I got food to go a few days ago and it was the worst Chinese food I have ever had. I have no complaints about the employees and the service was quick. However, I was unable to eat either of the two meals I purchased. At first I thought maybe it just tastes off because I’m pregnant, but my husband said it was inedible too. The general tsos was very very sweet and not spicy at all. The other dish tasted a bit like spoiled meat and had a odd odor. Even the egg rolls were disgusting. I am new to the area and trying lots of new places. This is one I will not be coming back to.

One star is not harsh, it is well deserved. This was the dirtiest place we’ve ever eaten at, ever. The table and condiment bottles were all coated with sticky goo. The table behind us had a jar of Pond’s Cold Cream sitting on it which I just thought was bizarre. We ended up here because Fords Fish Shack was closed, and this place was right next door. It was an awful decision! My boys split the sesame chicken lunch special, which came with fried rice and a soda, and I got fried rice, because the place looked so sketchy I didn’t trust them to try anything else. When my son picked something out of his food asking«what is this?» I packed us up and got out of there. And it wasn’t cheap either. This is not just typical Chinese takeout, that’s an insult to any other Chinese food takeout place. I’m floored that this place has enough business to keep going. Service was pretty awful too.

I had a big communication problem here. I have been there just 1 time. It is not gonna happen again. The person who is taking the orders is kind of rude. Just don’t go!

Surprised at all the one star reviews, but also surprised by the five star review. This is Chinese take-out so I go in with the expectation that I am not getting gourmet service or food, but rather a quick meal that is not hard on the wallet. Honestly for me, this was 2 ½ stars so I rounded up to 3 because 2 was unfairly harsh. We walked in after a quick stop at Home Depot and a discussion about what we were going to do for dinner since we really had nothing at home. We were greeted by the woman behind the counter who asked us if we planned to dine in or take food to go. After we confirmed to go, she handed us menus so we could make our selection. We chose fried dumplings, crispy beef and Kung Pao chicken. The kitchen is directly behind the counter so I could see our food was being freshly prepared and to be honest I enjoyed watching the cook make our meal in the huge wok especially the huge flames that seemed to engulf it. Entertainment plus food to go — bonus. It didn’t take long until everything was bagged and ready. The food was decent for what it was — Americanized Chinese takeout. The dumplings were not super doughy as I’ve had in other places and had actually had a decent flavor. I enjoyed the crispy beef a bit more than the chicken. Kung Pao chicken is(and was advertised as) a spicy dish, but the spice is where this dish really fell short. The chicken also seemed to have a breading of sorts which I did not really care for. However, we did not experience the grease that other reviewers mentioned. The vegetables in our dishes were cooked well(still a bit crispy, not mush) and fresh. With the dumplings and two dishes, there was way more food than we could possibly eat. We both had leftovers the next day and still didn’t finish all. I will confirm the beef heated up much better than the chicken. I would not order Kung Pao chicken here again, but if we were in the area and needed a quick meal, I would give China Wok another chance.

Worse ever! Fried rice taste burn and chicken teriyaki don’t taste and don’t look like chicken. Bad! Was my first and last time. Also, price is high.

I’ll keep this review short — The rice, soup and egg rolls were not good. Not sure who on Unilocal is qualifying this as good dining — but nope. I’m going to stick with Hunan Café and pay the upcharge for the fried rice to have veggies. I still welcome competition but China Wok is no where near as good. It is a step above Wong Kok but they’re not great either

Baffled by the negative reviews because every meal I get from China Wok is great! My children rave about the Chicken Teriyaki. Keep doing whatever you’re doing!

Oh my gawd. Let’s just say I rather eat at Mc Donald’s. And the only time I eat at mc Donald’s is when I go on road trips … Fried Rice — 3⁄5 Kung Pao Chicken — 2⁄5 Beef Broccoli — 2⁄5 Beef Teriyaki — 2⁄5 low Mein — 1⁄5 fortune cookies — 5⁄5BECAUSEITSFREE :) All I gotta say is. If really want to try Chinese food. PLEASEPLEASE go somewhere else. Anywhere is better than here. I was hungry too! And it still tastes mehhhh. Customer service wasn’t even that great too.

I’ve been here three times and the food is always excellent. We usually order black bean chicken, orange chicken, and basil fried rice. It’s really, really good.

I just moved into the area and while I was house shopping we stopped by here because I love Chinese food(both authentic and US takeout). We had a few different lunch specials including things not hard to mess up like beef with broccoli, fried rice, and chicken wings. They were all pretty bad. While I always like to give places a couple chances, my entire family of 4(plus one child) all didn’t like it. We were the only ones in there so I can’t even write it off as they were too busy and let the quality drop. It’s disappointing since it seems like there’s few Chinese takeout places in the South Riding area. I’m trying them all out one at a time though so hopefully I find one that sticks. For now I’ll just make the drive down to Cheng’s if I really crave Chinese.

Ate here once, never ever again. Everything that everyone with me had was horrible. Even the fried rice was bad! The staff was quite rude as well. Do yourself a favor & go around the corner to Wong Kok instead.

This place sucks! They said my food will be ready in 10 mins and it’s been 40 mins. They claim their waiting on brown rice and had I ordered white rice it would’ve been ready long ago. COMEON! It would’ve been fine had she been honest from the getgo but no she decided to feed me a lie. Pissed me off. I can’t stand dishonesty especially in business!

Absolutely not. There are at least six Chinese restaurants withing 5 miles here in the South Riding area and this is the absolute LAST one I will go to. Actually, even if this was the only Chinese restaurant in a 100 mile radius, I would still not go. The quality of the food just sucks. I have nothing better to say. It was very greasy, staff was idiotic, the food tasted like it was frozen food microwaved. Obviously if I wasn’t lazy and cooked it myself it would’ve been 100 times better. When I ordered off the lunch menu, you pick what you want(I got the kung pao chicken), a choice of fried rice, and soda. The lady who picked up the phone only asked what I wanted. After saying I wanted the lunch combo she didn’t bother to ask me what sides I wanted to go with it and just kind of waited for me. I actually forgot to tell her what kind of soda I wanted nor did she ask me and just gave me coke. I mean… you ask for my number when I call ahead, call me back and ask or something. Anyways, if you live in South Riding, there are definitely plenty of other Chinese restaurants in the surround area(There are way too many matter fact) so I’d suggest to go somewhere else.

The food here is pretty bad. Being the only Chinese restaurant around here, it is pretty disappointing. At any restaurant, getting the order wrong is a big strike. Fried vs steamed dumplings is pretty different, yet they managed to give me the wrong order. The food in general tastes very cheap. I’ve eaten here twice, and unfortunately don’t think I will eat here again. I hope they move out so a better restaurant can take it’s place.

This was the most disgusting Chinese food I’ve ever had. It pains me that I cannot give this restaurant less than one star. I ordered the Orange Chicken with white meat and I don’t think there was any chicken in the entire meal. It was nothing but globs of doughy breading in a foul tasting sauce that was nothing like any Orange sauce I’ve had before. Once I had placed my order I was amazed at how long it took to receive my food. It took forever! The restaurant was even dirty on the inside. Please do yourself a favor and never go here. I cannot tell you enough how bad the food was. Even the fortune cookie was stale. And they aren’t cheap. They charged me $ 1.90 for a twenty ounce Diet Coke. Disgusting, gross, foul, never-go-there, I feel sick now from eating there. NO

This place SUCKS. Not only is the food bland, the lady taking orders is RUDE. First of all, if you don’t speak English, you shouldn’t be taking orders at a restaurant. I came in to get one order of shrimp fried rice and one order of chicken/shrimp fried rice and the lady for some reason can’t understand what I’m saying. I had to repeat it to this idiot like 5 times that it’s two orders and she STILL screwed it up. So rather than getting a shrimp fried rice and a chicken/shrimp fried rice, I got a chicken fried rice and a shrimp fried rice. And while I’m placing my order, she’s getting mad at me and rolling her eyes because she can’t understand English. How are you going to get mad at me because YOU don’t speak english? It’s safe to say that I’ll never be back to this dump again. The service is ridiculous. Whoever goes there should really check your orders and make sure you got what you ordered because if she can’t understand something simple like this, don’t expect her to understand any complicated orders.

General Tso’s Chicken is pretty basic«Chinese» food and it’s hard to get wrong, unless you get it from China Wok. Chicken was mostly lumps of breading, very little actual chicken, and it was limp and bland, not at all crispy. I’m not sure what«NY style Chinese» is supposed to be, but this ain’t it. This is more like Omaha style Chinese(no offense to Omaha-ians!) — bland and boring for a palate that can’t take a garlic and heat. Totally disappointed by the quality of food, since SR really needs a decent Chinese takeout place.

Bland, greasy — if this is New York style chinese they can keep it. Service was good, staff was friendly, food was poor. Unless over-American-ized chinese is your thing, I’d skip. This is based on a single visit, several dishes. I *might* give it another go when the brood is elsewhere and I need somewhere very close.

They claim to be New York style Chinese food, but I think they are talking about those places uptown where you can get Chinese food, pizza, tacos and subs at the same place. The food I ordered for takeout was under seasoned and uninteresting. But the dealbreaker was the hair found in the Chicken and String Beans. Such carelessness should have been predicted by the generally unclean feel of the place. There are two other places less than a mile away that are solidly above average, so there’s no reason to ever go to this new place. It’s too bad too, since there is a need and a market for top-quality takeout in the South Riding-Stone Ridge area.
