I ate here last weekend. We arrived around 10ish and no one was in the restaurant. Probably a clue to leave, but we were hungry and they were closing in an hour. The sushi was BOGO free, and I’m a major sushi lover, so of course that was awesome(so I thought). Our server brought out two waters, and mine had food(looked like rice) in the glass. I pulled it out and didn’t mention it, or drink the water. I ordered the salmon roll and the tsunami roll. I’d noticed that the rice was dryer than normal, and the sushi just didn’t seem fresh. I must have been right, because it definitely gave me a case of food poisoning. I was in the bathroom all night. I won’t be returning. Ever. If the restaurant is empty, make a beeline to your car and find another place to eat.

Clean environment and the staff is somewhat friendly. The food is pretty good! Always go during lunch when they are just opening up, so the food is always good and hot!

The restaurant was clean and the service was attentive, but the food was awful. Thom Ka soup was weirdly sweet and frothy, with only two small pieces of chicken. The«spicy» thai red curry was bland and under seasoned. The tuna salad was awful — spoiled tomatoes, salty dressing, inedible tuna. Neither of us could finish our food, and one got sick later in the day … definitely a restaurant to avoid!

Came here for lunch on our way to do some shopping. Will never make that mistake again! The place was clean, service was nice. Food was terrible. I got the General Tso’s Chicken and it was questionable what was going on there. The sauces was like a gelled goo on the plate! And there was so much piled on the plate looked disgusting. Every time I picked up a piece of chicken a long pile of goo went from the fork down to the plate. It was very unappetizing. My boyfriend had sesame chicken and that was good. Tastes like chicken, wasn’t overly gooed out. But mine, yuck! It was also supposed to be spicy which I’m not sure how it was. Maybe the sushi is better here? Won’t be finding out.

I’ll have to give them a second chance. I can’t speak for the sushi, but my partner said they tried too hard to be über creative, moving far away from the basic simplicity of traditional flavors, instead with multiple combined seafood and entirely too many different sauces etc — all in each roll. Myself, I ordered two of the shrimp summer rolls — which at $ 2.50 apiece, was a cup of shredded iceberg lettuce, a few strands of noodles, and half a filleted shrimp, wrapped up in a rice paper roll — a burrito-sized wad of taco lettuce, basically. Too big, too bland. The Singapore noodles — similar to an all-you-can-eat buffet, except more bland. Sorry folks, I wish I could provide a better review, but not yet.

The place is great. We brought our kid and sat outside so he can walk around without disturbing anyone. Sushi was good, the kids meal was a good filler for me.

We had a late Sunday lunch there. It was well occupied but not crowded. The two servers were kept pretty busy so it took some time for our order to get in. We had steamed pot stickers for appetizers and remarked they weren’t as spicy as they should be. Then I had the Udon chicken, my wife her usual cashew chicken. We were both disappointed. The Udon chicken was chicken, noodles and brown gravy tasting much like you’d get at any cheap Chinese restaurant. My wife’s reaction was that her dish was not tasty like she’d expected. Our experience was not what we were used to there and, while I’m sure we’ll be back, it won’t be soon.

If your looking for varieties of different Asian cuisine, this is the place. They have food from Thai, Chinese, Japanese and Vietnamese dishes. I had the sushi rolls and it was very good. I’ll have to try their Thai dishes next time.

My friend and I stopped in for lunch while at University Mall and had a great lunch on a Saturday afternoon. You can enter through either inside the mall or through the street entrance. We were promptly seated and the server was very friendly and helpful in explaining the specials. The sushi rolls are BOGO all day every day so it was a tough choice. We did opt for the Bento boxes and got a great variety of food. The Bento boxes are only $ 11.95 and you pick from a hot entrée, egg roll, sushi roll and rice. You cannot use any other coupouns from the Citypass book but the price is so great that you don’t need any coupons. The food was very tasty and it was a great choice while in University Mall.

My daughter and I were craving sushi so stopped in for lunch yesterday. They have BOGO rolls all the time so we ordered two rolls and a bento box. They give you a lot of options to build your own box. We chose the Kung Pao shrimp, crab wontons, spicy tuna roll and lo mein. Everything was delicious but the Kung Pao wasnt as spicy as I would have liked. The rolls were great and very large. We really enjoyed our lunch here. Will definitely go back when we’re in Chapel Hill. We’ve also been to the Red Bowl in Burlington. Food and service are great for a chain.

It is a chain, with a variety of your typical Asian dishes across the spectrum from Sushi to Tom-yum soup and kim-chi side salads, but I would say it is better than average and their BOGO sushi is very reasonable and better than average for a chain. Very nice presentation and décor.

Of the places I have been, this one is a good choice for a take out meal and quick service. I’ve never dined in bit I eat on the go with plenty of options. Food wise they have a wide selection and multiple ethnic backgrounds from Thai and Vietnamese to traditional sushi dishes. The sushi I got was a bit underwhelming unlike previous experiences but still good. Staff is wonderful, allows me to St and wait for my food and even offered to refill my to go drink. Definitely on my permanent to-go place for on duty food, maybe one day I’ll have time to sit and eat in house!

I gave the 4 stars, but I should add an asterisk to that. I’m a HUGE fan of their sushi and I’ll get more into the later. However, the rest of their food is decidedly mediocre and uninteresting. So I’m choosing to ignore that part of the menu and focus solely on the sushi! First off, it’s buy one get one free! I realize they probably jack up the prices a bit but I still think it’s a wonderful deal for as much sushi as you get. I’m a fan of the speciality sushi. The ones with different sauces, fish, and crunchy things inside. Red Bowl offers a large sushi menu with upwards of 50 different options. If this is overwhelming, don’t worry. The waitress is more than happy to offer suggestions. I can’t remember the names of what I get off the top of my head, but one is a crunch roll on the outside and the other has spicy eel in it. Yum! I haven’t found any bad sushi yet. Service is decent. They’re friendly and can offer suggestions. I’ve never had a problem with a waitress there. I’d highly recommend coming here if you’re a sushi fan! They’re rarely busy so you won’t have to wait long for service. Enjoy

Very average Asian restaurant. The bento box is your best bet if you’re looking for a taste of everything for dinner — my coworkers usually always get this and are satisfied after their meals. I usually get the spicy red curry vegetables and tofu — decent taste and a good amount of spice. Nothing is spectacular about this restaurant, but if you’re looking for a casual and fairly quick sit down restaurant, Red Bowl is your stop. The service is generally quick even if the restaurant is packed, and it’s located next to the university mall. A lot of college students usually drop by the restaurant. Overall, decent stop for quick Asian food.

We really only went here cause of a coupon. ** Pad Thai was not as good as what you can make at home ** «Firey Mango Shrimp» dish was really just shrimp and mango in that bottled sweet chili sauce It’s about what you’d expect out of an airport Asian Fusion place.

I played it safe and ordered off the sushi menu, and was surprised by how good it was considering that the place has 3 stars. The sushi is BOGO, and all the sushi that we ordered from the menu tasted fresh and contained a great variety of ingredients. Judging by the rest of Red Bowl’s menu, however, I can see why the place got 3 stars. Lots of your typical Americanized Chinese food, at higher prices than you would expect — pricing was similar to that you would find with authentic Chinese and Thai restaurants. For that, I’d typically give this place 3 stars, but adding a star since the sushi was good. So go for the yummy BOGO sushi, but if you’re looking for authentic Asian food, you’re best off going somewhere else.
