3.5 Stars is a joke!!! This place is off the hook we sat at bar with David serving us and we had burnt end special, wings, Mac and cheese, and pulled pork and all of it was AWESOME!!! You are just missing out to not go here and see David

It was actually by accident that I ended up here, and by accident, I mean a miscommunication on my part with my wife. When she said«smokehouse» I thought she meant Poogan’s, and not Cumberland, but I was happy to be mistaken and had a wonderful experience. Helped myself to a large pimento and bacon burger with fries and a pint of Sam Adams Nitro on tap. Huge fan of Sam Adams, but my first Nitro … won’t be my last. Atmosphere was laid back and relaxing, as we had just left a play at the Footlight Players and were looking for some food to satisfy our cravings. My one negative was the kids menu that advertised a «pig in a blanket» … this is historically something cooked with the dough all around the dog, however, this was a hot dog that was grilled and came delivered on a slice of bread. Not quite a pig IN a blanket, but my daughter ate it, so who am I to complain?

Best wings ever! I don’t care what else is on the menu. I came here in January when we brought our daughter to school. I could not wait to come back when I picked her up in May. Service is great. They seem to be out of random dishes periodically. Like desserts. But I will come back here often.

Very expensive. Went during happy hour(dollar off drafts) and they still were $ 7.00 each. Will not be back

I give it 4 stars but my husband no more than three. Had the pulled pork sandwich which I enjoyed. The mustard sauce was my favorite. I really wanted ribs but they had none.

Went on a food tour of Charleston and this place was our first stop. Ended up being my favorite because the wings will haunt my dreams they were that good! Smoked and then fried, served alongside Alabama white bbq sauce(which I always assumed would be gross but in fact was so tasty!!) they were perfect and when I go back to Charleston this will be the first place I eat at! The rest of the food was delicious as well and so I highly recommend this establishment for humans who like meat and hate being hungry! :)

Stopped by for lunch. I was walking by and heard blues playing on the sound system. So blues, barbeque, and a beer and I am in! Service was friendly and attentive, my pulled pork sandwich and collards arrived promptly and was delicious, and the beer cold and tasty. The interior is pub cool. This place pretty much completed my food tour of Charleston. I have had all of the dishes that I wanted. Not that that will stop me. Tonight’s another meal.

This place is where we decided to eat after a carriage tour. We were on a mission to find the best BBQ on the peninsula. Unfortunately this place was just OK and we are still on our mission. Pros: Décor Drinks– Try the hard root beer Mac and cheese Williams wolf Pulled pork Cons: Waitstaff was not very welcoming limited menu limited selection of BBQ sauce– best one was mustard based I wouldn’t say this place is bad but it definitely is more of a bar. You have to really like their limited menu to enjoy this place.

I went here with some friends while visiting Charleston for the weekend to grab a quick bite to eat. We went on a Saturday night around 6:30/7 and there was no wait for a table, which was great. Our waiter was nice, and they had a good selection of beers here. The menu for dinner didn’t have a ton on it, but it was good. I got chicken barbecue and the mac and cheese. It was good! We liked it overall, and it was a good place to stop in for a quick bite and a beer.

Smallest $ 10 burger I’ve ever seen. Seriously was a kids burger. Might have been 3 oz at most. Taste was good though. $ 16 Brisket was cold and chewy. Couldn’t even finish it and sent it back. Can’t wait for John Lewis to show Charleston how brisket is supposed to taste! Fries were good and Mac n cheese was good. Typical disappointing tourist restaurant by the market.

I stayed in downtown Charleston for 4 days and I ended up back here for 3 of them — that should tell you something. I was hunting for some food on a Saturday afternoon and everything was either packed or way too high rent for what I was looking for(alcohol and simple but good food). After 30 minutes I found this joint nestled a block off east bay and with room to seat me. I made the right call. Let’s run this down — * Large interior with TWO bars * Super friendly staff * Great tap list * Better Whisky list * $ 3PBR tallboys * Kick ass BBQ * Kick ass wings * Best slaw i’ve had outside of my own kitchen. I think that says enough. The pulled pork was awesome, so was the house made hot sauces! The next day I came by I had the smoked wings which were massive and delicious. I got a side of the slaw too, as I said it was amazing. I ended up spending my last few hours before my flight here on a Monday afternoon and enjoyed the friendly staff and service regulars. Always makes for good conversation. If I ever find myself back in town I know where I am headed.

Great place to stop for pub grub, beers, or a bourbon flight. We ate a good lunch here. Bf ordered and devoured the 12 pieces of wings. He loved the various bbq sauces and tried them all. Each was different. I ordered the bibb salad as the heirloom tomatoes were not in season. Good, but not great served with radishes and sliced tomatoes. We also got the cornbread basket with yummy cornbread. Service was good.

Completely blown away by the quality of BBQ being served up by Chef Kyle and crew. Their bunt ends are phenomenal. The wings? Songs should be written about them. My favorite part of this place were the side dishes. Authentic old-school SC Hash and Rice! Wow! Charleston, SC is currently the«It» spot for dining in America and with places like Cumberland Smokehouse in the mix, it’s easy to see why.

Some of the best bbq pork I’ve had. The pork was slow smoked to perfection. Mac and cheese side was tasty. Squash casserole was awesome and very tasty. Duck fries appetizer was good but a tad on the over fried side. Three choices of bbq sauce on the table is a nice touch. Service was excellent. Waiter was knowledgable and knew the menu well. Atmosphere is warm and inviting. Plenty of tv’s to watch sports. Value is good. $ 10 for sandwich and one side is a good value.

Apparently this place is among the newer restaurants to the area. Past lunch time but not quite dinner, my crew and I were looking for a place to have some afternoon drinks and appetizers. We sat at the bar and had the most amazing service from the bartender who are friendly and very knowledgeable. Happy hour brought on something like $ 3 – 5 mixed drinks w house liquor, beers and $ 2 off bourbon. For food we shared the below: Loaded BBQ duck fat fries: loaded meant BBQ pulled pork, melted cheese and fried in ahhh, duck fat — overall you can’t go wrong. The fries were not even soggy. Wings: perfectly smoked and crispy. VERYGOODWINGS. Came with 3 sauces — two different BBQ and a decent mustard. Ended up ordering a second round bc they were so good. Brisket sandwich w collared greens: the hubby had this — claimed it was smoky, soft and«great BBQ.» The collared greens were even tasty! If you’re looking for a break from walking around Charleston and have a craving for BBQ, I would recommend this place!

Great food. Great drinks. Great service. Great atmosphere. Get the brisket burnt ends appetizer. Did I mention the burnt ends? Get them! Bring a friend, add a side of cornbread, and enjoy $ 3 bourbons for a delicious, laid-back happy hour session.(Even on Saturdays!) Or go all out on a full meal of pulled pork and sides. Insiders tip: ask for Neil to make you a margarita.

We stumbled in while looking for a happy hour. Decent drinks, but no food on special for happy hour :(Not very busy for a Friday evening. Menu is a bit limited… We did opt to try the wings, and were actually very impressed with how much flavor they had. The sauces weren’t particularly special, but the wings were delicious by themselves. This place runs a little pricey for barbecue, but it seems pretty legit and high quality. The servers were super attentive.

Given the other stellar reviews, I’m guessing Cumberland Smokehouse was just having an off-night when I chose to visit. The Good: * The service — friendly, attentive staff * They were running a nice Monday night special which we took advantage of. * The pulled pork was very tender. * The pulled chicken had a very nice smokiness. The bad: * The pork while very tender was lacking in flavor. * The pulled chicken had the flavor but was very very dry. * The baked beans were scalding hot. I lost a few taste buds. * The mac & cheese was inedible. It looked amazing but had a very odd twang to it. Mac & cheese is one of my favorite dishes. And I gave it a pretty fair four bite try. But I ended up just having to leave it.
