I was delighted with the Jasmine House Inn. The staff were very polite and hospitable — Margaret, who checked us in, offered to walk us over from the Indigo Inn(we traveled light, so we opted to show ourselves over) and then called to make sure that we liked the room. The staff were more available and welcoming than the staff at most hotels I’ve stayed in, and it was a breeze to check in and out. The room was clean and exceptionally comfortable. I was anxious because I saw unflattering reviews of the sister hotel, but I thought the sheets seemed fresh and the bathroom was spotless. I saw a couple of reviews that mentioned mustiness — when I walked in I noticed that the house smelled like other historic homes I’ve toured, and it doesn’t bother me a bit. Like the smell of old books, it’s pleasant to me. I vastly prefer the Jasmine House to most other places I’ve stayed. The only possible downside I can think of is that the sounds from the hall do carry right into the first-floor rooms. It’s a house, though — it’s not meant to be hermetically sealed(staying on upper floors might provide a little more quiet, as well). The breakfast was quite good. The décor was gorgeous — so unique and appropriate to an 18th-century home. And of course the location was outstanding. I would happily stay here again, and I would recommend it to anyone looking for a place with character and good service.

We made a great decision by choosing to stay at a charming inn rather than a hotel. Our room took us back in time with the high ceilings and decorative moulding. The location is perfect and in walking distance to the market, restaurants, as well as King street. The inn staff, Brian in particular, was excellent and really accommodating during our stay. We recommend this inn to anyone wanting to feel a part of Charleston.

Location, location, location! So perfectly situated in the historic downtown area of Charleston. I tried first for the Indigo but they were full so they suggested the Jasmine which they also own. After checking in at Indigo, I think we got the better deal as I have to agree with the motel feel of the Indigo. We stayed in a 2nd floor room in the actual house(there is a separate carriage house behind the main house with maybe 6 additional rooms in it) and had to access through the house and up the back stairway. The bathroom was typically small although with updated shower and fixtures. The door opened in front of one of the 2 sinks though which made getting ready the same time as someone else impossible. Also, there is no exhaust fan so when you shower, you have to leave the door open or you won’t be able to see through the fog on the mirrors for a long time. Our bed was the one in the photo with the lace around the top of the canopy and the green chair to the left of the bed. This bed is made of concrete, fyi. Not sure if this is the same bed as in every room but we were sore all the next day because of it. I agree that the lack of a place to socialize makes this less than a B&B and actually less than a hotel really. I wish they would’ve kept one of the 2 front rooms as a living room so we could’ve all met the other house guests there during the wine and cheese hour. Or else have held the wine and cheese hour out in the courtyard. But overall, for the price and location, this is the best bet for staying in the middle of the action in downtown Charleston. With all there is to do out in the city, time spent in the room will be very limited!

Our group of four decided to spend the first leg of our Charleston/Savannah Christmas by spending three nights in Charleston at The Jasmine House Inn.
My husband and I booked the Canton Room while our friends booked the Chrysanthemum Room right across from us. Both rooms are located on the second floor and share a huge balcony that spans the length of the house; each room provides direct access to the balcony. Though the balcony is open for anyone to enjoy, it really felt like it was a private balcony for those staying in these two rooms. There really is no reason for anyone staying in another room to venture to the second floor to walk out to the balcony when there is a really nice and large front porch with rocking chairs and a beautiful courtyard area at the back of the house for those staying in one of the Carriage Rooms. The location of The Jasmine House is perfect for strolling through old, historic Charleston. It’s right off of Meeting Street where a lot of the shops are located, and about 3 blocks from City Market where local artisans sell a variety of items. If you’re going to do a lot of strolling in this area, there is really no need to drive your car. Just leave it in the parking lot of the Indigo Inn which owns the Jasmine House Inn, and you’ll be fine. My only disappointment was that there was no living room and it really felt like were staying in more of a boarding house than a B&B. One of the things we really enjoy about B&Bs is the opportunity to relax in the living room of the home, meet other visitors, and enjoy lovely conversations with the innkeeper. That was a missing piece at the Jasmine House. Breakfasts were placed downstairs in a hallway area where you could serve yourself and either eat in your room, on your balcony, in your sitting room, or outside in the courtyard area. Upon checking out, we took a stroll through Indigo Inn and were glad we chose the Jasmine House for our stay. There is nothing wrong with Indigo Inn, as they share a front desk and reception/staff, but it felt like more of a converted motel with a common middle/courtyard area, whereas Jasmine House is a mansion converted into an «almost» B&B style accommodation. Would I stay here again? Maybe. I’ll likely look for a more traditional B&B next time around, but if the price is right, I’d choose Jasmine House Inn simply for the location.

I don’t have a single complaint about this unique Bed and Breakfast style hotel. Great location(my friend and I never even rented a car) near King Street, restaurants, shops, and the battery. The Inn has the feeling of an old Southern mansion, with daily wine and cheese on the porch(complete with rocking chairs) and breakfast laid out every morning to eat in their beautiful and large courtyard. Best part is that it was never crowded. It was full according to the Inn’s employees but I rarely saw anyone. Almost felt like it was my own massive mansion! Definitely worth checking out!

My boyfriend and I went to Charleston for 5 nights. We stayed at the Jasmine Inn for the majority of the time and it was our favorite place in Charleston! The Inn was beautiful and the room was absolutely lovely. We were both so sad to leave. Also, the location for the Inn is great! You can walk to basically everything you want from the Inn. I would highly recommend this Bed and Breakfast and we definitely plan on staying there again!
