I have been a patient at this location for many years and at least two name changes. As the practice has grown the service has decreased. Now when you call to make an appointment the first question is, «What is your insurance?» Not«What is your name?» or even«Are you a returning patient?» When you arrive you can be sure to wait, and wait, and then be moved to an internal waiting room after you have been rushed through the first test that might be in the HALL, not in an examination room. That is where you will be given a form to sign acknowledging the additional $ 115 to $ 300 for a contacts lens fitting. You will wait again, perhaps for another 20 minutes. The optometrist will apologize for the wait, and will be as nice as can be. After your exam you will be led to the hard-sell salesman who assures you his computer has a database that lists all online contacts providers and he will price match. Then you will be asked for a credit card without seeing an itemized bill. But even if you were given the bill you wouldn’t be able to read it because your eyes are dilated. Oh, you’d rather have the fancy non-dilation check for glaucoma? Sorry, that’s another $ 39, not covered by insurance. Two hours after your appointment time you’ll stagger into the sunlight, feeling like you overpaid and wasted a good portion of that time waiting to overpay. You will also have to come back to get all the paperwork your insurance company requires, and you might have to bribe someone to get a copy of your prescription.

BEST eye exam EVER!!! And I’ve been wearing glasses/contacts since I was 6yo! Dr. Ahua was extremely impressive!

I cleared costing with the front desk BEFORE being seen. I didn’t have the money for additional costing out side of my co-pay. After clearing everything under my co-pay, the exam was done and I went to check out. The checkout person’s(which I had to wait 30 minutes for) pricing did not match what the front desk said and was $ 120 more than the co-pay I expected. I explained I had already confirmed cost with the front desk. She said«oh the nurse should have told you» and then said«well you would have paid $ 500 if you didn’t have insurance.» as if that fixed anything. I then had to pay $ 120 more that my co-pay because no one would own up to neglect on either the front desk or nurse’s part. I also never received a copy of my prescription, which no one can still explain to me. After contacting and leaving voicemails for customer service for TWOMONTHS to file a complaint, I finally got an email back. They refuse to do anything to fix the situation. Dr.‘s were nice, but location was extremely crowded and busy which probably is the reason my pricing was not correct. I would suggest going somewhere where they actually take time with you as a patient, and less like a dollar sign.

Staff members were incredibly nice and helpful. I had not planned on purchasing my eyewear on location but the representative I met with was very knowledgeable and provided a great overview of product options. I have to say that this was one of the most positive«shopping» experiences ever. And the best part? I can see the world clearly again.

So much fun in this place! Like any business, ups and downs can and do happen. As a patient and employee, I have the benefit of experience on both sides of the table. We strive for patient excellence, every day, for our patients, both from our community and our own team. Come see me, I get it all, good-bad-and everything in between! Reading through some of these other reviews, I am simply proud so many others have good experiences in our office, THANKYOUALLFORSUCHKINDWORDS!!!

Based on my previous experience everything was taken care of. Customer service worked with me and my issues are gone now. They do have convenient hours for business and turn around time is pretty quick.

These folks are 100% OK. Have been fitted perfectly with contacts correcting astigmatism for years. Highly recommend!

Great staff and hours. I only wish they had a little larger assortment of frames or at least more information of the other colors available in the frames they have for try on.

I dread going to the eye doctor. I’ve had more visits to the dentist than the eye doctor and I need glasses. I always get a migraine when I have my eyes dilated and they now have a new technology that, if everything is alright, they can take a snapshot of your eye and view it that way. Dr. Ahua is simply amazing, so smart and you can tell she really likes her job. She explained everything she was doing and then took the time to review all the results. I had to change eye doctors for insurance reasons and really wasn’t looking forward to going to a new place; but, what a bit of good luck for me to find this office. I was seen right away, actually a bit early. Everyone so nice and friendly. I had a blast picking out new frames and can’t wait to see things again.

Had an appt with Dr. Ward last week and he was fabulous. Friendly, warm, explained everything to me. Appointment was on-time. All of the staff was very nice, helpful. I picked out a new pair of glasses, placed my order and left. The following Monday I was called and told the glasses I picked out were discontinued but I could come back and pick out something else. I went back today and met the most helpful woman by the name of Delia. I explained to her that I was told my glasses were discontinued, that I was really disappointed because I really liked them. I asked if they could sell me the«floor model». She took the time to call the other warehouses/locations — she called more than one — and asked them to check their inventory to see if anyone had a pair of these left. Sure enough, someone did. They are now being shipped to my location. I’m thrilled. She really went above and beyond — excellent customer service. Four out of five stars, simply because as someone else said — glasses are quite pricey, though I know that is any eye doctor office, not just here.

As far as the staff in this office they are simply the most amazing and helpful people there. They make the experience great and the wait time was really nonexistent. They have the most flexible and convenient hours with hours extending into late afternoon, and even open on Saturdays. My doctor was Dr. Ahua and she was wonderful. She was very thorough, easy to talk to, and yet very professional. The only reason I’m providing this office a 4⁄5 stars is simply the price of the frames. I just wish they provided more affordable frames and lenses that don’t lose their style for individuals who do not have eye care insurance. I’m totally in love with my Ray Ban frames and Crizal lenses don’t get me wrong but I’m lucky enough to have health insurance that pays for most of it. Without it I would not have been able to cover my almost $ 700 annual visit plus new glasses.

I went to the Randolph location for an eye exam recently for a late morning appointment. The atmosphere was a little cramped and very busy. I waited about 10 minutes beyond my appointment time before I was seen by the technician. While outwardly friendly, she rushed me through the initial tests. Dr. Ward, by contrast, took his time, explained everything he was doing and discussed my vision issues with me. He also showed and explained the computer image of the photo they took of my retina. When I was escorted back to the optician she asked me if I had looked at frames, without any reference to my new prescription. When I asked her to compare my new prescription to my old one, she admitted there wasn’t much difference. Overall, one can tell MyEyeDr is a chain that emphasizes getting the customer(I intentionally say customer, rather than patient) in and out, and selling eye wear. Because of Dr. Ward, I’m confident the eye exam was competent. But, as some states require by law, I would prefer that the optometrist and optician businesses be kept separate in NC.

I recently had an eye exam by Dr. Ahua – she was awesome. I had 3 sets of lenses made at the Randolph Road office from her prescription and they turned out great. Andrew really took the time and initiative to measure and make sure the lenses were going to be right. These are the best lenses I’ve ever had… and I’m very picky about my vision. Thank you Dr. Ahua and Andrew.

I went to the Independence location for my exam and their selection of frames was limited so I came to the Randolph location. Everyone was friendly and helpful from the moment I walked in. They have a great selection of designer brands and are truthful with their opinions, overall great experience!

This place was a lifesaver! I was traveling to Charlotte and my contact ripped as soon as I landed. I immediately looked them up to see if they could provide me a trial pair. They helped me with two fresh contacts and a new case and solution. I cannot express how grateful I was to have their help and how nice and accommodating they were!
