Hair Of the Dog Pub

Classic local pub with pretty good food. Get either of the rolls and you won’t be disappointed. Beer selection isn’t bad and it’s always nice to hang out on the porch right downtown when the weather is nice!

Visited this place while I was in town for business last week. Food was amazing and fast. Bartenders were incredible. Only problem was the restaurant was very smoky. If you can deal with the smoke I would definitely recommend. They even have a dumb-​waiter to serve drinks upstairs if you want to play pool or darts.

I never understood why a place that serves food stops serving food 30 minutes before they close. Seems like a non-​revenue generating practice. Every order counts especially a $ 100 potential food togo order if not more. Guess ill keep the unspoken food service hours in mind for next time.

Hair of the dog has a great atmosphere, and it’s a nice place to sit and have a beer and people watch. I wouldn’t recommend ordering any entrees though, because that is not where they put their effort into. It tastes so plain, like middle school cafeteria food.
We’d go back, if only for beers and maybe a big pretzel appetizer, but we’d eat somewhere else.

Positives: hush puppies were pretty delicious and a huge selection of beer, especially if you’re a fan of seasonals.
Negatives: service was «meh» at best, and they don’t have much of a selection of liquor, and don’t have a cocktail or wine list.

Cool old classic pub vibe. Billiards, darts, great if you’re a smoker. Outdoor seating if you prefer fresh air. Nice alternative to the corporate hipster bars

Tony and I try to come here when we are in Chatty but this is a 21 and up establishment because they allow smoking inside. So, when Noël is with us we can’t stop here but the atmosphere and food is killer here. Highly recommend.
For a bar and bar style food, I have never had a bad meal here…
Today we had eaten earlier at Luipi’s Pizza Pie a few blocks over, but we stopped here on our way to Northside to grab a drink and I just had to taste the ROCK SHRIMP HUSHPUPPIES so Tony and I opted to split them. They are served 6 to a serving with some Cajun Remoulade. that is KILLER… I could put that on every sandwich and use for dipping with anything… delicious!!!
Tony had to have one of their tshirts… so not bad for $ 28 …it was tshirt material but a hoodie, grey with Hair of the Dog Logo… very nice !!!
Can’t wait to eat there again!!!

Ask for Mehgan and have a good time. It’s a little smokey for my taste but a great place to chill for a while.

Pretty good, beer is cold and the food is delicious! The only thing negative I would say are there were quite a few flys buzzing around which sometimes they can’t control with the front door opening in and out a lot. They do need a few more tvs.

Good beer selection. Which is what you go here for, their house cocktails are terrible and they only have the basics in spirits. Plenty of space and TVs. Great for playing darts.

I met my ex-​wife here in 2006, my first night in Chattanooga. It was a wonderful night. Since then, I have fallen in love with the city and I have seen the Hair and the town evolve, mostly for the good. This bar is a last resort and a first stop. One of the last to close at night and it may have the cheapest well drinks in town. Still friends with the ex and still love this now Chatt. staple. Beer cheese soup makes a great dip for the pretzels. You will smell like smoke when you leave which may just be nostalgic for the out of towner who can’t smoke and drink back home.

It’s tight. Cool place to chill with my Juggalos and pontifcate on matters of period sex and the stock market. It is a fantastic place to meet your future ex-​girlfriend or boyfriend. Sometimes I find myself here and don’t quite remember the trail. Basically, this is the place where I slam the last few brews of the night and hit on some hot bartenders. Definitely come here if you like Insane Clown Posse, or if you are about to pass out. It’s cool.

Love the Beer Cheese Soup! The staff is always courteous and helpful. I’m not a big beer drinker and they are always helpful when I can’t decide. The food is great! Another must try is Babe the Blue Ox. You can play darts and pool or sit on the back deck. Go! You won’t be disappointed.

Great food, cold beer. Best little pub in town! Jason is one of my favorites. He’s always super attentive without being obnoxious… you know the type of server I’m talking about haha! Come down for the best weekly special menu in Chattanooga and pint night on Tuesdays!

The food is really good. The drinks tend to be weak and watered down the more you order. Upstairs is fun to hang out with the pool table, the darts and the jukebox with a great view of downtown. My girlfriend and I have been asked to leave more than once because the management didn’t agree with our «lifestyle choices». We never did one thing out of line, or even to give the hint of our «lifestyle choice». It was assumed, we were judged, and essentially shamed. Because it happened more than once, even though we love the food and the vibe, we had to stop going.

Good beer selection. Playing could be better, bangers’n’mash could have used more mash. Good though

If you like the smell of cigarette smoke, you’ll love this bad knock-​off of a British pub.

Friendly and knowledgeable staff. Plenty of tables even though there were a good amount of people there. I didn’t check out the patio, just the inside. I probably should have, because I left reeking of cig smoke. BLAH! Met some guys from out of town that ordered food and it looked pretty good.

Small British pub with tons of stickers on things. YAY I LOVE STICKAARS! Surprisingly — or not — their stickers include a Save WRAS sticker from ATL!!!
The beer cheese soup. Is. Amazing. I could eat that like every day. Well, yes, I am a soup lover, but you should not take this any less seriously. Beer cheese soup is SERIOUS business.
You can get a cup, a bowl, or as a side to your pretzels. GET THEM EACH! I swear. Yes I liked it so much as my pretzel dip, I bought a cup of it to eat as well. I almost forgot to mention the pretzels. They were tasty!
The waitress was a cute tatt’d chick with a nose ring. She had on a rad girly — sized Hair of the Dog tee shirt that looked like the Vegas sign. I wanted to buy one but she said they hadn’t sold girly tees for a long time. Womp womp. :(
Anyway, we also tried the buffalo chicken spring rolls. REALLY good but a bit spicy for my wussy taste! If you like spicy-​ish, buffalo flavor or chicken in a spring roll you will dig this.
There seems to be a second floor but I did not experience that. The bathroom was pretty clean for a dive bar and the hallway it’s in has a ton of music posters on it.
Only drawback is that I think they allow smoking so it’s a little ciggarette-​y smelling.
But their soup listing says this:

So I am down. I’d return for sure!

This is an English (British) Pub. So, you can get English food here of all sorts and other etc. Having a great fun night with friends. I usually get fish and chips and that’s what I got tonight. The fish is delicate but delicious. The fries that go with it go great with ketchup on them. I will take some pictures.
Anyway, customer service was fast as I got waited on about one minute after walking in the door. How great is that.
