Wonderful wonderful food. We had a lovely time and I highly recommend it. I got the sense the staff was a bit new and I think that part of the experience will improve with time however all the staff were very friendly and accommodating.

Fantastic food and great ambience are the positives. However poor service and exorbitant prices are the cons of this place. Went here on a Monday night when it was practically empty. However the waiters were unattentive and didn’t seem to care. The couscous was great and seemed authentic. If you can do with long waits and poor service then the food is certainly worth it.

Excellent food, bad service. Basically empty right now and have been waiting 40 minutes for water. Chicken B’stilla was very good, on the small side. Tea wasn’t strong enough for me and not hot, tasted watered down. Duck breast was very good. Very bad service and definitely not worth the drive. If you order anything such as a side expect to have to ask for it at least two more times, and water takes about 4 times. No real bread, just sweet stuff and soggy pita. Also this is coming from a Morrocan.

I make a point of trying new restaurants and meeting other belly dancers, so I came to Tangierino on a lark when I was visiting Boston in December. This place is hands-down the most beautifully decorated Moroccan restaurant I have ever seen. The couscous was delicious, the staff was friendly, and the dancer was both skilled and personable.(I’m a nonsmoker, so I can’t speak to the hookah.) If I lived in the area, I would be a regular. The space itself is partitioned into several different themed rooms, which makes it cosy for small or medium-sized parties. The hookah room downstairs is a lot more casual and open, and less hazy than I would have expected.

Was looking for a Hookah place on a Saturday evening with friends. Decided to go here. The waitress at the door were very nice and friendly. We got a table for the 6 of us. Ordered 3 hookahs, becoz I think on Saturday you have to order one hookah for 2 ppl. The hookahs were not expensive like 30 a piece, 40 if you want a blend. We ordered grape, blue mist and strawberry/mango blend. Got a milk add on for blue mist. Blue mist was our favorite, very smooth. Also ordered the wing appetizer, was very well done, both in taste and presentation. We also witnessed the belly dancing which was a treat. The whole vibe of the place is very soothing and little on the upscale and trendy type. All in all a good find if we ever needed to go to a hookah bar.

Had a great meal at Tangierino, we’d been a bunch of times. My review is based on after dinner… We paid the bill & forgot our credit card IN the bill binder. We realized it early the next morning. Low & behold, SOMEONE was using our card & had been since the night before. When the restaurant opened, I phoned the manager. I couldn’t have been nicer, told him how great everything was, but unfortunately someone stole our credit card RIGHT after dinner. He asked a bunch of questions and promised an update… never heard back. I’d like to think it wasn’t an employee… we loved our waitress. That said, the card wasn’t on the table for anyone to grab, it was in the binder with the signed bill. Truth be told, I don’t know what happened but SOMEONE stole it. So ok, shit happens, but there is a way to make it up to customers. Promising to call back then ignoring me — isn’t what I had in mind. Long story short — sad to take Tangierino out of the rotation.

This is the first time I tried Moroccan food and I absolutely loved it! The décor was gorgeous, loved the tapestries in the restaurant. Our waiter(who is Moroccan) recommended some dishes for us to try and they did not disappoint! Very romantic ambiance too.

As a fellow hooka loving middle-eastern…this place SUCKS if your going just for hooka! — They don’t know how to make a hooka. We order three different hooka’s all tasted burnt; super strong that made us constantly cough; I don’t even think they ever wash their hooka’s properly! We had to go back and forth 4 times with the waitress to finally have the hooka’s changed and fixed. So over-priced for the crap quality hooka they provide!

I visited this place 10 years ago and never forgot the amazing Lamb and couscous. I have found that time and nostalgia tend to build up memories of great meals into something that is hard to live up to. So when my wife and I decided to head here for a date night last Saturday, I was nervous it would not live up to the expectations. Well it was as amazing as I remembered. My wife and I had the 4 Layer Tuna Tartar as an app, followed by the Couscous Royal and Sultan’s Kadra. The Tuna tartar was fresh and delicious. Good sized and a good lighter fare that left space for what we came here for the lamb. I have tried lamb at many restaurants and am usually underwhelmed. The lamb on both plates was really exquisite. Tender, juicy, perfectly spiced. My wifes Sultan Lam was beautifully charred on the outside but meduim rare in the chop, really perfectly cooked. The Lamb shank in my Couscous royal was equally tasty and so tender it fell off the bone. Both my wife and I felt that our lamb was superior, and the reason for that is the flavor of each of our lamb was perfectly matched to the entire dish it came with. Hers came with a perfectly crisped eggplant and cheese stack topped with apricots and figs that was delicious. My Couscous Royale had an amazing side of couscous topped with root vegetables. The couscous was moist and had obviously been made in the broth of the root vegetables that it was topped with as it had a rich flavor to it. I found myself taking smaller and smaller bites as I consumed it in an attempt to make it last longer. The Spiced Merguez(a spiced lamb sausage covered in phyllo dough.) was excellent, complemented the rest of the dish well. Any of these three component would have been strong enough to carry the dish, but together they really were amazing. We had a carafe of sangria to drink. It was a rather dry sangria and got watered down once poured into the cups full of ice that came along with it. Once we took the ice out of the equation it was much better and I would recommend using as little ice as possible if you get it. We had some delicious green tea with fresh mint and honey to end the meal. It was a great conclusion to a wonderful evening. We ended up taking some baklava home. I like my baklava sweeter, but it was good quality Baklava. If you get some and like it sweet I would suggest you ask for some extra honey on it. I would highly recommend this place and hope to go back in the next could of months with some of our foodie friends

Dinner was unbelievable! My girlfriend and I came here looking for an enjoyable meal in a relaxing atmosphere and Tangierino’s delivered. Belly dancer was a little pushy when we first got there, but she had those cool bell things on her hands. We started off with a cocktail each and half a dozen oysters, I got the Rose of Taza and my girlfriend got The Monument. Both fantastic cocktails and went perfectly with our oysters. For dinner I got the roasted duck breast and my girlfriend got the crispy chicken dish with a bottle of Chandon Rosé to share. THEDUCKISLIFECHANGING. Chicken was pretty dope too. Waitstaff was awesome, I dropped my keys on the way out and they were nice enough to call me. Only thing that sucked is I couldn’t bring my bottle of wine downstairs with me after dinner, I think that would have convinced us to check out Koullshi.

I wanted to love it here, but I just can’t! I was planning to give 3 stars, but when the description for a 2-star review was«Meh. I’ve experienced better.» that basically sums up my feelings perfectly, so 2 it is! The restaurant is very pretty, but it is trying way way way too hard to be ‘Moroccan’. I have spent time throughout Morocco in most of the major cities and this place feels much more like the Morocco pavilion at Epcot Center in Disney World(which I have also spent time in) than the actual country. The food was fine, but it only slightly resembled the flavors that I remember from Marrakech and Fes. The problem with the food just being fine was with how incredibly expensive it is. It feels entirely overpriced, and when mint tea for 2 costs $ 14, I think we have a problem. The service was abrupt and lacking any personality whatsoever, there was no chit chat, barely any smiles from what I can remember, the feel of «are they done yet?» It is on a gorgeous street in Charlestown, right down from the monument, and I think parking would be a challenge, but I got lucky! Now, I said earlier that I have experienced better, and better in every single way is the ‘Moroccan Hospitality Restaurant’ in Somerville. Welcoming and joyous service, better tasting and more traditional food, better prices, and less overcompensation in the decorations make for a simply better experience. Thanks, and enjoy!

I went to Tangierino for my friend’s birthday party and we had a total of nine people. At first I was fascinated with the ambiance. From the temperature in the restaurant, the music and the belly dancers, you really feel like you’ve escaped to Morocco for the night. The food was great and I would be giving a much better review if it wasn’t for parts of the service. After dinner we told the waiter we wanted to continue our night by going to the hookah lounge downstairs and asked to be put on the wait list. He came back shortly and told us it would be a 40 minute wait. Considering it was a busy night that sounded reasonable and we paid the bill and waited. Fast forward 40 minutes, we go downstairs to see if our table is ready and we’re told it’ll be another 45 minutes. Eventually we decided it really wasn’t worth the wait and left.

I was very close to giving a better review of this place, but we left with a bad taste in our mouths. The overall ambiance looks nice for a date night or small parties. The area we sat in had spacious and curtained booths to give that private feel. However, this was not the most comfortable setup for eating as our knees were jammed up against the table. Our group of 4 started off with a dozen oysters to share, a good choice. My girlfriend ordered the couscous royal(lamb) and I ordered the special for that evening, a lemon chicken dish(I forget the name exactly, but see my picture attached). Both entrees were solid. Overall, we enjoyed the drinks, food, and experience, thought it was a bit overpriced. Immediately after finishing our meal, our server handed us the check. We decided to order more drinks and kept trying to get the attention of our waitress but she walked by multiple times, clearly avoiding eye contact. And yes we tipped her well. After a solid 20 minutes of our group sitting at the table and trying to flag down the staff, the manager came up to us and told us that we had to leave because guests«had been waiting for our table for an hour». For some perspective, we had drinks, appetizers, entrees, got the check, and were ignored for 20 minutes and we had only been there for a little over an hour, so I don’t see how this was possible. I understand that it was a busy Saturday night, but there are better ways to approach customers.

The rudest people. The weakest drinks. I’m surprised they don’t have a stopwatch to time you eat. They take the food away before you’re done. We got kicked out, but of course not until after we left the fat tip. Me, my boyfriend and our two friends were buzzed and giggling at the belly dancer, having a good time, and the short little manager came over and told us it was time to go. We wanted to order some more overpriced, underboozed drinks but I guess they were sick of our cute little faces. Also, having the table shorter than the chairs doesn’t make for easy eating.

The ambiance here is really top notch, so pretty and romantic. This would be a great date spot. The food is good but not spectacular. It was overly salted IMO, and not really special. However, it was reasonably good, so I would go back for the ambiance alone. The hookah lounge downstairs and small and a gift squeeze, but fun. The lounge downstairs is first come, first serve. The belly dancer the night I was there was meh. Not a native dancer, for sure, but whatever. It’s cutesy.

Extremely rude staff. I have been here in numerous occasions with a predominantly white crowd and also with a predominantly black/Haitian crowd. Guess who received better service here? Downright wrong that a party who made a reservation of 15+ was sent to a cold room in the back and the heat wasn’t turned up, nor was the fan vent turned off after multiple requests. Huge delays in service, orders were taken after 30 minutes, food was just ok. The décor is pretty and looks very Moroccan, but décor can’t save a restaurant. Never again.

Authentically Moroccan, authentically fun. A nice trendy restaurant offering fusion Moroccan cuisine. Of course the first thing you’ll notice is the gorgeous dining room with each sitting area having its individual canopy. The canopies kinda create a personal space yet are open to not make you feel isolated. The drinks options are plenty and the cocktails are very creative. Had the vodka with rose which was very refreshing and not too sugary. Food recommendations; the lamb chops with eggplants. It’s lamb chops with a special barbecue sauce along with two thick perfectly cooked eggplant slices. The meatiness along with crunchiness of the eggplants and the tanginess of the sauce all make a great combination. Second recommendation is the veggie platter. The humus and baba ghanoush go great with the special bread they serve. Later in the night there’s a belly dancer adding more fun and authenticity to the cuisine. They also have a bar area downstairs for a fun night post dinner. All in all its a great place for a family dinner or a fun night with friends.

I walked in to here today and was blown away by the beauty of the place. First of all, most of the seating makes you feel like you’re in an intimate palace. It’s great for a date night. Then, the menu. Few options, but AMAZING options. The menu is not overwhelming and is concentrated on the few dishes that they do best. You can also custom create your own dish. I trusted my gut and went with the chicken tagine with a side of asparagus. By far, the best meal I’ve had in Boston so far(past 5 weeks). The chicken was moist and the sauce that it’s in is savory. My side of asparagus was cooked to the perfect temperature and softness. Also, while I was eating, one of the head hosts noticed that I didn’t have bread to go along with my chicken and brought over some free bread with hummus and olive oil. Now that… care and attention… made my night 10x better. He wasn’t even my host, but his attention to detail made my meal THAT much better. They just did so many things right, I would highly encourage anyone to visit this place. I will be planning events here because they have so much to offer! Overall: Service — 100% Food — 100% Atmosphere — 100% P. S. — make sure you call in advance to see when the belly dancer is coming for some(free) entertainment. There’s also a cool hookah lounge in the basement and the belly dancer also performs there at night.

I am shocked to see this place only has 3.5 stars!!! What! The food, atmosphere and service was amazing. No it’s not a 3 Michelin star restaurant, but it completely satisfied all my needs; from sight to plate. First off, I went here on a date. I showed up a bit early and my friend got stuck in traffic so I ended up just waiting at a table while no one else was in the dining area. A nice woman by the name of Emmy, I believe, struck up a conversation with me and offered me to wash my hands in rose water. It was amazing! She was so nice and friendly, she made me feel better about waiting around for my friend. Secondly, the beer list is a little minimal but I ordered a French Kiss cocktail and it was amazing. Light, refreshing and not too intense for me. Once my friend arrived, we ordered the salmon dish and the lobster risotto dish. I have never tasted anything better than that lobster risotto! It was cooked perfectly and the lobster was juicy and there was a good amount! I tried the salmon, too and it was delicious! We killed those plates, needless to say. Finally, the service was very friendly and welcoming and overall we just had a great time and enjoyed the atmosphere as well. So cozy! I’d definitely come here again :) Oh and btw, parking is very limited but there is valet for $ 17. I’d suggest parking a street or two over and come before 6!

Made reservations on a Tuesday night and there really wasn’t a need. But they were very welcoming and the décor was beautiful. It was very nice for a date night out. Our waitress was very helpful, being my first time their was needed. We started with a lovely bottle of Pinot Noir. We agreed on the appetizer chicken b’stilla. This was quiet a different taste with the salty but sweet taste to it. Sweet isn’t my thing but my date loved it! For dinner he had the Tagine Djej. I loved his more than my own the sauce was different light and full of flavorful! I had the short ribs dinner which came with couscous and together it was delicious! The food was different but delicious and highly recommend trying this place. Will be back.

Came here for my birthday dinner as a first experience to Moroccan food. I ended up ordering the rack of lamb with rosemary sauce and pomme frites. The lamb was cooked well and had a lot of flavor but I wasn’t a big fan of the sauce. I will say that the Moroccan mojito was really tasty, but didn’t have enough alcohol in it as it tasted almost like a virgin mojito. We were told there was belly dancers, but it ended up being the same 50 year old belly dancer all night. After dinner, we decided to do the hookah lounge. We had 8 people and they decided to put us in a cramp corner and we were pretty uncomfortable for the 2 hour minimum that we had to sit there. We asked for a bigger seating area but they did not seem to care as they reserved it for their own race pretty much.

Wow! What a place! Basement has the hookah options, with belleydancers and middle eastern music. There is a plethora of options for hookah. Personally, I like the double apple. It gets very busy around 10 so if you’re a large group and want a table right away, come in around 9. Food was also good. Got the delicious mushroom and steak pizza. So good!!! I loved it. Service was prompt, and the staff is super friendly. Transportation? Orange line at community college. Then a ~10 min walk. Or Über :) And, they have valet parking. All in all, if you like hookah, come here!

Aside from the rude stuff at the lounge downstairs, this place was really nice and chill to hang out with a group of friends. I came here pretty late for dinner around 10pm on a friday night and it was actually pretty empty at the restaurant and packed downstairs. It sucks that you cant hookah while you eat upstairs and there is a waiting list for the lounge. Ridiculous, and we werent even allowed to know how long the line would take. Other than that, dinner was nice. I ordered their signature lamb dish and it was great though the portion size was really small for what i paid for, oh well. Overall i love the cosy interior design and i would come back if it wasnt so hard to get here from boston.

Just returned from a great dinner here at this Moroccan restaurant. We started with some cocktails that really started the meal off on a good foot. For appetizers we had the tuna tartar and the chicken bastille for appetizers and they were very good. Small critiques would be not enough tuna and the chicken was a little dry, otherwise the flavors were spot on. For our main courses we shared the lamb trio, the short ribs, and a rack of lamb dish called the sultan something. All 3 were delicious with the two lamb dishes being the top two. They cooked them to a perfect medium rare and the flavors were bursting in your mouth. The short rib was very tender and good as well, but we’ve had better. The side dishes were hit and miss. My sultan rack of lamb dish came with an crispy eggplant and mushroom side of heaven that everyone loved. The lamb trio of lamb chops came with asparagus and a heaving cylinder of mashed potatoes. Although good, they lacked some oomph compared to the lamb. The short ribs seemed to come with a side of creamy polenta with braised vegetables that were fairly delicious as well. They also had a belly dancer for entertainment that was unique and fun. The table we sat at was made up of two small couches around a table. It was also draped in fabric and I felt like I was relaxing in a small harem with the belly dancer prancing about and eating some fantastic food. All in all it was a great meal and I would be happy to return. If I would make one recommendation, that would be to get the lamb dish. Either one will be fine because they will not disappoint.

My friends and I were in town for the weekend from DC. Of course, from what I heard, the nightlife sucks in Boston compared to DC so we figured, let’s do hookah. Tangierino was recommended by three friends on mine. We went and checked it out. When we got there, all the tables were filled. We got put on the list by Eden, the hostess. She advised us that it would a while before we could get a table because they had a few parties ahead of us. No problem! While waiting, we got drinks at the bar, the entire staff there were very friendly. About 20 minutes Eden somehow managed to find us a table. She was awesome for this. We ordered to hookahs, Blue Mist and Melon/Mint, which are my two favorite flavors. Food menu looked great but we didn’t order from there and they had a belly dancer as well! Sucks that they close at 1am but had a great time!!! Highly recommend this spot if visiting Boston.

This was one of the coolest and most delicious restaurants I’ve ever been to. Our group was large and indecisive and our server provided the best options for us. I tried the appetizer sampler with merguez tangierino, chicken b’stilla, tuna tar tar(my favorite. with a perfect slight spiciness), and olives with feta(which for some reason tasted like heaven they were so fresh). I order the Moroccan-Sicilian Eggplant and never expected the flavors I got from this. The sweetness of the figs and apricots with the eggplant, mushrooms, plentiful cheese, and that sauce were just ridiculous. I ordered a side of couscous that had some nicely prepared vegetables — squash, carrots, tomatoes, topped with chickpeas. Loved it. The martini I thankfully ordered was like happy juice. Rose of Taza… Get it… One of the best martinis ever. Decent prices for such a place. I wish I lived here to bring my all fam and friends and to come try their hookah/cigar lounge. A++

Every time I visit Boston I have to make a trip or few to Tangierino. A Moroccan taste in Charlestown! Sexy atmosphere, exotic and contemporary décor that might take you to the world of the Arabian nights with a belly dancer around the low and tented tables with the dim lighting. Love the sexy ambiance, the efficient service, the delicious food, the excellent music, and the great double apple shisha. perfect for a date? you think??? It has a very Arabian /Moroccan look. The seating arrangement is interesting. Good food. They have an option of traditional style Moroccan food as well as modern style. Couscous dishes(traditional) were delicious. Comes in a fancy style(ceramic dish and lid) so the entire experience is very Moroccan. They give complimentary pita bread, humus and olives. It’s sooooo good but don’t eat too much coz the main courses are also heavy. They also have live belly dancing where a dancer performs for a few minutes once you are seated. I had mixed opinions about that because one can also put money on their waist(in the clothes) and I’m usually not a fan of women dancing for money in this manner. But it’s not as bad as I make it sound. Price: Definitely expensive. Not college level for sure. The cheapest(vegetarian) couscous dish was $ 19 but the meat dishes were almost $ 25 – 30 and even more. If you order just one main dish, it’s under $ 25 and yet an amazing experience. They also have a bar and a hookah /sheesha place that’s separate from the restaurant and it’s over 21 only.
