The room was clean and comfortable. Overall, probably the best cheap hotel around.

Spent one night here before running the Illinois half marathon. I was looking for an affordable place to crash for one night and keep my stuff while I was running. I got what I paid for, so I can’t complain! As far as the negative review from 2009, I’ll say that it is not even close to being that bad. Yeah, the place has its quirks, like a noisy refrigerator and a microwave that resembles an easy-bake oven. There are not blood stains on the sheets or anything ridiculous like that. The sheets and towels are clean, the rooms’ temperature is easily controlled, and there is no foul odor. My wife did not enjoy the hotel. She found a couple hairs in the room and the place is overall outdated and appears to be junky. My overall recommendation would be if you and a couple bud’s are looking for a place to crash… this place is just fine. If you have your wife/sig. other with you and don’t want her to be upset with your choice of accommodations, check in somewhere else.

My friends and I just ventured down to U of I this past weekend. There are a ton of hotels in the area, but they were so expensive! Our room at the Lincoln Lodge was only $ 60. The bed and linens were clean, the bathrooms were clean… what more can you ask for? Yes, this place is a bit outdated, but I think that provides part of it’s charm. The wooden walls make it seem rustic. It’s obviously not going to be a Hilton. If you’re looking for luxury, then go ahead and pay the $ 100 at the Marriot down the block. If you’re just looking for a clean, cozy place to stay at an affordable price, consider staying here. Also, the management was quite kind and accommodating. Another plus was the fridge and microwave in each room. I would definitely stay here again if I ever venture down to U of I! FYI… I was researching this place before we booked the room. There were some negative reviews on TripAdvisor and Google Maps. This place is under a revamped management as of Jan 2010. The management addressed these negative comments on these sites and stated they have taken the appropriate measures to ensure the cleanliness of each room. Our room was clean and welcoming. The towels were white, the microwave and fridge were clean, and most importantly, the bed and linens were clean. This place isn’t bad and it’s cheap.

OHMYGOD! Frightening on so many levels. It looks cute from the outside– but when you get inside you will note the following: 1. Stains on the sheets that resemble something you’d rather not roll around in. 2. Dead flies in the sink, fridge, ceiling, and vents(as well as soon to be dead flies in the air). 3. Unmentionables floating in toilets that no longer operate. 4. Towels whose natural color has faded to brown. 5. Red smeared stains on the ceiling. 6. People violently screaming at each other next door and outside. When it came time to check out– we stood at the front desk for a half hour and waited for someone to help us. We left our key with who we think was the custodian– but not sure. I would have preferred sleeping outside or in the car. How do we know all the rooms are like that? We switched twice with the same disgusting problems. I showered for days.
