The restaurant is clean and very nicely decorated. The food tasted fresh and there was a nice variety of food on the buffet. Wait staff was efficient and polite.

I used to be a regular here when I lived in the area. I don’t eat seafood so I can’t comment on the complaints of lack of crab legs and such when they are offered. The other food is always hot, refilled often and delicious on all of my visits. It is my preferred buffet and I have even ordered the buffet«to go». It is half the price of wegmans buffet take out and much better quality as well!

Fancy«Chinese garden» décor with a good selection of Cantonese Chinese favorites. They had a couple steamers of shui mai dumplings, pot stickers and won tons(I’d skip the won tons — the pasta wrappers were thick). Nice selection of stir fried dishes. Very tender beef dishes(beef with broccoli, beef stir fry) which impressed me. Sat night was crab legs night, but unfortunately, it was a little slow to refill the empty server. I never got any. But the ribs — a good telltale sign for any Chinese buffet — were very meaty and tender. Sushi section and selection was fine if small. Service was very prompt to clear plates. Overall, a good buffet. I’d go back.

Why do we like to punish ourselves? I saw the ratings already on Unilocal and knew I would probably not like to food here; yet I still went. After eating here I feel nauseated. Most of the food are not fresh and the selections are extremely poor. If this is the quality of food in Buffalo, I am glad I won’t be coming back.

The food here has gotten pretty boring. It’s like mass produced cafeteria food. 2 of the buffet items I tried were horrible. The Mongolian part of the buffet is the redeeming part for me as you get to choose your ingredients and sauces. The servers were very attentive. Make sure you use the coupon from your valpak if you must go

I used to come here when it was all the buzz. Over the years its gotten worse and worse. In one of the booths(which I’ve heard they’ve since taken down) used to be some sort of artistic rendition of a cat with fur on it. Not the type of stuff you want to see while eating that type of food. They have days where they offer what I guess you would call crab legs, which are more like crab pinky’s because they are so small… and it’s like catch it if you can because every time they put a new serving out, there’s some guy with 3 plates waiting to take them all. The food isn’t all that bad, it could be alot worse. However, my beef with them is that during the transition from lunch to dinner crowd there seems to be a lot of confusion. One time I came in as a lunch guest and was on about my 4th plate, when all of a sudden one of the workers approaches the table and asks if we’d planned to stay for dinner because if so it’d be extra $$$. I felt like before I could even finish getting the words«No» out of my mouth she was lifting our plates off of the table letting us know we had to go. That was completely unprofessional and rude, and not to mention a waste of food(we were eating at the time that she snatched our plates away) the experience left a sour taste in my mouth. Not enough to trash talk the place. The rating is based on food quality and experience each time I’ve went.

I am not a food critic but this needs to be known. This place was the worst Buffet My husband and I have ever went to. The food was soggy. The meat literally tasted like it cooked long ago, put away in the freezer for way too long and heated it back up a couple times. Disgusting not fresh at all ! Please don’t come here if you want to have a good dinning experience, don’t waste your hard earned money here!

I give this place 5 stars, why? Well, first off it’s $ 13.99 for dinner per person(you’d never find that in Toronto). Second, if you’ve ever had Western Chinese food(or even Chinese buffet) you’d know this place was actually decent in terms of flavour and taste! I’ve been to Zhang’s on many occasions. Yesterday, it happened to be Father’s Day and they were having a crab leg special! Everything tasted great! Sushi was to standard, rice and rolls were done right, hot foods were hot and included a wide variety of dishes, even seafood. As for dessert, I would skip the pastries and just go for the soft serve or fruits. Overall I’ve only had positive experiences here & service is as you expect at a buffet, not as attentive and servers only come around to clear dishes or grab refills.

If you don’t like Zhang’s you don’t like Chinese buffets. I don’t get an upset stomach or the trots so I don’t know what some diners’ problems may be. If you don’t want what they already have out you can choose your own fresh food and they will cook it for you on the spot. Some still complain, proving some folks just can’t be pleased. It costs more than many CBs but it’s bigger and better than most so there you go. Folks, please help the public by posting objective comments only. Take your frustrations out elsewhere please.

It’s a Chinese buffet. It was good. Food seemed fresh to me. Sushi was good but I would have like to have seen a bigger selection. The habachi was the best to me. It’s kind of hidden by the sushi but I enjoyed that most.

I kind of expected better based on how flashy the joint is on the outside. Inside there was kind of a weird smell(stagnant water from the pond thing?), and a sense of dilapidation. I think this place had a glory day it has since passed. There were signs of the old flash such as the ceiling, the front pond, an empty bar, but things are kind of falling apart inside. Food– meh. I’ll take my local take-out joint over this and I’ve been to better Chinese buffets in the past. They are interesting in that they do sushi, have miso soup, and a few other Japanese influences floating around.

Worst chinese food i have ever had. Food is seriously horrible here and it is over priced. I really love chinese food, so few people suggested me to go to zhangs. This is why I wanted to explore this place. My husband and I went for a buffet here. Every single item was tasting so sweet. I like my food to be salty and spicy, atleast I dont expect it to taste sweet. I just could not finish a single dish that i had on my plate. Desserts are suppose to be sweet, not the noodles or the lo mein. Man, that is not how you prepare chinese food. It was like wasting time, money and punishment eating food at zhangs. If you are looking for authentic chinese you should try miss hot café at sheridan drive. Food is yummy, its spicy and it does not taste sweet at all. Also you can explore pf changs in walden galleria mall. Good food with a fine spice level. After having buffet at zhangs, my love for chinese food was almost over. Thank god we have places like miss hot café and pf changs here in buffalo.

You zhang, my lord? Hopefully not. You would think that with a name like this, they would serve Lamb Zhank and Flzhank Steak. But no. How about Zhangers and Mash? Nope. OK, sure, I admit that it’s a cool concept, go in and eat as much seafood and hearfood and feelfood as you want, but the food quality here, as with many Chinese or Mongolian or Taiwanese or Western Samoan buffets, is very low quality. The cool thing(and the reason for 2 instead of 1 stars) is that you can get food freshly cooked for you if you choose the ingredients and take it to the chef. The main problem though is not the lack of taste or freshness. It’s the fact that I always seem to get an upset tummy after eating here. It’s also a bit more expensive than your typical OCB type place.

Great Mongolian Buffet section, rest of the food is decent but not spectacular. Went in with a friend fluent in the Dialect the workers were speaking in. Halfway through our meal he stood up, threw money on the table and asked us to leave. As we left he spoke to the worker who turned red then purple. Once outside he explained that the servers were discussing our physical attributes(we are large people, i’ll give them that) and how they wanted to close early and would have if the«round eyed white devils hadn’t shown up». He had told the worker that he understood what was said and that you never know who speaks your language. Haven’t been back since and don’t think I’ll bother to go back.

Maybe I’m being generous in my rating but I love this place and the food! Rice, noodles, beef, chicken, pork… the choices are unlimited as to what you can eat here. Clean dining room, efficient staffing keeps your table clean while your up at the line adding more food to your plates. Food is great tho! They serve seafood fried and raw. Have not tried it yet.(Scared too)

Disclosure: This review is being written by the same girl who was very recently cautioned about such restaurants by the nice exterminator… So, welcome to Zhang’s where you can dine under the sparkly faux crystal chandeliers and among the great unwashed and tattooed. The embroidered pictures were interesting to behold: stained, torn and scotch taped into warped matting. The place was unswept and sticky. I don’t love buffets, and don’t frequent them, but… Grace and I went on a whim because my #3 son was playing baseball against Cheektowaga high school, and this place was right across the street. PLUS the pictures in the Clipper magazine have always made the restaurant look all shiny and safe. I didn’t finish any of the spoonfulls that I put on my plastic dish. I couldn’t. I was starving, and I still couldn’t manage to chew and swallow… mainly because the sh! t wasn’t worth the calories and fat. The spring rolls were alright… The lo mein: greasy, chewy and barely warm. Yuck. Fried rice was dried out. The nice Asian lady would bring new trays of slop out such as Kung Po, but it was fried to death. Burned. Ick, my stomach is turning while I write this. Trying to be *good* I piled on the vegetables, but too were saturated in salty greasy slar. I picked up a cheese and pepperoni egg roll for Grace on my 2nd trip up — just for fun, but it was inedible. The eggroll was tough, the cheese was hard and cold, and the pepperoni was grey. None of the fud was hot. The desserts were the typical strange buffet offerings — dried out pasteries made with whipped plastic, honey nut things, jello(yummmm), hunks of bananas ladeled with red matter. Oh, and soft serve. Grainy, fake vanilla flavored soft serve. I should have scraped my dish directly into the toilet because that is exactly where my 30 bucks ended up 2 ½ minutes after I got home.
