Perfection! Onion gruyère quiche, dressed salad, oolong tea, cappuccino and almond shortbread cookies. And Ben Gable!

I really like this place. The two owners could not possibly be nicer, and the food is delightful. Love that you can see into the super clean kitchen where things are being prepared with great care. Love the light filled atmosphere, and it’s great to meet friends here. BGs is a welcome addition to the village. The tables space is a bit tight– getting a table can be problematic during busy times, so you may have to get creative about squeezing in somewhere. In some ways however, that adds to the adventuresome friendliness of a small village eatery. The outdoor tables(during warm weather) are wonderful with a view of the Village Hall and the circle end of Main Street. The sun will warm you on chilly mornings if you are brave. ;) One wish– at the outdoor tables one customer’s very cute little dog(who seems to be there a lot) is allowed to wander about off leash. He makes his ’rounds’ every ten minutes, lifting his leg to dribble on the porch support posts and flower urns in the seating area… while his owners pay no attention. It’s no fun to smell fresh dog pee wafting up a few feet from us while we’re eating. Regardless of size or cuteness, dogs should be kept right at their owner’s table, on a short leash. The coffee and espresso here at BGs is very good, and the biscuits are absolute perfection. The fresh fruit/yogurt/honey/cinnammon is refreshing. One thing would be on my wish list– maybe just one added ‘breakfast-y’ morning egg choice on the menu that’s not fancy– say plain scrambled eggs with toasted baguette? I’m not always up for a big quiche with salad, or Croque Madame. Note: on Sundays they do offer a truly wonderful egg/sausage/potato plate– I wish they offered it both Saturday and Sunday! Over all Ben Gables is just terrific and deserves its 5 star rating. I’m so glad they are here and it’s always a TREAT to go there! :)

Delicious coffees, friendly service and always a copy of the NY Times available. Try the Breakfast Cake, too!

This was a most memorable and lovely stop in our way back to RI. The atmosphere was friendly and attractive as well as comfortable and clean. The food was great– and if we are ever in the area we will definitely stop in here again(and again). I would even venture to say we’d even detour to stop here again! Well worth the 4 plus star rating!

Stopped by on a snowy day with a friend for their quiche and was blown away. We had one spinach and one cauliflower and both were to die for. The ambiance is very warm and welcoming and the Stumptown coffee and my friends oolong tea were perfect accompaniments. We even took some quiche for home after our lunch. We will definitely be back!

Wow! Ben and Michael aim to please. The menu is awesome… the fennel salami sandwich is the bomb. The quiches rock. Had the cauliflower curry soup earlier today. Flawless. Visiting from Miami. Will be back.

I brought my kids here on the way to the supermarket for ac quick breakfast. I had an amazing ham and Gruyère quiche and my kids each had a piece if olive oil lemon blueberry cake. Everything was wonderful but it would be great if the breakfast menu had more selections. Although my kids enjoyed their breakfast it is definitely not kid friendly. This is a nice new addition to the community.

Love this place. Whether I sit alone, and read their complimentary Times, while enjoying one of there amazing biscuits, or here with friends indulging in their freakin’ awesome quiches, you can’t go wrong with this place. I have told many people that if I had a mere two dollars on me, my first stop would be for a bengable biscuit. Made with the best butter money can buy, with a local jam and even more butter on the side, it’s one of my all time favorite snacks. Some other highlights of the menu include: the roasted red pepper goat cheese sandwich! and… just about everything. All things considered, this place rocks.

What a great addition to an already cute town! We pass through Chatham about once a month on the way to visit family and are happy to have found this spot. The quiche is delicious, Stump Town coffee keeps my husband happy, the pastries are lovely, and the welcome is friendly. Thankful to have found this cute little place!

Ben Savories is delicious in every way. The interior is stylish and wonderfully inviting, the owners couldn’t be nicer, and the food and coffee are delicious every single time! From the quiche to the cappuccino, salads to soups-you can’t go wrong! A little background: From Brooklyn to the Berkshires… benGABLEsavories located in historic Chatham New York, takes full advantage of all that the Hudson Valley has to offer. Nestled between the Berkshire and Catskill Mountains, and the nearby Hudson River, the area has a long history of farming going back centuries. Our quiche & savory pastries are hand-made in small batches using seasonal produce with a focus on cheeses, milk, cream and eggs from nearby producers. The pastry crusts are prepared with Bob’s Red Mill flours, premium butter and sometimes enriched with olive oil, herbs & cheeses. Our savories can be served warm or at room temperature and are fantastic as a light meal alongside a green salad or as a side-dish to grilled meats or fish. The café will offer a selection of sandwiches, soups and salads in addition to our quiche & savory pastries. We’ll also have a little something to satisfy your sweet-tooth! In the future, you can look forward to a tasty selection of provisions to round out your meals at home.
