The Bread Basket

Hand washing is not a priority here. Employees work the register and immediately hand out cookies. The little white paper that’s used to hand out cookies in the front of the store is not used in the back… unwashed hands are. Also, the cakes are not baked fresh daily… some are delivered each morning and some are pulled straight from a fridge in the back. If you ask an employee if your cake was made fresh today… you will be told what you want to hear. Sorry.

You had me at «We pour butter over it before we use it.» Bread Basket is not the place to go if you’re trying to live right, but if you love bread, sweets and overall goodness, please stop by! Freshly baked bread, muffins, pastries, cookies, brownies and cakes galore. I’ve tried at least one item in every category and they’re always fresh and soft. The employees are darlings! Smiles all day long. Today the young lady gave me an excellent tip: «If you microwave the danish for about 20 seconds…» Yes, ma’am! And she was right. (They give samples for days, btw)
Bread Basket is a great place to indulge in a treat that you don’t deserve ;) (I’ll get back on the treadmill tomorrow… maybe)

By far the best bakery EVER!!! The customer service is Outstanding… Extremely welcoming. Please go see Sandy at the East Brainerd Rd. location. This place will make you cheat on any resolution you have set. I took a box of cookies & brownies to my daughter’s basketball game for the team. Once the parents started to sample I barely had enough left for the basketball team! If you don’t try it you are cheating yourself!

I love what the Bread Basket bakes but had an extremely negative experience at the East Brainerd location this morning when the manager of the store scolded me for bringing my service dog that is being trained, into the store. She was extremely abrasive and told me that I was to never bring the service dog back. Seems like those employees need to brush up on their ADA laws so they don’t make anyone else as uncomfortable as they made me. I suffer from Epilepsy and certainly didn’t expect to be discriminated against while picking up a loaf of bread. The dog is in training and therefore my service dog is with me at all times. Will NOT be returning.

This is a place we tend to overlook. Went in there today after picking up cleaning. What a great bakery. For what it does, the best in town. It’s a little different product than another favorite, Chatta-​Cakes.
They were sampling some items and a very nice young lady introduced me to each one and even told me which samples to take (ones with the most icing, etc.). She was hilarious. They had an apple muffin that I believe may be a seasonal item. They make their own applesauce and start from there. I don’t have the words to describe how good it was. I got one of those and a cream cheese muffin, which was also great.
When you get a cupcake from here for $ 2.99 and consider that Gigi’s charged quite a bit more for their product that was junk with a mountain of bad icing on it, easy to see why Gigi’s went out of business.
You know you’re getting good baked goods when they are heavy! I told her, my bag is heavy! You sense that everything here is of the highest quality made with the best ingredients.
We won’t be overlooking the Bread Basket anymore.

Just simply put, everything is wonderful there. You can not go wrong. Everything is fresh and there are no shortcuts to doing something right. They understand.

In the world of bakeries this one is by far superior. As soon as I walked in I was greeted very pleasantly and was advised of the specials, samples available, etc. There was so much enthusiasm I thought the place just opened and they were trying to get business. They’ve been around at this location 20 years! While one person was explaining the various goodies they had there were 5 or 6 more people that came in. I never felt rushed or anything. Just really personalized superior service.
Everything in the place looked awesome and the samples I tried were delicious. I ordered a cinnamon role and it was totally fantastic. It tasted fresh and full of flavor.
The don’t bake at this location. They bake at the Signal Mountain location and then deliver to this location.
There’s no doubt that I’ll visit again!

I don’t want to give this place 5 stars because I don’t want the secret to get out, but their cream cheese muffins are to die for. The muffins are top notch, the cakes are really good, the cookies are just mediocre though. They have lots of sales and special days where there are deep discounts on food. There are three total locations in Chattanooga.

The sourdough loaves are addictive. The strawberry cake is to die for! The cream cheese and blueberry breakfast pastries are positively sinful. Everything at the bread basket is yummy!

If you are the sort of bread lover who’d rather drive in search of a good fresh loaf instead of grabbing the first one you find down the aisle, this place is for you: it is just amazing!
