I love the blackened salmon caesar! I get it every time I’m there. It’s always consistently good. I was there recently for a working lunch and the bartender waited on us, he was perfect. He knew when to check on us and when to let us work. What a pro!

Not feelng the love here. This is a spot with a lot of potential — location, design of interior, menu, friendly staff — but it really missed the mark for me and my lunch companions. I give it an «A-OK» because it was not terrible but it was not anything special. And because it was not great, I felt the prices were a bit high for the quality of food and service. Food first — I ordered off the«Panini» menu fully expecting a sandwich that was filled with good items and then grilled. What I got was a piece of flatbread with grilled eggplant and onion on one side, and thick slices of tomato and mozarella with pesto sauce on the other. I guess it was an ungrilled openface flatbread sandwich, certainly NOT a panini. The egplant was very tough and uninspiring in flavor. The Tomato and Mozarrella fared better and the pesto helped counteract the very dry flatbread. My husband had the lasagna which he also felt was not the greatest. It was cheese lasagna with a. Bits of ground beef were added to the Marinara poured over the top. My other dining companions faired better with the Italian Sausage Calzone and the Philly Steak. Service was friendly, but marginal. We waited quite awhile to even get acknowledged after we were seated. We flagged down one of the waiters passing by our table and he told us that she was outside seving other customers. OK. The person seating us could have at least taken a drink order while we were waiting. They really weren’t that busy. My Husband was brought the wrong meal and was initially told, «That’s what you ordered.» After we all said, «He ordered the Lasagna», she removed it and replaced it with the correct meal. On the plus side, we were charged for the sandwich which was significantly cheaper than the Lasagna. The indoor dining area is very attractive with stained glass decorations, brick walls, open beamed ceiling and a general hip repuposed old train station look. There is outdoor seating for most excellent people watching in the open air market. There are some other options in the market for more casual counter service dining. I would comsider giving thise a try first before coming back.

I am not even kidding you, I would kill for their SOHO Italian Wrap. It is so incredibly delicious that I want it every single time we go to Charleston. We have been to Soho’s many times and most of the food is pretty good. Last time we went, their soup of the day was cream of carrot. Sounds weird right. Well it was amazing. The server brought us a taster and we were all so sold that we each got a cup to go with lunch. Their sandwiches are all pretty good and the pizzas are ok but if you want something out of this world, go with the italian wrap. You won’t be sorry. The prices are decent and the service is always great. I’d highly recommend Soho’s to anyone looking for a great lunch. We have never had dinner there, but I bet it is great too!

Service was good, and the food was well seasoned and presented. A little pricey for the location and surroundings. The Jambalaya was good but not quite up to a true Luisiana style meal. If Soho’s lacks anything it would be an educated staff. Our server described one dish that had prosciutto in it. She went on to say that«prosciutto was like bacon». When asked about other dishes she had to go to the kitchen to get answers.

Having just come from Charleston, SC perhaps my sights were set too high. However I could not have been less impressed with Soho. The food was, at very best, average(think Olive Garden). The service was, at best, rude and rushed. From the time we were seated to the time the check was thrust in my face was 30 minutes. My wife had the lasagna which consisted of store bought pasta and ground beef. There was absolutely no cheese in the dish save for the Parmesan on top. I had a very bland piece of Tilapia that was covered with a tasteless cream sauce of some sort. At no point during the meal were our water glasses refilled(we had wine as well) nor were we even asked if we wanted dessert. Lest you think we are harsh critics, we are not. I understand that everyone has an off night. But given the a la cart nature of the menu and the $ 70 bill for 2 people I was far less than impressed.

Good spot for lunch. I had the steak salad, with great flavors in the steak and amazing dressing. Fagioli soup to start. Good food, good service, definitely a return spot.

The special, scallops, shrimp and salmon under what seemed to be a butter, white wine cream and garlic sauce and creamy Parmesan rice. Very tasty. The salmon was cooked perfectly medium and juicy, and the medium sized scallops and shrimp were delicious too. I enjoyed the creamy rice more than I expected too. A wonderful plate of food and great service. My 7 year old just had the cheese pizza but it was quite tasty, and we still have a few pieces in the fridge. Lovely plate of breads too to whet your appetite with real butter. Since Chef Bill died I’m just glad his wife kept it going and we have a wonderful place like this to eat after a lovely May afternoon of flower and plant shopping. Memories of many great lunches and dinners here. I just wish they would bring back Jazz Nights.

The food is always very good, bordering on excellent. Sometimes I feel they are trying a bit too hard, loading things down with sauces and occasionally spoiling the presentation as a result. Being at the Capital Market, one would expect more farm-fresh type ingredients and simple gourmet dishes that let the ingredients speak for themselves without help from remoulades, coulis, and heavy tomato sauces. The atmosphere is extremely noisy when the place is crowded, which is just about every dinner service. The spring and summer are an excellent time to sit outside, which brings a quieter atmosphere but sometimes slower service. Despite all that, it’s still one of my favorite places to eat.

Decided to try Soho’s this afternoon. I had a wonderful vegetarian lasagna. The zucchini, tomatoes and walnuts balanced each other well. My mother had the blackened salmon and shrimp. They were seasoned well and cooked perfectly. I only come into town a couple of times a year but I hope to eat here again in the future.

This place came at the recommendation of a colleague who is a local. He told me that the atmosphere was great, the food was even better and the service was top notch. Good news is that the hype was true … at least for me. I debated between an appetizer of Escarole e Fagiole or Ministrone soup, but the server steered me toward his favorite of Ministrone. I’m glad I heeded his advice; it was delicious. So much flavor! For my entrée, I decided on the Pork Porterhouse Steak. My goodness that was terrific. I am not a huge fan of summer style squash, but let me tell you that this was seasoned perfectly and it was a beautiful compliment to the rest of this dish. To finish out the meal, I opted simply for a cup of coffee, but my co-worker got a piece of Tiramisu for dessert. I only had one bite, but it was delectable. Congratulations to the entire kitchen for a really wonderful experience. Joseph, our server, was perfectly attentive and did a great job of guiding us through a meal of difficult decisions(EVERYTHING looked so good). As for the atmosphere, I loved it. It was simple elegance … perfect for a casual or dressy affair. I hope that the next time my travel plans have me in Charleston I can make time enough to return.

Very, very good Italian food. Probably the best you will find in charleston. I loved my shrimp and pesto pizza that was wood fired. My wife loved her gigantic portion of chicken parm and my mom needed a to go box for her artichoke salad. The waitress was flighty and in attentive and the tables could have been cleaner. The price is reasonable for the quality of food. Otherwise a 5 star place. I will go back!

My husband and I were at SoHo ‘s several months ago and it still bothers me that we wasted our hard earned money on such a horrible experience. We could stand out in zero temp., soaking wet with no coat and have a more pleasant experience! The food was bland, cold and nobody cared! The waiters and staff could care less! Maybe it was my husband was using a rolling walker a result of recent back surgery! Who knows what their problem was! Nevertheless this place left very bad taste in our mouths and they won’t be bothered by us ever again! We have eaten and enjoyed Ourselves in many great upscale restaurants. If you go toSoho’s let’s hope the rude staff is having a better day, the food is great and you love the place. You. know the old saying, where there’s life there’s hope…

LOVED it! Located in the Capitol Market, SOHO is a «must» stop. Our waiter really looked after us well, pointing out the house specialities and suggesting an out of this world zinfandel without the out of this world price tag. We whetted our appetite with some artisan breads(the cranberry wholewheat one was amazing, but all were good), then on to the mains. I had the«Pork Porterhouse Steak»(pork chop) that was served with grilled risotto cakes and julienne squash and carrots topped with a Brandy creamed herb mushroom sauce. My dinner companion had the Five Spice Duck, which was a breast served with haricot verts, carrots and mashed potatoes topped with honey mustard sauce. We both raved about our own dishes while having meal envy of each other’s. Pleasantly full(too full for dessert but not so gorged you feel ill), we ambled on our way determined to come back the next time we visit Charleston.

Tempted to only do one star. I ate at the bar on a Friday night for my birthday meal. A restaurant with these prices should be near-perfect, but it fell far short of that standard. The food This was the most disappointing. I had stuffed shrimp & raw oysters for an appetizer, with escarole, bean, & chicken soup, and wild mushroom polenta for the main course. Only the polenta was worth the price. The oysters were awful, which makes sense since it was June and they are out of season, but hey, if you put them on your menu and charge that much, they need to be good. The soup was totally fine, but, again, not worth the price. The atmosphere I love the look of the restaurant with its open kitchen and high ceilings. The atmosphere is probably what bumped it from one star to two. The layout lends itself to seeing and being seen, which I like. The service The bartender seemed to be in a bad mood. Again, if I’m going to go to a restaurant with drink prices as high as they were, I expect to have a bartender that seems happy to be there and friendly. The only time he perked up is when I talked about how I was going to go to one of the Capitol Street dive-ish bars later. At one point, he mentioned that much of his clientele are from out of town(refugees from the Marriott, I suppose), which might explain why he treated us like we would never be back again. Also(and this wasn’t his fault, but was the fault of the manager), we had to wait about ten minutes to get our gift certificate validated. I really want this place to be great but I would have been disappointed had it been half the price.
