Nope. Didn’t realize this was a tourist trap. So mad we ate here! Our waiter didn’t come to our table for over 5 mins after we sat down. Even though he got double seated and was at the table that was sat 30 seconds before us. Took care of them and ignored us completely. Outside it said $ 4 Bloody Mary, okay sign me up. Couldn’t tell us the name of the Holy City rotating tap. I got the fried oyster taco which was horrible! The«sriacha sauce» was actually orange water. Like it was disgusting. I picked the oysters off my taco. I ordered she crab soup that the waiter forgot to put in. Well since I didn’t eat most of my taco yeah you can bring it out after my taco. Tap lines were dirty and needed to be cleaned. Get the bill and pay, no comp for the forgotten soup and was charged $ 8 for a Bloody Mary. Waited for the waiter to come back after 7 minutes we left. Went to see if the sign outside said for bar only, nope. Got the outside waiter to help us. Do not go here!

We absolutely loved it here. Kevin was our waiter and he was absolutely amazing! We cannot say enough good things about him The food was great. The seafood was super fresh. We will for sure be returning and are so sad they are closing for renovations for the next couple weeks!

All I had was the raw oysters. 3 dozen that is gulf coast, ace blades, and james river. My kid ate most of them. The shucker was Ivan Fields who came in 2nd fastest in the nation in 2003! Awesome convo with him. Hard to shuck an oyster.

Not at all impressed. So excited to finally have seafood in Summerville. Lobster roll was just cold lobster on a small roll and weird mustard. The shrimp is not deveined and the fried shrimp is not properly seasoned. The chicken wings aren’t tipped and there is again a lack in execution and seasoning. My daughter had calamari and said she liked it. The service was not great the waitress seemed annoyed at the large party, lacked pleasantness and took 15 minutes to bring the drinks. We will not be returning

Loved this one. Wasn’t there during a busy time but we had great service. The hush puppies with praline butter were crazy great. I want to book a flight back to Charleston just for those! And I loved the spicy relish with their fried green tomato. Didn’t try the oysters. Great crab dip… lots of crab!

Although they do not have a devoted gluten free menu I was able to order gluten free items. I pieced together a meal; grilled shrimp, corn on the cob and red potatoes. It was very good and not and on the wallet. My non gluten free father got hush puppies and a burger.

They have a nice patio, and I had a shrimp sandwich and key lime pie. The food was good but the hostess was super awkward. She made us walk all around the patio and building until she decided what to do with us.

My family ended up here after I booked a walking tour for the wrong day and ended up downtown with nothing to do. I felt silly, but we ended up with a surprisingly yummy lunch. We started off with bacon-wrapped shrimp, which was stuffed with what tasted like sausage. Definitely yummy and worth ordering again. We all ended up ordering the fish tacos, which were met with a round of «these are so good!» and«…»(sound of stuffed mouths not speaking). A little touristy, but since we were playing the roles of tourists, it was fitting to end up here. Definitely would recommend to someone looking for yummy flavors with a little bit of kitsch.

Aw shucks! The meal really had to end? The cedar plank salmon was so dang good, I could have kept eating it until I got mercury poisoning! But seriously, it completely melted in my mouth(and not in my hand), and was buttery(even though I asked for no butter– aka: it was juicy) and flaky and just down right perfection! The two sides of spinach I ordered were the perfect accompaniments to the fish and I have to say, this might have been my favorite meal of the whole trip in Charleston! The other dishes ordered were tasty as well, or so I’m told– the Mahi Mahi sandwich, the fried Soft Shell Crab, the Hamburger, the grilled Oysters and the Crab Legs… However, I also ordered steamed Oysters and they were a HUGE disappointment as some were missing and they were tiny! So if you have food allergies, and want to modify menu items, I recommend you don’t even bother trying to modify the oysters, not worth it, considering they’re $ 2 an oyster! Plus, you have to shuck them– aw shucks! If I were to go back, I would order the salmon as an appetizer and the salmon as an entrée, I guess you can tell by now what my favorite food is!

We were in search of raw oysters and some cocktails, and we found both here! The oysters on the half shell are very tasty. They have 9 different oysters to select from on the menu. After sampling them all, we ordered more of our favorites. As 2 people who really love oysters, we left happy, and that says a lot! We enjoyed some craft beer as well as a couple of crafted cocktails that did not disappoint. Don’t order the margarita unless you like them sweet! I would also like to recognize our server, M.J. He went above and beyond to ensure we had a great experience. He is warm, friendly, and really took care of us. Overall wonderful time at AW Shucks!

Amazing meal! The crab dip was amazing, pitas crisps were a little overdone and a lot greasy. The Iceberg Wedge salad with blackened mahi mahi was outstanding! While I appreciate they are one of the only restaurants near market that have a dog friendly patio, you don’t get to sit on their beautiful decked patio, but on the side of the restaurant in a courtyard with other businesses. It took a good 10 minutes after a hostess sat us for a waitress to even appear.

And I say 3 stars because i was keen to try the mussels which turned out to be more shells and substantially less meat. So much so that we barely ate two each. The reason as given to us by the manager was that certain ‘batches’ turn out to be troubling so its pretty tricky. However, he was considerate enough to take it off the menu. Thumbs up for customer service! Our server was very gracious and she gave recommendations enthusiastically. The ambiance is was good and perfect for a night out with friends. Music was sufficiently loud to enjoy and low enough to have a conversation. It was great to see groups of people laughing and really enjoining the evening. It just made the environment very cheerful and happy. We enjoyed the seafood casserole with red rice… serve steaming rich although not heavy and creamy. The salmon was average but had sufficient flavor. The Mahi Mahi turned out to be tad bit over cooked although it was flavorful… serve with red rice and a side of salad. Quite nice!

The service here is great and they were so friendly and our waiter even gave us recommendations as tourists. I have a severe shellfish allergy which made a lot of Charleston restaurants tricky for me, but the waiter was very attentive to my issues and even made sure to check whether or not certain things were fried/prepared with shellfish(most restaurants usually meet me with eye rolling when I ask despite the severity of my allergy and the risk associated), so I was extremely grateful for the service– he even ran back and asked about everything I ordered to make sure he wasn’t just assuming. Bug thumbs up. I would recommend ordering one of the fish dishes– each of my coworkers ordered a different one and shared and they looked out of this world. My burger was just eh The drinks were great too, I highly recommend the Palmetto Punch!

Had a long, enjoyable meal here! They have a pretty good craft beer selection — tried a whole bunch of local brews — a couple that I really liked. Oysters were pretty good — tried one of each. They have some great sides to choose from for only $ 4. Highly recommend the sauteed spinach — delicious! Grits were decent. Super friendly service!

I never write Unilocal review but between our server Corey being the best server I’ve had in years and the food being beyond incredible I simply had to. The Hush puppies, curry muscles and southern seafood paella will make you have wet dreams about them for months. Can’t wait to come back!

Found Aw Shucks by accident since 167 Raw was packed out. Big place with lots of seating at the bar. Ordered blue point oysters and grilled mahi tacos. The oysters were perfect and I was very happy with the tacos, too. Danielle, my bartender, excels at her job as she easily took care of everyone’s needs. My only criticism is the abundance of fried, bar-type entrées on the menu. Since I prefer seafood either raw, poached, or grilled the bulk of the menu did not appeal to me. Lots of families and small groups. Easy in/out experience.

I want to really like it here because it is in a perfect location off of Market Street, but I wouldn’t hoop and holler about AW. It’s cool that the restaurant has fans to keep the dining area cool during the warm weather, but besides that it felt like an average restaurant. The service wasn’t the best. I came here with my boyfriend and we waited to be seated for at least an hour. Although expected for a Friday night, we were hoping that the service would at least be up to par. The food was ok. I ordered the crab cake with red rice as a side dish. It was way too seasoned for me. I’m thinking it may be better if you go on a night that isn’t as busy. Will try again to see if there’s a difference.
