My wife and I ate here for the first time Saturday night. We walked in and noticed a very musty smell in the restaurant. Also, We were surprised the place was dead for a Saturday night at 7:00. We started out with the tots fried in duck fat. They were good. Pretty much all down hill from there. My order was wrong, my burger well done instead of medium and my wife’s sandwich was not good either(philly). Our house chips were bland. A friend recommended this place to us but we will not be back.

LOVED the minter cheese burger!!! Food is great and atmosphere is nice, like an old Irish pub. Live Irish music on Sunday night. Parking availability is fairly good.

Parking: There are a few spots out front that are metered. There are a few lots nearby that you have to pay to park. Service: Very good service. Our waiter was smart, nice, and helped us efficiently which was nice because the previous night at a different place we had horrible service. Food: I tried a few dishes here and enjoyed them all. The irish cheese dip, the nachos, and a sandwich. All good. overall experience: A. I’d come back. It’s big inside, multi-level, with pool tables, darts, TV’s, it’s a great place to hang out, drink, and eat snacks.

The décor is my favorite aspect of the place(with the exception of the bathrooms). It reminds me of a roomier, gentler New Orleans’ House of Blues than a pub. The drinks are as they should be– simple and strong and not silly like the GummiBears or whatnot that other girls might prefer. Try to drop by when there’s a live band for a great experience. I’ve been to few Meetup groups here, and it is a great venue for that too. Oh yeah, I almost forgot the food. Decent selection and taste, for after work hours or a midday meal. I’ve always had good service from the staff, even during one of those massive Meetups.

Excellent food and service. Stopped by for an early dinner while at a dance competition. I ordered the tater tots, Irish potato soup, and herders pie. Everything was very good. Also many older reviews mentioned it was a smoking allowed place, but it no longer is. Very nice restaurant

Velvet an I began our St Patty’s day week with a stop at Chattanooga’s best Irish Pub, the Honest Pint. Velvet started with the Dubliner. Like a Manhattan. I coming back from an extended workcation in Hawaii went with the Mai Tai. Both drinks were good but on the small side. Velvet switched to the Malachi, a house red beer. She liked it but not as well as Killian’s. The Irish beer cheese is over the top good. I just wish they didn’t mic the soda bread. We also had the boneless Spicy Thai wings. Good but could have been hotter. The atmosphere is great but they have succumbed to the PC revolution and the whole place is non smoking. Liked it better before with both smoking and non smoking areas. I even brought a good cigar all for naught.

We had Chicken & Waffles! Absolutely love it! Go to the bar and see Ashlyn! She’s a cool girl! Love the food and the atmosphere. Ask for a loaded mimosa if you really want to start your day out right!

First things first: this is not a pub, it’s a pub-themed restaurant. The place is HUGE, with 3 different dining areas downstairs, along with 2nd floor seating from what I understand. No pub is that large. That said, the atmosphere is just okay — I was really expecting a pub experience similar to an actual pub in Athens, GA, that I frequent called The Royal Peasant — but it just wasn’t that. Our server was hella busy and didn’t seem very patient with my Finnish partner who should couldn’t always understand and who had questions about the menu. Our food and drinks did come out quickly though. We had the Irish Cheese Dip and Bonny Scots as appetizers and they were fantastic. Generous portions and delicious soda bread. I had the New Pint Dip as my entrée, which is basically a French Dip sandwich though they do say that it features«stout jus». It was good, trust me, and only $ 10! My partner had the steak boxty, which was two pancakes with steak, veggies, and cheese between them. It was extremely good: hearty, rich, savory, and the portion was HUGE. It came with a side — he had the vinegar greens but didn’t love them — but this dish is so big it really doesn’t need a side item. My side was the duck fat tater tots, which were just fine. I don’t see what the big deal is with duck fat tots. So yeah, the food was good though not necessarily spectacular and the place didn’t feel like a pub at all. It just felt like a pub themed-restaurant that’s really popular with locals.

Good food, decent prices and tasty. Had pool tables and other games. Pool games were cheap. Open space and not that loud. Service was friendly. I ordered a sausage boxty. I would recommend it. The rue me had a nice amount of corn beef on it.

There is a point in the night when this place is a four, but sober, in the light of day isn’t one of them. I hate to give it a three and not a four, but don’t hate it enough to change it. The real issue is the food. The service is great. The music is great. And I love that it is non smoking. BUT the food is just average. Most of it seems to be deep friend out of a bag, even if it isn’t. A few bites of food and sauces are good, but not enough to be an overall success. Hate me if you want, but this place is no four.

Now that this place is smoke-free they get four stars! The food is still decent, their beer selection is still OK, but I’ve recently been working my way down their whiskey menu and it’s quite awesome. The rapey bathrooms downstairs were recently given a lighting update, too, so they’re not quite as scary. Hooray!

The honest pint’s a cool spot just off of MLK in downtown. Parking isn’t free(meter parking from Mon-Saturday 8a-6p) The atmosphere is very pub-like — a 3 floor interior with loads of seating(I’ve never seen people on the upper levels on my visits) and loads of wood(wooden door ceiling, wooden stairs, etc etc). The establishment is non-smoking, but the wood has done a very good job of soaking up the smoke smell from years prior — so there is a tabaco smell to the place still now. There are a few TVs throughout the place — so you’re not going to miss out on sports when here. Service has been nice on my visits — friendly staff and pretty quick. As for the foods — The burgers are good here — nice, juicy — definitely suggest the burger with a fried egg and bacon! Tots are great too — a must as an add-on. As for the wings — for me they were a bit too fatty/grissly, so I probably will try other appetizers next time. Aside from the fat texture of the wings, the actual flavors they use are nice/interesting. Overall — I can’t wait to go back, but probably won’t be on my «wings places» list.

This is a great place to go for a few drinks, especially during happy hour. They run an Irish happy hour from 4 – 7, which includes $ 2.50 Guinness, smithwicks, and magners, as well as $ 1 off Irish whiskey. The bartenders are great and really know what they are doing. The homemade smoked bitters are awesome.

The Honest Pint is now smoke-free. That’s right, it’s smoke-free. Now that it’s smoke-free, it’s one of my favorite places in Chattanooga. The interior is beautiful, yet it still has the rough aesthetic of an Irish pub. The staff is attentive and friendly. They have live music a few nights a week, and they have pub trivia on Sundays. The Honest Pint has a decent beer selection and great pub food. My friend ordered the BELT(Bacon, Egg, Lettuce & Tomato) and I ordered the portobello sandwich. We split the fried pimiento cheese appetizer. Everything was delicious(especially the appetizer). I’m from Philadelphia, where there are ton of Irish pubs. There aren’t many Irish pubs in Chattanooga, but Honest Pint makes up for the lack.

The Honest Pint was your typical smoky neighborhood Irish pub. Nothing overly ornate or fancy — just a bar, a few pool tables, a stage for live entertainment(not in use on our visit), and several patrons throwing back brews, smoking cigarettes or cigars, and noshing on pub grub. The wife and I were drinking snakebites(Yuengling and cider, here) and munching on tater tots with curried ketchup and sriracha mayo. Oh, and buffa-que wings. Like I said, brews and grub. It was good grub. Had I been there for a meal, there were a number of intriguing menu items that would’ve been calling to me. Perhaps their«This Burger is the Jam Burger» or any of their boxties. While we are non-smokers and are normally put off by smoking, the non-smoking section was just way too disconnected from the rest of the pub and had absolutely no appreciable ambiance to speak of. So we tolerated the smokiness of the main area. I guess that we should’ve expected that with it being a pub and all.

I am a fan of the Honest Pint. Love the big space, old building. The bar has lots of cool big round tables. It definitely has the feel of a pub, even down to the narrow stairway that leads to the bathrooms down in the basement. Very pub-like from my experience in England. The food is good. The tots with the different dipping sauces are yum. I’ve had the corned beef and it was good. This time I got the Herder, like a Shepherd’s pie but not. I got it to go so I can’t speak for the presentation. The sauce is very rich. Love the mixture of beef and lamb. Could have used more veggies. Just had sauce with meat and mashed potatoes. Not sure if something was missing. The main part of the bar which is 3 stories, is smoking friendly. I will say that as a non-smoker, it’s not too bad. I’ve been in worse smelling places. They do a pretty good job of ventilating the room. There is a small non-smoking section to eat in the back but totally closed off from everything and you just don’t get the vibe there. They have a stage and live music often.

A friend wanted to go to HP for dinner the other day– he wanted meat, so… that was ok by me. It was waaaay more than ok after we ordered the pimento cheese fritters. Three fritters of lightly fried homemade pimento cheese, served over a drizzle of a couple kinds of sauces(one spicy). Please get these. Just, do. Rich but not overly rich and perfect for a shared app(I wouldn’t suggest eating all three yourself, though– then you’d venture into overly rich territory). He got one of the meat plates and it was my first time trying kielbasa. Pretty darn yummy. I forget what the other(three) meats were but he devoured it all. I got their version of a French dip– well seasoned and cooked meat, and tasty sautéed mushrooms(I love) and onions; good bread but a little on the thick side if that bugs you. Got a side of both tots(they might well be from Sysco but potato/potahto, they were perfectly crispy and delicious) as well as green beans. The beans were good and a little garlicky but a bit too oily for me. For the record, this is a big sandwich so especially with two sides this is meant for someone really hungry, sharing, or enjoys leftovers. So I say this — go, eat cheese and meat. Enjoy.

I’m sure this is typically a place for drinking more than it is for eating dinner, but I still liked coming here. There being a non-smoking section of it is a nice touch, though it feels pretty disconnected from the rest of the place but what can you do. If you like hoppy beers you are not going to find much on their draft list, but drink something from that anyway, the prices are waaaaaay too good to be concerned about that, haha. I ended up having two bottles of something and I wish I had gone with cider instead. We had their tater tots for an appetizer and two of us ordered them as a side so that we could keep using the dipping sauces. You get ketchup, a sriracha mayo, and a smoked aioli. I was hoping the aioli would be a bit different than what it was, but the sriracha mayo was hands down our favorite. I got the pulled pork boxty. This thing was ridiculous, and I ate it all, and it hurt, but my stomach was so happy. If you’ve never had a boxty, it’s like a potato pancake meets a quesadilla. They are fabulous. The pulled pork boxty has a ton of meat on it, along with a buffalo BBQ sauce, which was awesome, and pimiento cheese. I could have used a bit more cheese, but I am not going to really hold that against them because there was so much pork. And the thing was SOGOOD. I could have also just drank that BBQ sauce. I definitely want to come back here to drink whenever I’m in town long enough for that to be possible. Having a couple beers and having some of their wings sounds like an A+ plan one of these days.
