I should have known, because I’m not a huge sauce fan. None-the-less, it was tasty. I also had a simple fish in a carved cucumber sushi, which always looks nice and tastes better. The slight vinegar in the sauce really kicked up the flavor of the very simple fishes. I had a nice salmon skin hand roll to finish(after I was given a plate of tuna that was seared and sliced thin, yum) and it was perfect. Nice crispy salmon skin in a cone of seaweed paper. A few drops of soy sauce and I was off to the races. Great prices on beer here. $ 4! Cheap! Service was excellent and the fish was excellent. Absolutely great stuff!

This is the best sushi place I’ve been too. Inviting atmosphere, clean, fair prices and overall tasty sushi, this place has it all. I am a simple sushi eater, mostly sashimi and simple rolls. They had 50% off rolls on the day I went so l spent less than 2 dollars for 3 rolls and a salad. Service is also excellent, not too pushy but very helpful. I will definitely return in the future.

Drove 45 miles to goto this Awesome place, The Owner Ang was at the Sushi counter when we entered it was their 2 year Anniversary. The Entire staff was amazing, the restaurant is immaculately clean, the food top shelf all the way around. Mido soup excellent the Avacado Salad perfect proportions. There were 4 of us in the group we all ordered 3 rolls and all 12 were huge and delicious. For the size of the rolls the price was extremely reasonable. The Ang Roll was definitely a new favorite and worth driving for.

Finally made my way to Ang’s for dinner tonight with the hubs. I’m a bit torn on whether to give 3 or 4 stars because our wait for our food was rather long. But it wasn’t like we were in a rush, it was quite busy, and the quality of the food was just really, really good. So I’m opting to give them the benefit of the doubt. It was hard to decide what to have for dinner because of all the great specials they’re running right now, plus an extensive menu. We ended up getting a shrimp tempura app, Volcano Roll and Super Crunchy Roll to start, figuring we could add on if we wanted more. The tempura was delicious. As for the rolls, the ingredients were very fresh and each had a distinct, delicious flavor profile that stood on their own. We added on a Spicy California Roll at the end to complete our meal. As I said, the wait for the food was longer than I’d expect, but service was polite and pleasant. I’d think at some point they’ll need to bring on a little extra staff to handle increasing popularity. I’m looking forward to going back and trying some other items. I’d really like to try that Bento special. They were going to tables nonstop while we were there and looked to be a really perfect individual meal.

I have to say this is one of the my favorite sushi restaurants that I’ve been to. The food is great! I really enjoyed my meal, and you could tell he really puts a lot of work into his food. We had a very nice server. She didn’t really say much to us, but she was still very pleasant. We went on a quiet night, and I was surprised by how empty the restaurant was at that time. There were maybe only two or three other groups. But it’s a fairly small restaurant, so there weren’t very many tables anyway. It was a nice, quiet, intimate environment to enjoy your dinner. I really enjoyed my meal.

My husband and I love going to Ang’s Sushi bistro. We’ve been a few time before but I’ve never took the time to write a review. The ingredients are fresh and you can tell they don’t skimp on quality. We haven’t ever gotten anything that we didn’t like. It’s made to order by the owner so making changes/additions to the sushi is no problem. The dumplings are AMAZING. They are a must. You will wait longer here than at any other sushi place but the wait IS always worth it.

With the temptation of AYCE sushi restaurants in the CHES/VB, it is easy to neglect authentic jewels such as Ang’s. Sushi can be quite expensive but this place is worth every pretty penny! I am no sushi connoisseur but I can surely vouch for fine sushi. The tiger roll and spicy yellowtail were an absolute hit for me. It was very fresh and probably the best yellowtail I’ve had to date! I love salmon sashimi, so I ordered the salmon carpaccio, and it is the best salmon appetizer I’ve ever had! There’s a tang that hits your palette, and the salmon just melts in your mouth! I typically don’t care for miso soup or house salads at sushi restaurants but the miso soup is not overly salty and the tofu size/ratio is just right. The house salad is fresh and the ginger dressing has a nice citrus quality to it! Ang’s pickled ginger does not leave a strong bitter aftertaste, which I would have otherwise skipped at any other mediocre sushi restaurant. I am looking forward to trying more of Ang’s specialty appetizers & rolls! Service is very pleasant! The dark wood décor gives off a low-key vibe. I’d love to see this establishment grow and have more business volume. One of a few stellar locations for sushi in the HR area. Quality sushi and authenticity always triumphs!

I was really excited to try this place because it got really good reviews on Unilocal and I was tired of just eating at all you can eat sushi places. My favorite thing to order is salmon sushi and it can get extremely expensive if it’s not all you can eat. And to be honest, I don’t really notice too much of a quality difference to warrant such an expensive price. Anyways there were some definite good points to this place. The soft shell crab appetizer was absolutely delicious. Perfectly cooked and seasoned well. The tiger roll was also absolutely delicious. No soy sauce is necessary because the sauces they put on it give it a nice flavor profile. Things that weren’t so great: leeks wrapped in thin slices beef appetizer, crazy ang roll. The beef was tough and I just wasn’t feeling the combination of the leeks and beef. The sauce they served it in was good though. The crazy ang roll had a lot going on with it. Although the sauce combination was delicious there was just too much in each roll to really enjoy the flavor. I just felt like the balance of all the ingredients were a little off. For the price I’m not sure I can say it was worth it. The service was good and the sushi was fine. I’m just not sure if I will go here again.

I had to bump it up to full five. I love places like this where the cooks are the same and consistent with their food. I came back here another two times. He puts so much thought and prep into the food and he makes plating a key aspect in his craft. I applaud Ang very much for his dedication. You walk in and he’s standing there all day making sushi fresh as you order. His food is edible art. I stray away from sushi slathered in a ton of sauce/tempura. For it takes away from the real sushi experience. So far I’ve tried the tuna in hot oil appetizer. Tuna tataki with watermelon and avocado(summer special). Sashami deluxe, which was so good and I couldn’t finish. This is definitely a place where of you’re HUNGRY get an appetizer or two to guarantee a full tank in your stomach. Japanese cuisine is meant to satisfy your hunger compared to the gold ol american stuff your face off portions. The portions are definitely on the smaller side. Soup and salad does the job for me. I will say this place is one of the best I’ve had in the 757, as much as I like to save money, I prefer to spend a little more on authenticity over portions.

Star 1 — Walked through the door and I was immediately greeted by Ang, even while he was busy using his sushi-making skills. Star 2 — A Unilocal deal! Star 3 — The OMG roll. I have to. OMG this was really good! Star 4 — The sashimi is some of the freshest I’ve ever had. Star 5 — Beef negimaki. Such a great appetizer. I’d give more if I could. Just do yourself a favor and go here before you go anywhere else for a delicious sushi meal!
