I dined here yesterday for lunch with a good friend. The service was good but the restaurant was not very busy. All of the food came out in a timely fashion. I, as well as my companion, really enjoyed all of the food. It is GREAT to have an Italian choice within the Timberlyne shopping center! As far as I could tell, the menu we were using was the menu for dinner as well. I am pretty sure people from my employer would visit much more if they could could get lunch at a better value. If there are daily specials, I do not think they were mentioned. Adding a few daily specials would give people more incentive to go more frequently. For instance, I had manicotti that came with bread($ 10), added a small salad($ 4), iced tea($ 2) $ 16 for lunch without the tip… I am definitely not a cheapskate, however, the price point prohibits me from choosing this restaurant for lunch even semi-frequently.

This is a relatively new Italian place near my office. We placed a large order by phone on the spur of the moment last week. Fifteen of us ordered off the menu. I called the order in and it was taken patiently and in detail. The order was ready 45 minutes later when I picked it up, each order bagged or boxed separately and perfectly labeled. We ordered a wide variety of items — everything from gluten free pizza to gnocchi, chicken parm, calzones, pasta, salads, and appetizers. The entire staff raved about the food!!! The only comment was that the spinach in one calzone didn’t appear to be whole leaf or baby spinach — it was finely chopped, maybe frozen chopped spinach? That aside, it was all absolutely fantastic. This is a small eat in place, not fancy. A couple of us had been in for lunch and the food was SOGOOD we put it up for suggestion as a local place to order office lunches from. NOONE was disappointed and the staff here went the extra mile to have it ready, boxed, and labeled on time. We’ll definitely be back. If you’re looking for awesome Italian food fast, reasonably priced, and don’t want to get all gussied up this is the place. There’s nothing like Italian comfort food made well and this place hits the mark.

Excellent service, OK food. My waitress was awesome — very attentive. The pasta dish that I had could have used a little more flavor. However, both the pasta and broccoli were al dente, which was perfect.

It is cozy, and the food is decent, but kind of simple in all aspects. For example, the chicken cutlets in the parmesan could have been tenderized more, and the marinara sauce could have had more soul and richness. Service was definitely good. My food was decent, but it did not wow me to race back too soon. At similar price points, I have found bigger portions and/or more soul and flavor in the some parts of the triangle area. Not bad, but there is an opportunity for improvement considering the prices being charged and the style of dishes being served. If I lived right near there, I may go more often, but not sure it is worth a frequent drive across town…

I’ve been to Magone’s several times for either pizza or some other dish and have never been disappointed. Tonight we went with a number of friends and everyone enjoyed their meal.

Great neighborhood pizza place with friendly prompt service. Just what Chapel Hill needed. Good selection of Italian favorites. Fresh ingredients. We had the Greek salad and pizza.

I had lunch here today with my toddler around 12:30pm. It was the height of the lunch rush but there were many empty tables and we were seated right away. I mention this because it took about ten minutes before our server came to greet us. A white man was seated a few minutes after us at the table next to us and his server greeted him and took his order within a minute of him being seated. I’m sure you can imagine what an Asian woman with a half-black son was thinking(I hate that this thought even crosses my mind when something like this happens). In any case, the man’s server knew I was seated earlier and told me, «YOUR server will be right with you.» In other words, I’m not your server and I’m not racist so stop staring at me. Okay, thank you. Sorry about my accusatory stare. Hearing that actually made me feel better. A few more minutes pass and my server finally shows up apologizing profusely for the long wait and explaining how busy she was. I appreciated the apology but didn’t care for the excuse. I’ve worked as a server before so I know the rule is to greet your tables within one minute even if it’s just to say«I’ll be right with you.» Just take two seconds to acknowledge their presence. I don’t think servers realize how important that is. Service was a 2. As for the food, it was a solid 4. The pizza I got was really tasty. I didn’t love that the meatballs were sliced(It seems like they’re trying to get away with putting fewer meatballs on the pizza; most places halve them), but I loved that the chunks of eggplant were breaded and fried. Not healthy by any means, but super tasty! The small was 12-inches and $ 9($ 1 per topping). I might go back to try their entrees like eggplant parmesan or lasagna. If I do, I’ll probably try to go during off-peak hours for more prompt service.

We were traveling thru NC on Valentine’s day and wanted a nice Italian dinner. We found this place on Unilocal good reviews just not too many of them I think maybe because it was relatively new. I am glad we gave it a try. I had chicken piccata and my husband had baked ziti with meat sauce. Both were excellent. We both had small greens salad with the house dressing and again excellent. I had a very tasty Riesling. We finished with a slice of limoncello cake. Perfect finish. Bread came with herbed olive oil and a small amount of crushed tomatoes in the center. It was quite good. Our sever Kim was fantastic!

5 stars, and this is just from delivery! We wanted to try a new pizza place a couple weeks ago, and I found this newish place. Very thin crust, lots of veggies on the veg pizza, great herbs and spices on the cheese. The greek salad was LOADED with feta. We ordered from them again the following week(on pizza night, of course). I truly cannot wait to sit down there.

Excellent family-style Italian food. The pasta is al dente, prices are reasonable and service is very good. We started with a lentil soup special and Cesar’s salad followed by shrimp marinara and spaghetti aglio e olio. The restaurant is not fancy but the food is really good. We will be back.

I had high hopes based on the couple of reviews I read. I have to say that I was very disappointed when we picked up our pizza and noticed they put canned or maybe frozen spinach on it. It was not fresh leaf spinach which is typically what I get on pizza when I order spinach. I had to rip most of the toppings off my pizza because the taste of canned spinach was overwhelming. The canned spinach also caused the dough to be soggy. This made me not want to come back because I would be concerned about wether or not they use canned vegetables on other dishes. I hope they change how they cook and use fresh ingredients.

Ciao Bella ! Yes, excellent. …Just for starters, Pizza is very good… Real pros in Magone(which means«Wizard» in Italian and that = great karma) in every way, the kitchen, the service, authentic Italians and Italian-Americans with local roots, and these owners/operators are wonderful folks. They are Lots of fun and Super friendly. Great personalities… … Very handsome, nice, simple and comfortable décor, and So so clean… .and these folks put love in their food, because they LOVE To EAT …(p.s. family owned – No«chain» here folks) And just pizza by itself does not tell this story. Nice to dine there. Excellent wine selection. …And of course. The FOOD… is outstanding. many specials… della CASA… First time there,.had the. FETTUCCINECARBONARA …was fabulous… oh my my… Scrumptious, …and so much of it… huge portion. could not eat it all …so many choices…, and so little time… …hope you like real good bread too …oh, many items under 10 «clams», especially subs and hoagies(hot or «cold») salads, slices I stop by often to grab a slice to «go»,… almost every time I am near them – it’s addictive. …ARRIVEDERci … .

FINALLY… Chapel Hill has some tasty food options but we have been sadly missing a local Italian sit-down restaurant. Have actually spoken to friends about opening one… and now, the need has been filled! The atmosphere at Magone’s is welcoming, the wait staff is a little over attentive but warm and the Food is delish! House salad had ‘real’ mix of greens and the house tomato dressing was drinkable(actually asked for more to dip the homemade bread in). I had the Fra Diablo Linguine with calamari… was fearful sautéed calamari would be rubbery but it basically melted in my mouth and the chunks of garlic were nice surprise. I like mine a little spicier so added red pepper flakes. My partner ordered the lasagna and she had to stop herself from eating the entire dish because she(who happens to be authentic NJ Italian) wanted to have leftovers because it reminded her of childhood Sunday ‘gravy’ with the family. So, yes, we finally have a neighborhood authentic, Jersey family-style Italian restaurant that earns 5 star Unilocal review.
