Went to this restaurant on Sunday night dinner. Service: the server is attentive and great Food selection: Great, there are sushi, a bit of sashimi, chinese dishes, selection of seafood raw and cooked oysters, lobsters, crab legs, crab Taste: Not great consider we went there starving. Think the only thing i really enjoyed was the oysters. Even though they featured lobsters heavily on the advertisement, they are so small in sizes and the taste is not great either. Will i go back? No. our dinner totaled to be close to $ 80 excludes gratuity for 3 adults and 2 kids. I think we can have better meals with $ 90 in the city of Cerritos with full of selection of great restaurant.

I find this place mediocre cause its a typical buffet with a lot of blunt food. I just come here for some unlimited sushi cause I’ve craving it during that time, but either than that, it was quite OK to my satisfaction.

My dad and I have been a loyal customer ever since they opened. We love their crabs and would get plates after plates after plates. And the workers noticed. but I am a skinny guy so they didn’t say anything. But every-time I would come here It would be plates after plates of crabs… One day my dad tried to eat here and they told him that he and I wasn’t allowed here anymore. Guess they were getting mad because we would eat a lot of their crabs. When my dad told me this I laughed out loud! It’s a buffet«all you can eat» this is some bulls***! This is a true story, we really did get banned from here. Smfh, their crabs were fresh and delicious. Oh wells, on to the next Asian buffet.(I would of given this place 5 stars if they didn’t banned us & I wanted to give this place no stars for banning us but I can’t do that so here ya go one star)

Not coming back. The pro: huge variety of seafood, Chinese, sushi and American food. The cons: way overcooked, I had the impression that they buy frozen food close to expiration date and they overcook it to be sure all bacteria is dead, :-0. We will find out tomorrow; -) If you are not afraid, seafood buffet dinner for $ 15 is a fair deal.

Whoa. So, this place probably wanted to replace Todai, not even close. There was a nice variety, but very few things tasted, well, good. They lobster claws are supposed to be the big draw on a Friday, but they were incredibly overcooked. Right next to that mess were the snails that my husband found surprisingly flavorful and not overcooked. The crab legs were fair, but there weren’t any claws. The octopus was rubbery, the sashimi was frozen, the sushi not good at all. Upside, the baked crab was yummy and our busboy was super nice. Downside, pretty much everything else. Even the macaroons which I generally love. Safe to say it was an adventure, but not one we will be repeating. It wasn’t the worst buffet I’ve ever had, it just really wasn’t good.

If this is your first seafood buffet and you like it then it’s probably best you stick with this one. Imo, I like Hokkaido Buffet better, or even King’s Palace, just because they have better quality and sometimes better customer service; the host/waiters didn’t look too happy to be there and it gave off a bad vibe. My main reason for going to a seafood buffet is crab legs, shrimp and crawfish. The shrimp was okay but the crawfish was too damn small and pointless to even try and eat. The crab legs were the worst I’ve come across, bitter tasting and looked and felt fake. They were also smaller and harder to break. I didn’t stay long, I’m sure everything else was of poor quality. If I do decide to go to a «cheap» beffet again it’ll be King’s Palace because it’s the same price but better quality.

Perhaps eating at yummy(and good) Vegas buffets has skewed my version of what acceptable buffet should be. Seeing 2 ½ stars wasn’t reassuring, especially since I’ve had a bad case of food poisoning at Souplantation years ago and vowed never to go back ever again and I’m wary of many buffets because of it. It wasn’t my choice but there was a family gathering here, so I was obligated to go. It’s cheap aka affordable food. Personally, I’m quality over quantity. But I understand if you’re on a budget, have a large family and in this tough economy, this is what’s affordable. Then again there are affordable options that are actually tasty. The place to my knowledge is not Japanese own, I believe Chinese and/or Taiwanese owned and yes, it’s not necessarily heavy on the seafood or Japanese food. The bulk of the Japanese food is subpar sashimi and various rolls. I got handful of lemons and squeeze them on top, a la MacGyver style ceviche, to hopefully kill off potential bacteria. There’s your typical salad bar, Chinese food-fast food style think Panda Express, various dim sum-like food items, buns and what not(not good they’ve been sitting out for a while and were dry), and other fried food, which weren’t too bad. Apparently they serve lobster on the weekend but good luck getting one. Because as soon as those babies are placed, there is a long line of folks waiting to devour. So much they had to put up a sign that there is a limit of 3 pieces, which not everyone abides by. I didn’t want to fight the line and after having lobster Newport Seafood what else can top that. I do wish they would label all the items so you have an idea what you’re eating. Hmmm… what be this mystery meat. Dessert is your typical buffet soft service ice cream of vanilla and chocolate or swirled. Nothing was super appeasing so I opted on mainly fruit but the sesame balls filled with red beans weren’t too bad. The staff was nice though. My highlight of the meal was enjoying the décor of holographic-like/3-D pictures of puppies and horses adorning the restaurant. Perhaps this place is great if you’re stone? Not that I encourage that behavior. Though I’ll be saving my stomach for tastier options in the area in the future.

I was a little hesitant to have my son’s party here given the reviews but in the end I’m glad to have held it here. The guests enjoyed the food and the waitstaff was very good to us despite the fact that there were 3 parties going on at the same time on a SAT afternoon in DEC. We didn’t have a knife to cut the cake so they quickly got us the sushi knife. My balloon guy wasn’t able to eat but since we paid for his meal already they let him have a to-go box for his meal. Also we had some leftover cake and they gave a box for that as well. Our reservation was 1−3pm, but we stayed way past 4:30pm and they didn’t say anything. They gave my party a 10% discount and allowed then to sit at extra tables not reserved for our party, since we needed at least 2 more tables to seat everyone. Good job, Tokyo Buffet. As the host, I was busy attending to guests, but I will go again and enjoy your food in a more relaxed setting. Thank you.

Let me start with the cons, so I can get them out of the way first since this restaurant has so many useless bad reviews. This place could use a bit of a sprucing up, it’s true. But I don’t come to a buffet for it’s ambience. The restaurant name cracks me up, because it’s definitely not a heavy seafood buffet. Now that that’s out of the way, to the amazing parts! This is what you would call an authentic/traditional Chinese buffet! And am I oh so happy to have found one of these on my business trip to California! For the record, California is the only state I’ve been that has an authentic Chinese restaurant in the American buffet sense. …I still need to visit the Chinese Buffet in Austin, TX but anyway. Their food is delicious! Take one look around and you’ll know right off the bat if it is more of an authentic Chinese buffet or if it’s more of an American knockoff Chinese buffet. How? Easy. Are there more Asians dining in or are there more American dining in? Oh goodness! I’m in heaven! There are more Asians! Hey, my step mother is Taiwanese, she told me how to figure it out. I had so much yummy food at this buffet. Shrimp, noodles, clams, oysters, rice, mushrooms, Chinese donut(you know that cute little puff pasty with sugar on the outside. Totally American by the way), red bean pastries(YES!), and definitely some more stuff that I can’t remember right now because I just got too excited about all their delicious food. AND if you’re a Unilocal!member you get 15% off! When I come back to visit my dad, we will definitely be stopping by here again!

This is probably the worst buffet I’ve ever been to. Literally not one thing I ate was good. And I utilize the actual definition of «literally,» not the new alternate version championed by Google and mouth-breathers everywhere who think«literally» is a figure of speech to exaggerate. So none of the following was a «good-tasting» version of itself: — Noodles — Rice — Chicken wings — Chicken skewers — Baked salmon — Flounder — some… baby back rib… thing. — Seaweed — Salad — Sushi(oh god, the sushi) — Cantaloupe — Honeydew — Pineapple — Grapes I will say the service is sweet and I appreciate the Carrows-by-way-of-Taiwan décor, only because it’s not misleading. Happily — and this was the only reason my first and hopefully last visit was not a total failure — my grandma likes this place and always feels it’s a darn good value when you can load your plate up with as much crab, lobster, snails and mussels as possible. +1 star for playing Yanni.

First off, this place has a «B» rating. I’ll let your imagination run wild on that one. Food itself is ok. It’s what you can expect from any buffet style Asian eatery. Though the décor is a little off for the place(Greek pictures in an Asian buffet?) The highlight, and chuckle, of this visit was overhearing a white guy asking for a spicy mayo bottle for his sushi.

My dad had heard about this place from a friend and randomly wanted to go tonight for dinner – after seeing the terrible ratings on Unilocal,I was very skeptical, but it was actually pretty good! Granted, the quality of the food is what you would expect for a buffet, but even if you were paying for just the crab legs and lobster alone(lobster served only on weekends), it would be worth it. This place is really similar to Teppanyaki Grill Supreme Buffet near our house in Anaheim(a lot of the same items – I wonder if they’re related at all?), but Teppanyaki doesn’t have non-fried crab legs and they don’t have lobster(at least I don’t think so). My dad commented that it’s also a lot cleaner here than at Teppanyaki. I wouldn’t recommend getting the beef/meat in general. But the coconut shrimp is good, and the stir fried veggies, and the boiled crab legs are definitely the best thing to get here, as everyone else says(although a little bit salty, but not overbearingly so). The fried lobster was yummy but too oily to eat too much of it, since it was fried. I also liked the coconut rice cake and the fried Chinese doughnut, yum! I avoided a lot of stuff because it seemed like most things were fried, but overall I really enjoyed my meal and left very full(had too many crab legs!). Don’t forget to check in and get 10% discount!

This place is GROSS! I didn’t choose to come here someone else did! The food was old and horrible… The only positive side is it’s CHEAP! But cheap doesn’t overcome GROSS! It isn’t that clean… the food seems to sit for long periods of time… Service is spotty and slow… I would never come here again even if someone paid me to!

Completely misleading restaurant name — Not really Japanese(sushi is really not the top choice here, although they serve a variety of California rolls and nigiri sushi — some fish had a bleach-y smell and taste so I’m not a fan). Really more Chinese food — the usual fare you find at other Chinese buffets: lots of breaded, fried food and stir fried dishes. I do like the fried bananas and steamed clams, everything else is pretty much edible but no great shakes about the food. Ideal for large groups of patrons. Came here for a reception after a funeral and there must have been over 150 from our group alone. There were concurrent receptions of another funeral and an anniversary — nearly everyone this day was in black and white outfits. Very busy Saturday afternoon, and the food service was keeping up, so all things considered, it was just barely okay. Parking is spacious to the side away from the front of the restaurant. Servers were polite, and bring out your drinks once, then good luck flagging them down for refills.

My mom is a fan of this place so dragged our entire family to Cerritos to try it out. Already having Unilocaled this place, I knew not to expect too much and also knew that the price wouldn’t be too bad so I gave this place a fair shot. Food-wise, it’s probably 2-stars. You obviously need to take advantage of their snow crab legs(you need to wait for them to bring out a fresh batch) but that’s about all that’s good here. The rest, you could do better by going to a mom and pop Chinese place. Their selection is minimal. The orange chicken was probably the best thing there. Their salmon sashimi had to be selected for the fresher ones, and one of my slices had a piece of hair/eyelash in it. That was mildly terrifying. Their non-fruit dessert selections were stale. Service-wise, they never came to refill our waters, our napkin holder was completely empty the entire time, and when asked for a tool to crack the crabs(all four of us were clearly eating it), they brought us one. Thanks. The kicker was that the owner/manager was apparently Really Upset about something, and proceeded to yell at the people behind the counter for a legit 5+ minutes. I couldn’t understand what she was saying but she continued to wave a piece of paper around one hand, the person being yelled at on the other side was quieter. In the end, another manager ended up yelling loud enough for the entire restaurant to hear and then left. They could’ve waited an hour or two for the restaurant to close. there were still several parties left, though I hope whatever that was got sorted out. Anyway, dinner was $ 12.99 for us and they no longer do the Unilocal check-in, which may have swayed my decision to come here. Love/hate it when you’re right, Unilocal

Went here for the cheap $ 7.99 lunch with the family. I mean you can’t expect much from that so that’s why I say it’s just OKAY. Better than Royal Buffet, but not better than Hokkaido. Okay on to the food… I didn’t touch the sushi and went for all the cooked foods. Nothing really Japanese about it. More like Chinese and other things. Seafood selection was okay. I just ate the coconut shrimp and steamed fish mostly. But there was your typical mussels with mayo and crab mixture thingy on a shell that wasn’t too mad as long as you don’t ask what else is in it or how it’s made. Service was great though. They cleared our tables and gave us refills on drinks in a timely fashion. Bottom line is that it’s cheap. And even cheaper with a Unilocal check-in for 10% off. Thanks Unilocal! :)

Not a fan of Asian buffets, so I wasn’t expecting much when I came here with coworkers this past Saturday. The restaurant is pretty big; the food choices are in one long row. I mainly ate sushi and rolls, which actually tasted okay. The shark fin soup was good and filling. Tried a baked mussel and it was wayyyy too cheesy and oily, glad I didn’t grab more. Traditional options for dessert — was too full for soft serve ice cream but I ate some(warm) jello and a bit of coffee cake. Friendly service and they were quick to write down drink orders and take away dirty plates. I would not come here by choice, but it is a decent seafood buffet and cheap and convenient for satisfying a group of people’s various likes and cravings.

I want to say this buffet is below average because the quality of their food is HORRIBLE. DEFINITELYONEOFTHOSEPLACESWHEREYOURUN A RISHOFGETTINGSICKFROMTHEFOOD. First, the salmon sashimi tasted fishier than it should and when I went back to look at the sashimi platter it appeared as if it was developing SLIME on the surface. NOT A GOODSIGN. I was here with some family and so my brother had got a few chicken wings. When he bit into it, ITWASSTILLRAWINSIDE. The raw oysters looked so sketchy because they were sitting open face on a platter that was sitting on top of melted ice and when I felt the platter, it was ROOMTEMPERATURE. Can you say FOODTEMPERATUREDANGERZONE?! I’ll admit though, the coconut walnut shrimp tasted awesome along with the green beans and doughnuts that are rolled in sugar. But those are the things that are almost impossible to mess up. The baked salmon was good too, but that is the palest, farm-raised salmon I’ve ever seen… so pale it was close to WHITE. Oh, the plantains were delicous as they are in every buffet. The fried rice could’ve used most flavor because throwing frozen peas and carrots won’t do it any good. Chow mein was oily as it usually is. OVERALL: I almost never talk about service just because I’m all about the food, but our server never asked us if we were done with our plates, instead just took them away. I think the best part was the soft serve machine =] Like I always say, YOUWON’T KNOWUNLESSYOUTRYITFORYOURSELF!

Average… Middle of the road… 50 shades of grey… Waitaminnit, that’s mommy porn… I was eager to try the new Tokyo Seafood Buffet, since I’m Pilipino and AYCE buffets are crack to us. Mother’s Day seemed the appropriate occasion, so here’s the 411– Sushi — Canned tuna should not be considered anything remotely«sushi». The salmon & tuna seemed fresh enough. Some of the rolls were pretty good, too. Not bad. Cooked foods — There was the usual standard fare of fried rice, fried chicken wings etc. The crab legs were boiled and were nice. I enjoyed the fried squid rings, too. I usually stick to the seafood options when dining at Asian buffets. Nothing exceptionally awesome, but what’s the key word? — Average. Desserts — There were plenty options for dessert. Fresh fruits — watermelon, grapes, strawberries etc. Pastries were available, too, but I stay clear of those. Empty calories. I really enjoyed the white fungus dessert/drink. I must’ve had 6 cups of it while I was there. I was told it’s healthy for me. Well, too much of a good thing is a GREAT thing. Oh, and don’t go 5150 if you don’t see a soft serve machine there. They have hand-scooped REAL ice cream, not the reconstituted crap that buffets usually have. You can have as many as you want. Just ask your waitress to get it for you. I was hoping for exotic flavors like lychee, dragonfruit or taro, but alas, the only exotic flavors available were chocolate, vanilla & strawberry. Good ice cream! Seating — Ample seating around the restaurant. The Mother’s Day crowd was in full effect, but I didn’t feel like I was at Disneyland or a Justin Bieber concert. Just don’t cut in front of me at the buffet, or I’ll stab you with a plastic spork. Booths & tables for those who are so inclined. Price — Pretty expensive for what they offer. I’d keep an eye out for coupons in your weekly junk mail. Overall, I found Tokyo Buffet just so-so. There are other, better options available like Hibachi Grill Buffet. I hope management is still tweaking things & listening to people’s opinions on what works & what doesn’t. Excelsior

Give it up to the old folks, their radar for buffets are as good as underage minors attending parties. Upon entering, I didn’t know if this was a care for older folks or an Asian buffet. Well, unfortunately, it was an Asian buffet. One detail I have to point out immediately is that the buffet pretty much stretches from one side of the room to another. So there is really no beginning or an end. What I am trying to say is, if you are stuck behind someone who is slow on your first plate of food, you’re out of luck. Just pretend that slow person is a Toyota Prius and you are a Hummer and just go around them. The food here is ok, nothing to write home about or for that matter, this review. For those of you who have been to a Hokkaido Buffet the food and the type of food is very similar. They have Asian style food like beef and broccoli and then they’ll use the same beef with another vegetable and make another dish out of it. So if you were going to go, let’s say, Panda Express anyways, then just come here. It might actually be quicker. The sushi is «don’t even think about it», and not in a good way. The soup here is not bad, especially their imitation shark fin soup. The sweet and sour soup has way too much corn starch. Don’t come at lunch time because they ran out of some dishes and it took awhile to replenish. The fruit is super fresh, highly recommend. The dessert is depressing, but you can ask for ice cream from your server. I did say ice cream, not ice creams. If you get water, you might not even get a refill if you don’t ask. They have a few big screen TVs, but they were playing a Laker game from 2 days ago. Yes, they currently have a 10% off coupon for those of you that lives near by. For $ 8.99 for lunch, it’s good value but Asia buffet does it better and with better service, and slightly cheaper. Kudos to the old folks that over stuff their faces at buffets. Just don’t stuff your face and afterwards drive 20 mile an hour while driving out of this place.
