Garden Buffett was good, one of the best Chinese restaurants I’ve been too. After not eating it for a year or so it was well worth it…

Solid Asian buffet conveniently located across the mall. No one expects gourmet food from a buffet, but Garden Buffet excels in variety with a salad bar, a sushi bar, a Mongolian grill(where you bring all your own ingredients to be stir fried), as well as more traditional Cantonese fare including some dumplings, pot stickers and dim-sum-ish items. Fast and brusque service, I’ve been twice and not been disappointed with the quality of the food. The sushi section is much bigger than Zhang’s, and I was pleased that they replenished empty items pretty quickly. Very popular, the parking lot is a bit of a gamble!

Pretty satisfied with there lunch. The sushi wasn’t bad just an there was plenty of options. Wish it they where labeled. The food was satisfying for a buffet. The host was rude but our waitress was nice. I will plan another visit !

Oh, Garden Buffet. Our relationship is abusive at best. I come running to you when I need comfort, support, and a thousand pounds of sushi. You, in return, give me love that only crushes me after we part. The best hangover cure on Transit, Garden Buffet has an excellent array of handmade sushi rolls and nigiri. They also have a fantastic Mongolian wok area that allows patrons to build their own plates. Besides the board, Garden Buffet also has four buffet service areas. One is for fresh shrimp, clams, salad, and dessert items(Go for the macaroons every time!) One area is all deep fried items(like crab rangoons, egg rolls, sweet & sour chicken, and wings) and soups. The other two feature stock Chinese-American dishes like honey chicken, lo mein, fried rice, whiteifish, baked clams(so good), and black pepper chicken. They also make a killer mac and cheese. I have come here more times than I(or my checkins) would like to admit. But with such cheap prices and such a wide variety of items to choose from, I’ll swallow my pride(along with seventeen rolls of sushi and a pound of other food) and come back for more time and time again.

One word… Don’t. The food was not fresh… 60% of the items were not available they were basically empty… I personally like selection in my buffets… I will not be returning here.

I don’t know why the expectations of some of the other reviewers are so high. It is a buffet for peep sake. The food here is way better than the dozens of other Chinese/Japanese buffets I’ve been to. They’re very fast to clear your used dishes off the table and to refill your drinks. Come at lunch when it’s $ 7.99/adult Mon-Fri.

This is my favorite spot to hit up when I’m craving Chinese take out food and I’m super hungry. There dishes are usually 85% the same every single time for both lunch and dinner. Lunch and dinner dishes aren’t any different, but the prices are(being the dinner is more expensive). It’s a good(relatively) cheap option for big parties. They have a bunch of seats there! You have to pay a little extra for soda but you get free refills. I usually avoid the soda because it fills you up. Besides the typical Chinese take out food, they have a few platters of sea food every time and check out their Mongolian grill! You pick your ingredients and sauce for an employee to cook in front of you!

Lovin’ Spoonful(AKA Norb has opinions on everything Restaurant Division :) Garden Buffet Chinese food. In keeping with a family tradition, New Year’s Eve means a Chinese buffet for the family. This year, we went to the Garden Buffet, 7516 Transit Rd, Buffalo, NY14221, 633‑9888. This is in a small nondescript looking building and I wasn’t sure about going there but it was recommended to me by a coworker. They had adequate parking when we rolled up in 4 separate cars. It reminds me of a cocoon. It looks plain on the outside but is impressive once you open it. I wish this place was in Lockport. We were pleasantly surprised with the variety of food available including chicken, beef, crab, clams, octopus, Chinese dishes and some of the best sushi I have ever had. They have over 100 items available daily and actually have 5 tables loaded with food. This is the most extensive Chinese«Buffet» I have seen in years. I had made reservations for 11 people and had anticipated them pushing a few tables together for us. This wasn’t the case and even when I asked, we had to sit at 2 separate tables. They said they had to keep the walkway open so if there are more than 8 people in your party, you may want to go elsewhere. This made it less enjoyable for us as a family but we dealt with it. Next time we will have to specify we all want to sit together. If they can’t accommodate us we go elsewhere. Someday restaurants will realize that accommodating the customer is as important as the food or service. That being said the food was fresh and well prepared. It didn’t seem to be loaded with MSG that causes me some problems. Restaurant was clean and service acceptable. Prices were reasonable. The bill for 9 «adults»(Anyone over 4′ tall is an adult) and 2 children(Drinks are extra) was $ 177.49 tax included. I did forgot to ask for the senior discount but won’t fail next time.(I usually do). The rating I gave them has nothing to do with the food because the food rated a much higher score but their inflexibility for seating reduced it. We will going back but may not bring as many people with us. Due to their unbending policy that didn’t allow my family to dine together, they only get an 8 out of 10. P. S. We ate at 11:30 and I sit here at 6:00 P.M. not even interested in dinner. Must have been the 2 plates of sushi I started out with.

Mediocre Asian buffet. Tons of options for oily, greasy, deep fried foods. Lots of carbs. Crab legs were non existence, very disappointed. We came because we saw crab legs on their ad in front of the restaurant. We complaint, manager only gave us discount for next time. We will never come back, so no thanks.

I was in the area and decided to try this place because i was craving a buffet. This place opened within the past 3 years so everything inside was fairly new and clean. I walk in and said wow this place looks pretty good. I place my order for my pop and make my way to the buffet. At first, the food looks ok, and then it hit me. The place has the same type of food as the Buffet in Hamburg called Mongolian Buffet. The way how the food was presented felt like it was the same owner or at least same family. I gave his place a lower star rating because the most of the food & sushi was not replenished as fast as the Hamburg location. There was times were it took a little while for anything fresh to come out. Also some offerings they had wasn’t as good as the Hamburg buffet. Some examples was, the Bacon wrap shrimp which the Hamburg location has but this location has Bacon wrap imitation crab. There was also some offerings that was not here that the Hamburg location did have. Also the sushi here did not have Tamago or the Red Ahi Tuna. They did clear the plates from my table really quick so thats a big plus. Over all, I won’t be coming back to this Buffet because the offerings here are of lesser quality and is the same price as the Hamburg buffet place.

This is a really affordable buffet with a lot to pick. I like their green beans so much, french fires, deep fired chicken wings, the soups(wanton soup and hot and sour soup), they have seafood u can pick too. The shrimps with bacon was really good, the salmon was seasoned well. For this price u can’t really expect more than that. For your first time visit of this place I would always suggest to try their lunch buffet first. Some people like this place a lot because of the affordable price with good amount of seafood and food to pick. Some people hate this because they have high expectation of the seafood and sushi but you are paying average price so please don’t expect a extremely high quality.

Very clean place. Definitely more presentable than other Chinese buffets in town. Lunch buffet is cheap. Love the Mongolian grill. I think it has the mist varieties comparing to other Chinese buffets in town. The food was somewhat fresh but I am not a fan.

Haha my family from China were visiting during the summer and I brought them there to get a first try in Chinese buffet. For me, it’s a typical one and the food was average. I suppose all Chinese buffet diners got«standard operation procedures» in preparing food. It’s an experience with a lot of fun. Most of them enjoyed the hot&sour soup and tried all different kinds of «Chinese food»; my little cousin got satisfied with rainbow ice cream; parents were happy with hot water they provided; Auntie had a big no to olives but yes to mussels; my hubby and I filled our stomachs with watermelons! At least everyone can find something! Honestly the mongolian stir fry and sushi bar need a little improvement to be average.

My 1st time. We took my great aunt for her birthday. They basically charged her twice for the same thing. We explained her food would be to go not to eat as she is older at 89 and funny about eating in public. They said fine but charged me twice anyways. 3 stars for that and not very friendly or personable. The bar chef was very quiet and hated questions. He was younger I’m assuming but let’s face it they all look youthful. Now for the food!!! My favorite part. With out question some of the best I have ever had. Beef and broccoli from the buffet made with REALSIRLOIN. superbly seasoned I might add. The best crab Rangoon I have ever had. Coconut shrimp was a real treat. They’re fried shrimp was succulent and made to perfection. The mongolian bar was put simply AMAZING. the chef very quiet but he is very good at his station. Improve customer service and don’t take advantage of the elderly and 5 stars all the way.

Alright, so my daughter wanted to go to a place where you can«pick your own food» for her birthday. She’s nine, so maybe she didn’t know there’s a word for that. I have a word for this particular buffet: gross. So, the reason we went here is because we had heard there was a buffet that had sushi. I love sushi. I can tell you that what they server here is not sushi. It sort of looks like sushi I suppose, but it was so god awful I couldn’t eat it. I understand that standards were low for sushi in a Chinese buffet, however, this was terrible under any standard. Just horrific. The rest of the buffet was your typical mix of «Chinese» and fried American foods. None of it was above average, and some of the classics like General Tso Chicken were actually not that great. There is a Mongolian grill top in the back where you can have a bunch of stuff cooked for you. So here’s where it went very, very badly. A woman is walking out of the kitchen with a tray of lettuce for the salad bar area. She coughs directly into it, making no attempt to cover her mouth. She couldn’t stop coughing and was obviously quite ill. She replaced the existing lettuce with the lettuce she coughed in, and stirred it up. Then she continued to cough straight forward. Then, she stuck here head under the glass hood of the sushi area to say something to the sushi guy, and coughed directly on all of the sushi. I thought I was on one of those hidden camera shows. I found absolutely no redeeming value to this place. I suppose our server was nice, but aren’t they always at Chinese buffets? Seriously though, if that is what is acceptable on the actual buffet floor, imagine what is acceptable behind the kitchen doors.

Decent Chinese, can be expensive depending when you go(weekend dinner time), but lunch during the week is a good price. Good sushi bar and good selection but if it’s not busy the food can get pretty stale tasting. If you go within an hour of closing they don’t like seating you and talk you into getting stuff to go, gave me a good deal on it but i wasn’t able to get all I wanted. Whole point in a buffet is to have a variety…

As far as Chinese Buffets are considered I’d say this is one of the better ones in Buffalo. I came here for lunch with some friends on a recommendation. It was a good recommendation for a Chinese buffet. The food is pretty standard fair with some extras; there are 3 tables for hot dishes, the dessert/salad bar, a sushi bar, and Mongolian BBQ. I was pleasantly surprised about the sushi, good for a buffet, but nothing compared to an actual Japanese restaurant. I didn’t get to try the Mongolian BBQ, but that looked fairly good as well. I really liked the small sesame balls. The place was clean and relatively new. There was adequate seating and the service was fine. I think this will be my go to buffet place in Buffalo now, until something better comes along.

As far as Chinese buffets go, Garden Buffet is king. They have some run of the mill mediocre food on the buffet, but there’s a few dishes that I’d consider as good as an a la carte restaurant quality(peanut chicken I’m looking at you). They also have a made to order Mongolian grill station which is awesome, put all the ingredients you want on a plate and they’ll cook it up for you. They have surprisingly good sushi for a buffet too. Can’t beat the quality/quantity for the price, never been for dinner but lunch is only $ 8.

On my ratings scale of Chinese buffets, this one ranks at about a 2.5−3 stars. It’s not amazing but it’s not bad at all. I’m going to give a solid 3 stars because the place is new, clean, and I found enough decent food for lunch here. I saw someone’s 1-star review and then looked up the business. My brother and I had JUST been talking about our old favorite Chinese buffet(5-Star, on Sheridan near Youngs in Williamsville) that closed. We used to go with our buddies when we were in college. College kids’ dream food. HAHAHA! Anyway, he was off of work today so I asked him if he wanted to go for lunch and he jumped at the offer. Like I said, this place is new so it’s clean and feels nice when you walk in. We were seated, ordered drinks immediately, and then headed to the buffet. I’ve been to enough buffets to know that on round one, you take a piece of everything that seems appealing to you, return to your table, and decide with a one bite taste what you want to invest your caloric intake on for the day. There are basically 2 lines that are all fried foods(from french fries to egg rolls to fried«seafood» to mac & cheese, etc.). Another that is all typical Chinese dishes(chicken and broccoli, General Tso’s, fried rice, lo mein, etc.) Another that is a salad bar, dessert bar, and has cold shrimp and mussels(today). And finally the back wall which is sushi and mongolian bar, which was like a made-to-order noodle bar. With this huge of a selection, I don’t see how even the pickiest eater could have a hard time finding something(mac & cheese and french fries even if you don’t like Chinese). If you’re looking to be healthier, the salad bar(fresh lettuce and fixins, fresh fruit, etc.) and mongolian noodle bar(included fresh meats, veggies, noodles, you can probably ask for little oil use too) would probably be your best bets. Basically, there is pretty much something here for everyone. My favorite items after my first pass through of single bites were the Chicken in a stick(satay, basically), and beef with mushrooms and steamed white rice. I didn’t particularly care for the egg roll and dumpling. And I actually liked the raw salmon sushi roll 1000 times better than the California roll(which was not good at all). Haha! The desserts were meh. Canned pudding, dry little cakes… I didn’t try the ice cream, though it looked okay. Overall not the best buffet ever but certainly not bad. If you don’t love Chinese but someone begs you to come here you might seek solace in the salad bar and made-to-order noodle bar.
