Had the crabcake tower very good and the fried green tomatoes on it were perfectly cooked

I was on a business trip and stopped at this restaurant, just a very down to earth place. Seems like a local place, I sat at the bar and ordered shrimp and grits based on the recommendation of the bartender and I was not disappointed. It was delicious! I have not had better shrimp and grits ever since! Check it out if your in the area.

Bad service and they are out of half of the things on the menu. The Mahi Mahi was over cooked and everything was very salty; hence the name salty waters.

We are in town on vacation and thrilled about the many seafood options around. We tried a number of excellent places thus far and were excited about trying a new place with much fewer reviews in the hope of discovering another gem. Unfortunately, this is not one. While we would prefer to forget the experience, we thought it might be useful to others who might be looking for a place to go on James Island. We started with appetizers that should have clued us into the trouble that lie ahead. The happy hour oyster dish seemed too good to be true: $ 8 for a dozen oysters. Most of the oysters were so small that it is a surprise they could be opened. They were not properly shucked so the little meat that was there was too difficult to take from the shell. When we asked about the oysters, the front manager told us a connoisseur would know these were good oysters. While we may not be connoisseurs, we are reasonable people. We let his underhanded insult slide… The shrimp cocktail included 9 shrimp that were warm in a large champagne glass with enough cocktail sauce for at least a dozen shrimp. We held out with hope for the entrees… The seafood pasta dish had a large piece of tilapia atop two forkfuls of spaghetti and a few small, overcooked shrimp and two scallops. The small portion was initially hidden by the inordinate amount of alfredo sauce. When the server was asked about the unusually small portion, she referred the question to the front manager who checked with the chef to «verify» the portion size. Following an unpleasant and unnecessarily long discussion with the front manager, it was agreed that additional spaghetti would be prepared. At this point, we were exhausted by all the hassle. The bill arrived with a surcharge for the additional spaghetti. This was adding insult to injury and the front manager brought another manager out to defend this decision. While the two managers continued on, an inebriated man at the bar began to make misogynistic comments about«women trying to stand big». While other patrons looked on, the two male managers said nothing as the man stood up with his drink across from us and continued to run his mouth. The food issues aside, the disrespectful attitude of the two managers made this experience abhorrent. Certainly not the southern hospitality we had come to appreciate in all the other Charleston venues we have visited thus far. Given the great selection of venues all around Charleston and James Island, there is no good reason to visit this one.

Crab legs were fine, but they don’t use clarified butter. Sides were incredibly bland. Would come back for cheap all you can eat, but that’s it. Apparently they only own one single crab-fork.

Food was pretty good. I’m glad there’s a low key seafood restaurant around here. However, pretty much all of staff were pretty heavy smokers and continuously took smoke breaks in the outside dining area. That would definitely deter me from eating outside. I watched our server smoke, then come inside and make our drinks without washing his hands. Our drinks had lemons and limes. Maybe tell the staff to take smoke breaks in the back and wash their hands?

This was definitely a good experience. Their happy hour goes until 8pm so we got there at 7:30 and ordered a round of drinks and a couple of happy hour appetizers. The service was great and the waiter was very attentive even though we had to wait for extra people to arrive. If you want affordable seafood/raw bar, this is the place to go. I live downtown so I’m used to expecting high prices for scallops, shrimp, pretty much everything seafood, especially a raw bar. I was pleasantly surprised at how good and affordable this was. It’s definitely a casual place, which was fine with us. The only thing I would want for would be a better beer selection for happy hour.

The only reason why I’m giving this two stars is because the shrimp and grits were great. We arrived at 12:30 and the doors were still locked. They open at 12. They let us in but we sat there the whole time with our jackets on because it was freezing. When we left a few people had walked in and every one of them had theirs on too. I ordered the shrimp and grits and my boyfriend ordered the blackened grouper. The grouper was tiny! So we shared my entrée because it was larger. And this may sound silly but the worst part about this was our server. She dragged her feet throughout the whole restaurant. It was so annoying! She never asked if we wanted anything other than water. There’s so much more but basically we probably won’t go back.

Was a little skeptical since really didn’t care for last seafood place in this location. I went for their first trivia night with my family and I was totally wrong in worrying about the food. It was great. The crab dip was one of the best I’ve ever had. My wife loved her chicken sandwich and mine was great too. We got a sneak taste of a potential appetizer of bacon wrapped shrimp stuffed with crab meat. Hope they add it to the menu. The prices were great. I really think a lot of items should cost more, but I’m not complaining. The staff seemed to know most of the people in there, but we certainly didn’t feel like outsiders. I can see us becoming regulars.

We stopped here because of the board posting for Frogmore Stew for $ 12. I have had this at several locations – this was by far the worst. I can make it myself better. Three of us felt sick into the next day. Our appetizer was fine, and my one son liked his entrée, but we were there at 6 p.m. on Thursday and we were the only people there. That should have been warning enough. Nobody else ever did come in while we were there – now I know why. If you want good Frogmore stew and don’t mind paying a bit, The Folly Beach Crab shack is a better choice. Bowens is good as well, if you don’t mind eating off of paper. But stay away from this place.

This was my second visit. The service was outstanding(thanks Chad) and the food was excellent. Large servings of seafood and the sides were ample. The grilled asparagus is a must have. Both fried and grilled seafood(oysters, tilapia, scallops, and shrimp) are very good. Definitely a «must return soon» restaurant.

What a nice surprise. I had the best PoBoy with shrimp, oysters and fried green tomatoes. Plenty of food for lunch. I will most definitely be back!

Their raw oysters are top notch, among the best in Charleston. I was a bit surprised they were so high quality since the place is otherwise a low-key sports-bar-like restaurant, and most people aren’t eating oysters. If you are an oyster snob, go there. If you just want a mellow place with a friendly staff and good food, it also isn’t bad.

I had a good dinner here. While I had a Groupon which I bought before they redid the place, they totally didn’t treat us like we were discount customers. It was an awesome deal too, btw… 1 appetizer, 2 meals and 2 drinks. I think i paid $ 15 for it? Anyway, we added a $ 4 beer and it came out to around $ 64. So minus the Groupon, our total was $ 4 plus tip. Anyway, the restaurant was pleasant. The staff made sure to greet us inside and on our way out. It looks like they are also big on sports nights, so it could both be a nice place to dine and a cool place to hang out and watch the game w/friends. The food was good. For the appetizer, we had the calamari w/Thai sauce… I didn’t realize it until it got to our table, but the sauce is actually sweet chilli sauce. Had I known, I would’ve opted for the cocktail sauce instead. For our meals, we both had Scallops with broccoli. I had mashed potatoes and the hubby had fries. Every bit was delicious! I could deduct one star for forgetting to serve my hubby’s beer(he had to remind her towards the end of dinner), but the overall experience overruled it.
